    Very thorough detail of the Baja. Frankly better than any video I’ve seen from the mfg’er. The rig has a ton of storage! Nice modifications! What kind of jack are you using? I assume your spare is underneath in the stock position and full size to match. Thanks. You seem happy with the rig.

      Thank you for your kind words and for watching my video. I appreciate it!!!! I upgraded from the factory hitch to the Carli Trophy Hitch to accommodate the matching size spare tire. I have a Bottle Jack with integrated Jack Stand. It has a large bottom plate and should ideally perform well on softer ground as well. I am on the lookout to add a 2x6 or 2x8 piece of wood for additional stability underneath the jack for certain terrains.

    Looks like my comment didn’t post or it might post twice. I have an early edition Baja with the 6 1/2 foot bed and the door is in the rear. I’ve been debating selling mine and getting the full size like you have. Quite a few things about the 6 1/2 foot bed that I don’t like as well as some quality issues. I cut a piece of thinsulate the same size as the mattress and put it under to keep the cold out. Can’t feel it under the mattress. It works quite well and relatively cheap.

    • @dtadventure4x4
      @dtadventure4x4 5 днів тому

      Hi there. I have some leftover thinsulate and will try that. I also bought something similar to the Froli system to prevent mold (at a fraction of the cost of the Froli system). I was considering the shorter Baja, but did not like the door. I would expect too much dirt (and moisture when it rains) to come inside as well as being concerned about how long that door would last. The layout could work, but I think it requires some previous experience to go into the build to make it work. Even though my previous rig "made me lose some money", the learnings from that rig went into my Baja and it makes it all worth it. I think it would be a good move to go with 8 ft. bed and better layout, but you know your use-case better. I compered mine to the newer Baja Plus as well as the Megatron and Hilt. For the me, the Baja does the trick. I do not need more space and while the Baja Plus would make life a tiny bit more comfortable, the extra cost is just not worth it to me.

    • @NSG3635
      @NSG3635 5 днів тому

      @@dtadventure4x4 I agree with you, the Baja starts to get into earth roamer category and that is too big for me. I want to stay with a 3500 chassis and also much cheaper then those bigger rigs. I have not had any issues with the rear door in terms of weather, but the 20 seconds it takes to open with the motor feels like 5 minutes when you want to go in and out quickly. I haven't seen a single rear door Baja since mine, unless they don't post them. The dinette runs vertical and can barely fit two people let alone 1 person. When your roof is closed does it rest on the actuators or does it have a "home base" it rests on? I always thought it was strange that the roof closed is just pivoting between the 4 actuators and not locked down if that makes sense

      They are from Amazon. It says up to 200 lbs, but keep in mind that the dog weight is distributed via 4 legs, while we humans have only two. I tested my weight (way below 200 lbs) and decided not to test the limits. But for Shelby they work fantastic. I use them for the camper entrance and to get her into the truck through the truck door. amzn.to/3ZffNQj

    Very Cool Setup. I enjoy you videos.. plus good information.. thx… I have similar situation as you, completely built out f-250 with 10 foot Alaskan, flatbed, 600 amh battleborn, if I could think it, I added it.. full carli kit, etc… but after I did everything I wanted to make it work for me…. I sold the camper, similar to what you did with your first rig. because I want something that will give me the comfort and space and storage I needed… but light weight… I want a rig i can take on semi diffucult trails, so I had a custom camper made that is light weigh… which leads me to my question. I mainly see tours of the Ross monster baja… but not yet to see someone take it to anywhere that is much of a challenge… I can imagine the price tag might be why? I’m curious what your plans are, how you will use your new truck… stuff like this video..or more challenging stuff… I also understand you travel solo… I’d just love to see someone in truck camper doing some challenging stuff… by the way… 37” tires ? Thanks for making your videos…

      Thank you for watching and sharing your own story and thoughts. Yes, my rig is on 37s. I am not shying away from challenging trails. The trail that led me to where I am right now definitely posed some challenges as it was extremely rocky and the rig was bouncing left and right like crazy even though I was going super-slow. The technical rating because of what I described is a 4. I built this rig to go off the beaten path and while I keep the invested amount of money in mind, I am also on the lookout for adventure. It really depends on what is do-able due to the overall height and wheelbase.

    • @mustdodiving5263
      @mustdodiving5263 12 днів тому

      Thanks for responding… I had the same problem with the rocking left to right… it’s the worse feeling… the guys at CJC have told me that I need to remove my rear sway bar, that it prevents the suspension from doing its job. My new rig is not as low as I was aiming for in the down position .. 46 + 6 roof. In my Alaskan it had a lot of storage at head level. My new camper will have nothing higher than the counter top. I hope this will also reduce the left to right rocking… also got my shocks custom tuned CJC says that should make a big difference. I was thinking about the switching from the 2.5 kings to the 3.0 but then I have to upgrade a bunch of the other Carli parts… I will have to wait to see, my camper is waiting for me to pick it up and I’m out of the state helping my mom recover from an ankle replacement… so it will probably be a few more months before I get out there again. I normally go out a few months at time… but family first… I call OC home…

      Not sure why you're yelling, but I heard this from a thousand miles away. Well, if you advertise a product for a certain vehicle or better - specifically made for a certain vehicle, wouldn't you expect that it works and fits accordingly? I do. The bumper came with zero installation instructions, missing holes that needed to be drilled, zero info about what to torque the bolts to, and a lot more. That the lights did not fit 100% or that they cannot be mounted flush is minor and if the rest of the bumper would have been fine, the lights would have not been worth mentioning. This is not some cheap Chinese knock-off bumper, it is American made and it was crap. I always try to buy American made products and support local businesses, but I also speak up when these products or services are crap and Chassis Unlimited falls into that category that I speak up because neither the product or their customer service are worth being considered.

    • @dtadventure4x4
      @dtadventure4x4 16 днів тому

      Surprisingly there is not a large market for a slightly used truck bed. You can get one through ebay for less than $1K (at least that is what I found). I had Rossmonster "deal with it" - meaning, please discard if needed. I do not have space or the means to deal with selling the bed. For the window I would think it is even worse. Again, I let them do their thing. If they get some money for either one, that is fine. I do not feel I was taken advantage off by them.

    • @w.j.hammer5902
      @w.j.hammer5902 11 днів тому

      From my experience, selling the beds and windows using normal means (Facebook ebay, craigslist and so on) nets very few results. The windows are virtually worthless and the beds might sell for 2 or 3 hundred if you can even find an individual to buy them.

      Just looking at how long some of those older Earthroamers are sitting on their lot, you're not wrong with the "RV Park Queen" comment. They look really cool and for certain ways of travel they fit the bill, but I am sure the size and weight can become a big issue. I wonder if Earthroamer supplies their customers with routes and campsites that are safe for these big rigs?!

    Love the truck, I’m in the market, too. I understand that you had it custom ordered, but I’m curious why you had to drive to Iowa to pick it up? Are able/willing to share what you paid for it? Thanks much and safe travels!

      I ordered from Granger in Iowa and got a 2% under invoice deal with ~$180 or so in document fees and $35 in tag fees. No other fees or add-ons. I like road trips and needed some time off anyway to unplug from the world for a bit and turned it into a nice road trip.

    Are you going to do a total cost breakdown of the truck? This seems to be a really great option for an expedition truck. Quite curious about cost, deposits, options, timeline, all that good stuff.

      I am thinking about it. RM changed their distribution model and pricing significantly after my order - so, I am not sure anymore how relevant my pricing information is as you cannot buy for those prices anymore. Again, I am thinking about it.

    It looks like you have a spare tire under the truck - Is it easy to get the spare tire out (especially in an off road situation)? Also, is there any way to carry 2 electric bikes on your vehicle? Thanks,

    • @dtadventure4x4
      @dtadventure4x4 Місяць тому

      The spare is in the same location as factory, just a bit larger and heavier of course. I carry a larger jack with me (includes a jack stand) + I have leveling blocks as well. Knock on wood I won't need to use it, but I hope I am prepared as much as possible. I also have a tire repair kit onboard. Regarding your question about the ebikes. I guess it depends. You could go with a single storage box (or single, larger storage box) and mount each bike to one of the other two Molle panels. There are bike carriers that fit these panels. Rossmonster also prouds themself to make custom storage boxes depending on your needs.

    Like the rig. On tire pressure. I have a somewhat similar platform and weight. For sand and stone combo I go down to 28- 30 psi. One suggestion go to a CAT scale and weigh your rig. $14 well spent. When you see the actual weights, especially your rear axle, maybe consider a more conservative interval on your axle lubricants.

    • @dtadventure4x4
      @dtadventure4x4 Місяць тому

      Yeah, that is on my to-do list. Rossmonster had it weight before I picked it up, but now with me, the dog, and all my gear in it I should do that sooner than later. I will experiment with the tire pressure as I go. Just taking this rig into different environments for now to learn how it drives on sand and rocks and so on. I am planning to be on top of the service cycles as well as re-torque or check on all bolts as well.

    I’ve been up & through the “ Squeeze” on Pinyon Mountain many , many times on My Dual sport Yamaha & in my Suzuki Samurai. I now have my 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 diesel crew cab set up for Overlanding & am planning a few trips to the Blair valley area right near that very trail in this video. And “ Yeah , your truck IS way too big “ to fit through it. Beautiful area to explore with fantastic views , especially leading right up to “ Heart -attack hill” not too much further along that trail. !! Stay safe out there bud , and I really enjoyed this one with ya here . 😎👍

      Thank you for sharing. I actually relocated to Blair Valley on Monday afternoon due to the strong winds and the blowing dust/sand on the squeeze trail area. Better conditions here in the valley. Is there access to see heart attack hill from the other side at all? I know it is one going down, but would like to see it in general.
