I kind of wish you guys talked about more of the smaller discussions made in the AMA, such as the Christmas bonus for people in the company was a 50$ gift card to the DD store. So many things got glossed over with the macro level view of what went wrong at DD. I totally agree with you guys that no matter what the company would most likely be in the exact same spot if HOD didn't buy them out, but you guys make it seem like he was just upset he got fired when it was a multitude of problems that totally destroyed the passion this guy had for disc golf and Dynamic
I think what you missed on the DD/HoD discussion was the corporate culture piece. You can paint over a lot of sins with a fantastic corporate culture, and you can get a lot more out of folks with a fantastic corporate culture even if the money's not there. It's not just that HoD started making cuts to try righting the ship, and you're right to point out that any competent management would be doing the same. What comes up in the AMA in multiple instances that the HoD leadership dismantled the DD culture, which demoralized the staff, which just exacerbates the problems. "Going dark" instead of keeping the historic transparency tells everyone that the new leadership doesn't have a plan. Failing to properly recognize folks that make real contributions to the company, like this guy that saved them a wad of cash on the Amazon thing, tells everyone that they're simply not valued. Telling people that they're in line for promotion then firing them instead tells everyone that they're disposable and don't matter. Part of this dude's AMA was pouring one out for the memory of the company he loved. I've worked for a company of comparable size with a fantastic (perpetually voted one of the region's coolest places to work) culture, so I understand how much a guy can put up with vis-a-vis being underpaid and/or overworked if the recognition and good vibes are there. Like I said, you can paper over a lot of sins with an excellent corporate culture, and when you peel that away it hurts way more. This wasn't a guy grinding an axe. This was a guy who is seeing things about his former employer a lot more clearly than he ever could have before, and that DD and HoD are in the trouble they're in *does* owe in part to them destroying their corporate culture.
I don’t have any recollection of Kevin Jones being sponsored by pro discus., but Maybe you’re remembering that they were Luke Humphries‘s first sponsor after he won Am worlds. 2018.
Mason Ford won Music City open in 2021, an NT event...
Yall need some Mint? We gotcha.
