Ali Smith got the putting yips big time. Too bad. I was expecting big things. She ended up turbo putting inside 15 feet (always a really bad sign) and missing a lot of them.

The format is probably good now for the tour championship. They may need to dial in the stroke advantages. Cutting half the field each round is a bad idea. You may end up cutting some of the "popular" players early after just 1 mediocre round. If you really wanted a cut each round, for MPO each round cutting the bottom 8 would be better. That way you'd at least have to shoot a bad, not just mediocre, round. But still, I think the pro tour wants all their stars playing all 4 rounds and that makes sense. Think they have nailed the format now. Just a matter of if the stroke advantages are too much or too little.

The conclusion of the European DG Festival was thrilling in both MPO and FPO divisions. The FPO saw an exciting playoff, while the MPO featured a nail-biting finish, with Ricky shooting a historic 16-under par. Despite this incredible performance, McBeth lost by just one stroke, with the outcome hinging on the final putt.

Remarks on ratings being higher have to be taken with a grain of salt. Ratings are very accurate despite all the complaints about ratings. But they are only accurate within the field you are commonly playing against. Now that the ladies on tour always play different layouts than the men, they are in a ratings bubble. The ratings they get are a very accurate measure of how they've played vs each other. But the lack of diversity in competition mean they can't be directly compared to players of the same rating that are not in that ratings bubble. Even the touring pro men can't really be directly compared to non touring men because they are in their own bubble. I feel like they have a little more diversity of competition because of the bigger field and players who are part time who still play non tour events. This isn't to say pros ratings are higher or lower than they should be but they are inherently likely to drift one way or the other if not routinely playing with players outside the bubble. It's simply not possible to have an extremely accurate ratings system that can be equal across isolated fields, but we do have an extremely accurate ratings system that compares players in the same field / bubble.

Charlie can't say he agrees that cards need to be put on the clock. You guys crucified the pdga for warning Gannon. He's basically the worst offender. He has rightly attracted the attention of the officials and without enough people to clock everyone he deserves to be penalized. Not just warned. At this point it's the only knock against him. Clearly the best player. But for the love of god....support the PDGA when they make these calls. The Upshot really dropped the ball with the European open warning by suggesting that it should be up to the players on the lead card in the last few holes. Love Charlie, love the upshot, but big time booo on that take, and to now act like you support putting people on the clock is some serious flip flopping.

Mcbeth has aura or people have a nostalgic view of aura that has aged well into this generation. Gannon so far doesn’t have it but will but his appearance just seems homogeneous to the field. Mcbetb had studed earring and fohawk and was still wooping everyone

I think the question might be is Gannon having an amazing stretch, or is this what we have to look forward to for the next 5 years. I worry this might be the next five years. The past few years have been so exciting with chase card, playoffs etc. I hope it doesn’t go back to the pre 2020 competition separation.

When Ganon dialed it's not fun to watch. It almost seems like he isn't even trying and and it's going in from 80 period when Macbeth dominated it looked like he was giving every throw all he had Gannon makes it look too easy 😊

I knew Paul as a teenager. He has always had the arrogance of a champion. That type of arrogance in sport is captivating. Gannon is an amazing talent but he's nonchalant and boring to watch.

The PGA Tour was the most popular when Tiger Woods was dominating and people loved watching it. Same when Michael Jordan was winning everything. I disagree about it wasn't exciting... Josh hit it on the head...if you don't appreciate the skill level we are seeing. Ricky was behind by 3 for a long time and if Gannon had one mistake it could have been 1 in an instance...he doesn't miss. We are witnessing an amazing talent.

While his season is possibly the best of all time, all the talk of Gannon winning the 4 dgpt+ events as some sort of sweep is a little silly. The 2 "playoff" events are 4 rounders as well and are worth more in dgpt points I think. To me there are 3 rounders, 4 rounders, and 5 rounders. I don't care what they call them or if they have a "Major" designation. Strength of field and number of rounds is what matters. He's been amazing but I don't care about him winning all the DGPT+ events.
