An Analysis of Dragon Society: Spyro the Dragon
I always play on the Imperial side. Mainly because during the battle of Whiterun, when the Jarl is disappointed in me, I can't handle it. It makes me so sad
If I play a Nord, I do the Storm Cloaks and get rid of those not Nord. All other races I play go with Imperials. Imperials = Democrats and Storm Cloaks = MAGA.
Mages for me tbh. Templars had their chance and failed miserably. Chantry did too failed miserably. Inquisition will reform everything and mages will have rules but be better from there on out
12:31 thats cap your justifying genocide
Both sides are the good guys, theyre both fighitng for good reason. The Stormcloaks are fighting to be able to worship who ever they please in there own province, the Empire is fighting, so they can rebuild theyre once great Empire and retake on the Thalmor. I 100% think, if Stormcloak does liberate Skyrim, than Since "The Resistance against the dominion is alive and well in Hammerfell" than a liberated Skyrim would 100% would ally with the Redguards. Since since High Rock would be cut off from the Empire if the Skyrim is liberated, I believe that they would also join into an alliance to fight the Thalmor menace. With the Empire reunifying, that would than get to turn there attention on the Thalmor, They would also attempt to form an alliace with Hammerfell. Fun Fact: the only "racists" in Windhelm are the beggar and Rolff Stone-Fist, neither even have a house. Ulfric never outright says anything racist about the Dunmer or Argonians. Is he not doing anything about their living situation, Yes; but that's not because he's racist, that's because he's leading a war against the empire and cant really take resources from that. The Dunmer have roofs over their heads AND they have businesses in and outside the city. THe Argonians on the other hand, if we go look at Riften. Modesi, the jewelry merchant sleeps down in the beggars row since the cold and damp atmosphere is good for the Argonians, it reminds them of Black Marsh. And with the Dunmer/Argonian history, keeping them separated is 100% the best course of action. The Thalmor are the bad guys.
Empire: greedy Stormcloaks: stupid
Skyrim is still in my opinion one of the greatest video games of all times. Biggest reason is cus its simply a video game not an investment that needs tons of money to be fun. Like most so called video games these days like Last of Us...I personally like the game but i don't like continual buying the same game essentially by buying added parts that cost just as much as a new video game. CoD with all their tweaking u could do in settings that u gotta watch a vidoe on to understand it lmao. OG cod is supreme. Then fortnite and many other "games" they say but are investments to their companies. To much money traps or money hunger games go for these days
Right as I was writing this comment you read my mind on the Thalmor. They are literally n@z1s... I understand that the elves overwhelmed the empire and they had no choice, but man, the imperials and stormcloaks are BOTH just honest people trying to protect their lands and be safe, just with different methods... I hate how it doesn't matter what side you pick. At the end of the day, the empire is still crippled and the elves are stronger than ever... I hope the next elder scrolls lets us fight off the elves/AD. IMO if the stormcloaks were less... racist and somewhat power hungry, they would've been such an easy choice to side with. The way they handle things in Windhelm is lowkey super messed up
As I have been saying since I first played Skyrim...... "SKYRIM BELONGS TO THE NORDS!!!" It is just so easy to romanticize their cause. A race fighting against foreign invaders who try to rid them of their religion and culture, I'd rather fight for that then the Imperials who are puppeted by the Dominion and have no other reason to take Skyrim. They already control Cyridill let the nords have Skyrim.
empire is driven out of the land THEY BETRAYED thalmor are absolutely banned from existing within skyrim borders good ending skyrim belongs to the nords
Hey now the third Reich was awesome and wanted Germany for Germans and Europe for Europeans. Please do research. Now Israel is your Thalmor... Thank you. Skyrim for the Nords and the Empire for mankind except the red-guard.
Religious supremacist and racist.... Well guess he's an antisemitic Islamophobic. Racist, an anti-white word that keeps white people from being tribal like everyone else. From wanting to protect your nation's and your people from things that harm them.... There needs to be some serious growing up
In the 21st century, keeping your values, traditions and beliefs (including Gods) for me is a priority over any union. Our ancestors didn't die for us to betray them in the future, to leave their deaths in vain after millennials of protecting our identity... Hail Ulfric! True High King!
My first playthrough I sided with the Stormcloaks because it was their land and their right to worship as they chose. Buuut, then you find out from Madanach that Ulfric did the same thing to the Forsworn. There are no good guys here.
As a wannabe writer I wanna write about dragonborn uniting the "squabbling children" the brother who stays out of it so that together they may fight the real enemy, it just may require a little performance on Ulfric's end Also I was set on being a Stormcloak at the start but upon hearing the Stormcloak's rhetoric it sounded like the sorts who I wouldn't per se agree with, still feel sad because Ralof is a nice guy and I didn't wanna let him down lol
I greatly disagree. The Thalmor doesn't want Ulfric to win and they don't want the Empire to win, they want the war to continue. Either victory would be detrimental to their designs. When it comes down to it, the Empire abandoned Skyrim. They allowed repression of people's right to worship Talos, a being I remind you is confirmed to be a Divine Being in Oblivion, they allowed Thalmor agents to walk Skyrim to arrest, detain, torture, and kill suspected Talos worshipers. In other words, the citizens of the Empire. We know this intimately because there is a quest to rescue a victim of theirs. Even if the Empire coalesce in a united militaristic force to defeat the Thalmor once and for all, that can't be forgotten. And I don't think it's necessary, because Hammerfell already shown individual nations without the support of the Empire can drive away and defeat the Thalmor. If Skyrim did so as well, which they're certainly capable of it especially with Dragonborn on their side, every other nation will be primed to rise up as one force against Thalmor. There's no way they can win that. And frankly, an Empire that abandons its citizens to be tortured and killed by enemy agents yet still claim authority and sovereignty over them, such an empire deserves to be done away with. This isn't the old Septim Empire after all. I have issues with Ulfric and some of his followers. They're a little too... uhh "Skyrim is for the Nord" in their thinking, and it's certainly a concern for potential issues in the future, issues I feel Dragonborn could easily set straight if he needed to. But the reason for Ulfric's anger, and the desires for the sons of Skyrim to be free of an Empire that has abandoned them into the hands of their enemies, is entirely justified. In other words, either I'm the Dragonborn demanding Ulfric and Tullius to ceasefire so I can deal with the world-eater once and for all, or Skyrim is for the Nords.
That's the only video that made me clear what choice I want to make. Great material!
I sided with the storm cloaks, but after the quest in Markarth and it landed me in jail for trying to expose injustice it showed that the storm cloaks were greedy (so was the empire) but it made me sad. Much like this world, greed is on both sides no one or the other.
I was imperial, I lived through imperial controled Skyrim for years, and mostly solving the problem the empire created. The empire blades want to kill the people who fighting against the dragons The empire sell out anyone to their high elves master for profit under their control The empire let criminals run free in my beautiful Skyrim and make other do their dirty work. The empire should kill ulfric, and yet failed at the chance. The empire let corrupt jarls control Skyrim, who want only to please themselves own desires. I grew sicked of the imperial, and now siding with the Stromcloacks.
I‘m playing DAO right now as a mage. After finishing the mage Tower i gotta say the whole „mages vs templars“ is not really there in the first game. It‘s pretty obvious that the templars are absolutly necessary since one mage, even by accident, can lead to a demon destroying the whole world. Also both faction leaders have respect for each other and kind of work together. As far as i understand the conflict gets bigger in the second game, because the templars act more tyrannical and cruel. What i‘m trying to get at is that originally they weren‘t antagonists and more like two symbiotic factions that could even be considered two sides of the same coin. I know many people think the rules for mages are too strict, but how could you possiby do anything differently?
Stormcloak are the good guys all the way. You don't get to ban someone's religion and claim to be the good guys, The empire are just puppets of the thalmor.
Stormcloaks are also the bad guys by that metric.
I've been saying this for years. I fully believe Ulfric is a Thalmor puppet. Wheather Ulfric knows it or not tho im not too sure
The Empire are the good guys, no need to make a 23m vid about that absolute truth
i did pick the mage on my 1st full play and really take a long time to get to the end ( 2022) and now playing so a mage dating a templar so yea i going to pick the templar, if i mess up will replay it to make a warrior to date solas yes i am so going to do it
Any dumbass who chooses the empire over the Stormcloaks because of this retarded “we’re stronger united” bullshit needs to get their head checked
Tullius mentions when asked why cant the emperor send reinforcements and He said 'the civil war in Skyrim is a side show from the imperial city before the main event with the Thalmor resumes'. If its true what He says its likely the Empire is ammassing a larger force on the border with Skyrim which you find a letter after clearing the fort in Falkreath for the Stormcloaks that says precisely that. They do appear to be getting ready to invade Skyrim to oust the Thalmor from the Empire but are biding time until then. This is further backed when Ulfric is killed after the speech from Tullius he talks to the player and says that What Im not sure about is the peace weve made with the Thalmor, but we'll keep that to ourselves.
Funny... I agree with your view of the Thalmor. Keep in mind, Ulfric is extremely racist as his hate of the Thalmor also has him hating any non-Nords (no Argonians, other elves, Khajits, etc. in Windhelm). I tend to play (or marry) a dark elf, defeat Ulfric, then move into Hjerim. I wish there was a way to work with the Empire AND Ulfric to fight the Thalmor.
I’ve read somewhere that Hammefell was able to fight off the Thalmor because the empire left an army to help them out in their independence. Of course, correct me if I’m wrong but the Hammerfell argument is one I read the most in this comment section.
Before all else I go by what I see and what the game puts in front of me, not just by what is written in the (lore) books scattered around Skyrim. I just can’t look past the “Skyrim for the Nords”nonsense that the Stormcloaks are spouting. They treat any non-Nord race like absolute garbage and are very, very open about that. Sure, live is no picknick for any non-Nord race in Skyrim in general but if we look at what is happening in Windhelm and we use that to see what could happen in every other city, then I don’t see how I can side with the Stormcloak Rebellion. I’ve played through both sides multiple times and the second the Stormcloaks successfully capture a city any non-Nord starts making remarks about mistreatment by the Stormcloak army!
I think you forgot one detail why the empire surrendered to the Thalmor in the first place: The moment they had beaten the big thalmor army in Cyrodil, they learn that another thalmor army of similar size was already landing in thamriel. Meanwhile their own troops were exhausted and new troops still had to be rallied. The empire did not surrender because it was generally unable to win that war, but it was manouver into a position where a critical strike could end it quick. But once that threat was averted, the empire was very well prepared to make the war a good round two. Considering that the empire had factions in itself that are on their own strong enough to beat the thalmor, shows how much the empire could actually dominate them. And that’s why the empire has to win the civil war. So it stays strong and can get back into the ring for round two. Also you said we never hear of Stormcloaks beeing racist, but that’s false. Ulfeics capital is riddled with it. I am so excited to hear how TESVI will have tackled that entire problem.
The choices are a racist cult and a racist cult. I simply do not care
No its not gray. There is a clear good side, and a clear dumb side. Your intellect will decide which one you choose.
Simple explanation for you to pick the empire: Ulfric is a shitty person and just serves the thalmor whether he knows it or not. if the stormcloaks win, weakened Skyrim, weakned empire, more easy to kill and take over.
The empire is evil.
I don't think the Empire is worthy of support. It's crumbling. They cut and run when the going gets tough (abandoing Morrowind, Hammerfell, Skyrim). They capitulated to the Thalmor, selling out the Redguards and Nords to save their own Imperial skins. Yet the Redguards somehow manage to fight on alone to get a much more favorable and honorable peace treaty. The Imperials are weak since the end of the Septim dynasty. I'd rather take my chances with an independent Skyrim and making an alliance with Hammerfell than to trust the failing Empire to do anything except keep on failing. I wouldn't even want Imperials in a coalition of human races because they will cut and run when the going gets tough. You can count on the Redguards and Nords to be reliable allies and stay in the fight to the end.
None of those three were abandoned, and Hammerfell only survived cuz the Dominion spared it.
Just look at it like this. The mages are the Palestinians. They are constantly watched by the IDF(Templars) and essentially just want to be free. Hope this dumbs it down for you.
It's a civil war. It never is about good or bad it's about my way vs. your way.
As a new DA player. I watched this mainly as catch up for TVG. I tried inquisition a while back but the style wasn't for me. Looking forward to diving into TVG though. That's Looking more like my style. Thanks mate, great video.
I thought of Skyrim 6, and there is an A version and a B version (not sold separately) in senario A the imperials won and in senario B the Stormcloaks won. And in that game, one of the main quests is to obliterate the thalmor and the dominion.
Why didnt the empire just side with hammerfall and wipe out the divine if hammerfall was able to win their war and the empire fought to a standstill they could whoop the divine
The Templar order is broken, but not evil. Neither of them are “evil”. We see in Tevinter and through Inquisition, DA1 and 2; that “absolute power corrupts absolutely” and the mages of Tevinter prove to be incredibly evil and ruthless. Lord Luvius Erremond of Viranthium & Corepheus serve as examples of what a powerful and evil mage can accomplish, significantly more so than just a guy with an army. The Templars are a broken order which is corrupt from the top down, it would need to be completely overhauled for any chance of having it survive inquisition, but the mages present such an omnipresent danger to every non-magic user if one decides to one day become evil. Plus the mages aligning with Tevinter under any circumstances is treason at best and an admission of practicing blood magic. The Templars would need to be overhauled from the ground up, as the Inquisitor, I disband the order when I side with the Templars, but similarly, the Mages have proven to be completely untrustworthy in contrast to the thuggish brutality of the Templar Order, the Templar’s are generally more honest and upfront .
"When the Empire surrendered to the Aldmeri Dominion they shamed us all."
Stormcloaks are the only acceptable choice
I think I’d agree w you if the assumption is that the empire does what you say they will do after they squash the rebellion. But so far there is zero leaders in the empire that instill any confidence. The truth is the empire will continue to do exactly what they have done! There is one person in any leadership that clearly wants thalmor gone and that’s Ulfric. I agree that your plan would be best but I don’t think you can bank on the empire doing any of that.
Guys I have to side with the storm cloaks here. You cannot take peoples faith away from them, with that stripped they are constrained. Without faith we are nothing. Ulfric is also clear that he is open to fight abroad. Skyrim and hammerfell uniting as one against the empire. No more bending the knee to dictatorship.
Unreal Tournament was my favorite, and I've played it more than Quake 3 to be honest. Loved it, game of my childhood. Didn't play Unreal thou lol
I am currently playing an orc warrior with a side of support magic. As for which I would go empire on this character as sees worship is an individual thing and discrimination well is not really tolerated.might come with being an orc
Unreal singlehandedly shaped my childhood and my taste in video games. I will never ever forget the great memories I had playing this game and the fun times I had with the friends I made!
This is why you escape with ralof, then join the empire
Looking older games like this is fun. Maybe Crysis would be a fun game to look at. I remember being blown away when a friend showed to me the first time. And Crysis 3 is one of all time favorite shooters.
That music at the beginning brings back some memories 🎶
