Lions actually have little trouble going up a tree. It's the getting back down again that they struggle with. Which is why they generally avoid making the climb.

Additionally they do not maneuver well up in the trees. They’re just too large and not agile up in the tree tops.

@@Xosidhethey can't though. They live because the heftier cousins allow them. A cheetah needs 5 minutes to catch its breath after hunting, and over 15 to reasonably recuperate. Lions, hyenas and leopards drive them off and often do not chase. Their kills are better than killing them. Dudes use hide gloves and overalls when catching cheetahs. They are properly weak cats. The mouth is only good on the backs of vulnerable smaller animals.

Just like most cat kinds including domestic cats, lions can climb up the trees but they can't climb down. Leopard, however, can climb up and down the trees. This is due to the structure of their claws. You can see how the lioness tried to climb down once the meat went down, but she just couldn't. So instead she decided to fight the leopard because she didn't have better things to do lol

These are the 2 Othawa subadult lionesses ( the descendents of the famous Mapogo Coalition ), they just turned 2yo in march this year and they went through absolute hell, who followed them from last year to now saw the absolute best and absolute worst of lion dynamics, drama and plot twist after plot twist worth a full length documentary.
Without getting in any of the specifics or the "poetic" part of the tragedy, they had 3 fathers, 3 mothers, and 4 siblings, all now dead, with the exception of one nomadic father.
They became orphans in an insane series of tragedies and went to survive in their own for almost a year now, but they need 2 more to be old enough to be accepted by male lions and mate, hopefully rebuilding the pride.

Killing them for food I could understand but just for their tusks or sport is wrong.
