Ricky staying at 1040 or higher since 2012, is just absolutely insane. Surprised I’ve never heard that stat before.

I was somewhat surprised to hear your ideas for the pro tour, as I agree with the general ideas and directions you were pushing towards. Doing free Fridays, doing Local fluff / social interest media, Josh was too drastic but right direction of regional circuits feeding into DGPT+ events or back to silver v gold-elite series, not ‘majors’.

Mini tournaments inside the main tour. Good examples from other sports are Four Hills Tournament in ski jumping and Tour de Ski in cross-country skiing.

FWIW the resale portal advertises that you are only allowed to sell your tickets at face value or lower.
I ended up just getting vip for Thursday - Sunday since the 5 day sold out so quickly

A point you both neglected about the DGPT, the season starts too early! Seriously, enough going to Texas/Southeast before the trees have even leafed out. Also, too many off weeks in next years' schedule.

All due respect to Josh - but his idea of regions is terrible. Would severely dilute the tour to way too many events. And most importantly do you guys know why the tour is as popular as it is? It’s because we want to see the absolute top say 50-60 disc golfers in the world compete against each other on the same course.
I agree main issue is making sure enough top pros could afford to tour. So what my solution would be - dgpt and pdga are linked. Pdga takes in every year around $10Million. They need to scale back big time with all their expenses that honestly add very little to no real world short or long term benefit to the world of disc golf. So part of their revenue should be directly spent on subsidizing pros on tour.
    Love your guys show. Cheers

Would the revenue to the PDGA be the same if their sole focus was the DGPT vs. sanctioning and for lack of a better term legitimizing local events. Does that focus on the DGPT lessen those joining the PDGA?

@ Good day - here would be my plan. We need DGPT to succeed. This is key to continued success and growth of disc golf. I personally feel disc golf is one of best ways to enjoy nature and be social with friends. And those two things are huge when it comes to mental and physical health.
So why focus on DGPT? Because that is the engine for growth. Why - cause we are on potential cusp of having many pros being able to earn a living as just a pro. And what could help drive this - introduction of betting on disc golf. The revenue is there. The ad spends are there and if disc golf can just get a tiny slice of that ever growing pie - could be huge.
Now in regards to PDGA - they need to streamline. I don’t need the PDGA to fly 6 or more people to Europe for European swing and pay for their expenses, entirety of trip. There are PDGA officials that live in these countries - use them!! Or rely on some of dgpt staff and have those people wear two hats. No big deal.
I mean one only has to look at their financials pre Covid and now post Covid. 2019 financials - total employment cost was $1.2M out of a $4.3M budget. By 2023 their employee costs had skyrocketed to $3.5Million and here is the real kicker the PDGA ran a negative balance that year to the tune of -$1.1M. DAMN -right? Well guess what - there’s more! So in 24 what did they decide to do with employment costs knowing they had just run a negative balance- they actually INCREASED them to a hair under $4M. Like WTF.
Lastly related to PDGA - take a look at their actual TOUR costs in those 2 years- in 2019 when pdga was still responsible for 6 NT events their entire tour budget was $280k. By 2023 it again had skyrocketed to $1.2 million but there are now no NT events and vast majority of DGPT events are run and operated by DGPT staff. So where is all this money going to?
In short, I think PDGA is running a very lose financial ship. Employing too many people, many of them friends, former board members, etc. They could streamline a ton especially when there is duplicative employees at the DGPT. They then could reallocate a million or so to help the pro tour which would really improve the state of disc golf.
      Just my humble opinion. Cheers
