You got any projects in the works with him? Guy is a national treasure. Done more to get people interested in engineering than anyone else I can think of.
All that I can say about this video is that both Guy and our man from RE performance seem to be in their element here, both of their knowledge is overwhelming. I’d absolutely love to sit and just take in their knowledge and ask questions about anything that I’m not familiar with. Awesome awesome video thank you 🙏🏻
Its amazing to watch two people have a conversation about something so technical where they can both bounce off of each other and the conversation never dies.
So glad he gave up road racing....his crashes at TT and NW200 would have killed most but he was back at work within a week...can still see the amount of passion in his eyes.....a hero of mine
I would love to sit down and just obsorbe everything guy and the other Gent are talking about, the knowledge between them is out of this world. Brilliant guys.
Brilliant video and hats off to Guy to allow you to capture unedited footage. A real treat. I keep looking through your window to see if I can see my car 😁
I have no idea what they are talking about but I enjoyed every single second of it, lovely to listen to two people talk about something they have a deep knowledge for but know they don’t know everything. No egos just sharing... wonderful 👍
Awesome, kept going back to listen again. Makes sense that someone is having a go at the Mclaren engines, they have been keeping all the info and parts too close for too long.
The big factor (from my understanding) with having injectors further away from the valve is charge cooling but as ever its a compromise with everything else which needs to be achieved like emissions, fuel economy, driveability, environmental tolerance etc. As you say though inlet tract design becomes crucial the further away the injector goes, factor in partial throttle operation & you start to see where staged injectors in different locations begin to appeal. The DI stuff is all about emissions really, no sane person would go down that route unless you really have to! Very interesting vid.
Revisiting this after a year and mate so inspiring! Have obviously seen all the insanely ridiculous docs with Guy and he is truly one of a kind but such a pure petrol at the same time. Liked how he dropped Norris engines in there and their 4g63 compound development. That would be a great video subject- this setup tuned with Syvecs and MoTec- Absolutely brilliant and Thank you!
Guy Martin...my hero!!! Please come down here for a visit once this Covid-19 b.s settles down...you'd make a 70 year old kiwi wahine and her whanau soooo happy! Arohanui from NZ...
Two very focussed knowledgeable blokes having a natter. No one up man ship just respect. Magic! As a Scania man Guy would know all about turbo compounding as Scania fitted it to the 6 cylinder engines. So they had one turbo used as normal and a 2nd turbo driving through gears to the rear of the crankshaft. Ask me how I know ... (Scania tech)
I'd love to meet Guy, I'd imagine we'd have another of those conversations that goes " Yeah ?, yeah, yeah, naaah, yeah ? aaaah, yeah. naaah, fooking ell "
I watched this in mortal fascination. Guy has been playing dumb. Our engine guy with the dodgy arm, genius. Everything he said made perfect sense and I only understood 10% of it.
Guy martins positive approach is off the scale..is he actually in the room or somewhere else…a million and one questions constantly thinking every millisecond.😆
@@REPerformanceUK hi im not sure if this is of interest or if it would create enough financial reward for your business but another channel I watch has hit a bit of a brick wall in regards to intake temperature on the AUDI RS5 , apparently is a common problem with little or no remedy . I will post a link to the video below this comment and that will explain the issue better than I can . If you have a fix in mind great stuff if not I don't own one so im ok 😂😂😂 .
Is that a laser red B6S4 avant In the window on the lift? I don't know a single person playing with them so I would love to know what's going on with that! Everyone goes from the B5's, skips the B6 and then goes on from there.
Ricky! I’m looking at getting my podcast restarted in the new year. I watched one with you recently going through your business story/background. And I know you said you just fell in love with engines. Would love to have you on to just explore that if you fancy talking engines for an hour? I understand my channel is damn tiny currently but still got to ask 🙌🙂
I just love anybody who takes pride in their work. It's your name. It's your family. Ancestors. So many shithouses around, these days. "it'll do/doesn't matter/they won't know/not my problem"..... No. Do it right, or don't do it.
How do you even get into this? I went to college and retrained in level 2 engineering in 2019 and have since dropped on a mega cool job as a blacksmith but i would love to be able to do this kind of work. The plan is to have a engineering company of my own one day where i can use my experience to do a big array of jobs but i wouldnt even know the first place to start with engines. Any advice? Also id love to be able to do things for my own car and project cars and bikes when it comes to it but id be scared stiff to take apart my 600 engine and ride it afterwards 😳😂
i'm nowhere near even beginning to be qualified to comment they are verbally jousting in a very friendly way one knows the detail the other has the general picture and a firm idea about the general principle.....and what is right and wrong...in short Guy is checking him out...and our man checks out...all I can say... best John
I wish I could go back in time, and become a mechanic. I was made to believe that I couldn't do anything in school, and I believed it. Now I own an Audi A4 B7, S-Line, and I love it. It's 2006 but it's in very good condition. I have fixed a few things on it, but I wish I could dismantle it and get it like new. I would really love to be hired by somebody, to learn from them. But somebody who has standards of perfection, not some nakka with some silicone and an angle grinder.
He loves a chat. I'm old enough that he reminds me of Fred Dibnah, another legend.
Geez - I remember Blaster Bates!!!!
„That's Bolton's biggest chimney that… and I climbed it for a ten bob wager. Never did get the ten bob though” 😂
Did yer like that?
I'm only 28 and remember Fred Dibnah on tv
@@dunes7 my dad's favourite and I'm 60!
Holy hell this a master class in engine building for free. The knowledge in that room could restart civilization.
Thank you
Joking aside, those skills might well be needed in just a few years time.
You got any projects in the works with him? Guy is a national treasure. Done more to get people interested in engineering than anyone else I can think of.
Guy’s that one person it’s good to know is around even if one doesn’t know him. What a legend he is 👍🏼
Yeah he is mint!!
The most down to earth bloke ever I'd love him as a big brother
When two passionate minds align .. amazing
Could watch guy talk about paint drying
Had no idea what they were talking about but still enjoyed watching
Love the way guy is looking at something and goes hmmm, you can see the wheels turning, these kinda guys are 1 in a million, extremely clever guys
Could sit and listen to these boys all day, proper interesting, both very clever lads.
All that I can say about this video is that both Guy and our man from RE performance seem to be in their element here, both of their knowledge is overwhelming.

When a lorrie mechanic looks at performance parts. And the damm mechanic can ride like a demon.
So glad he gave up road racing....his crashes at TT and NW200 would have killed most but he was back at work within a week...can still see the amount of passion in his eyes.....a hero of mine
"Nah, yeah, yeah, yeah, nah, yeah" - Guy Martin
Legend, such a big amount of knowledge between you two
I would love to sit down and just obsorbe everything guy and the other Gent are talking about, the knowledge between them is out of this world. Brilliant guys.
Thank you!
Enjoyed that! Love that same wavelength thing where finishing sentences is optional! Total win! 👊
Brilliant video and hats off to Guy to allow you to capture unedited footage. A real treat. I keep looking through your window to see if I can see my car 😁
Loving the David Jeffries memorial TT T Shirt. He certainly was a man mountain. R.I.P.
Cleaver blokes having a proper good chat. Could watch that for hours
Oh, I missed the cleavers being swung about.
Totally lost me but a fantastic watch, could listen to them two all day 🤷🏼♂️🤣
Certainly knows his stuff i wish i could talk to my mates like you guys...
Thanks.
I have no idea what they are talking about but I enjoyed every single second of it, lovely to listen to two people talk about something they have a deep knowledge for but know they don’t know everything. No egos just sharing... wonderful 👍
DI is for emmision. But they coke up as we know. The later motors with the secondary port injection are much better. Great to see guy at your place.
What a night in the pub Guy knows his stuff 👍👍👍
Awesome, kept going back to listen again. Makes sense that someone is having a go at the Mclaren engines, they have been keeping all the info and parts too close for too long.
Rick, Neil and I have been discussing it and we can’t decide if we’re more concerned about your arm or your haircut :)
Great video as always buddy.
Thanks mate!! lol
I assumed Ricky had cut his own hair. After his accident.
Would love to see Guy get over to America and talk to some the guys over there that are on YT.

Outstanding.
Just 2 genuine enthusiasts chatting. I could listen to that for far longer than 20 minutes.
Did I miss what Ricky did to his arm ?
Broke it racing my superbike ay Brands Hatch, crashed and got hit by another rider.
Ouch. Hope it's not too bad a break.
Fascinating man, Guy Martin.

C6 RS6 V10 sir
I wonder if they he was referring to golf ball Dimple Pattern surfacing in the inlet port? Looks amazing the appearance of it.
Ricky! I’m looking at getting my podcast restarted in the new year.

Great videos.
