I purchase a Pink Barbie guava last year and currently it has the first two flowers buds and I can't wait to taste it. I am an islander too and grew up eating guavas out a tree that it was originally a stick that was used for a fence. My parents land was next to a huge property that they had cows and they use anything to make a fence with wire and that stick they used develop into my beautiful guava tree. The tree it's still there I am 67 years old and I remember picking up guavas as far as when I was only 5 years old. Guavas are my favorite fruit too, now I live in central Florida and I am trying to have all I had when I lived back home. Thank you for sharing, I enjoy you guys, God Bless with a good healthy life and lots of blessings !!!
Tha is such a wonderful story, thank you for sharing it with us, back in jamaica they did the same thing also to make the fence, and once they stick grew into a guinep / spanish lime tree we had so much of them to eat all the time 😊
Great
Yummy yum yum😊
Wow. Love your guys garden

Great season, this year I had so many flowers on my Carrie, but they start coming down, so I got about 40 fruits no bad.
This year also for us the fruits were falling but once I started watering them they stopped, the if the rainfall is low the fruits will not hold. 🙏🏽
That owl is high as f
😂😂😂
The one recording him is the suspicious one 😂
😅, that may be true 😂
Yep
What a distinguished Gentleman, yes! Look at how he is sitting, there,....Yes! 😉
He is, that audio would do well with him 🤣
Owls are VERY cool birds. And you'll never have to worry about mice in your garden.
I know, we actually have some peaches and plums ripe now and the mice are here I think this is what attracted him, also we have a palm that died and the woodpeckers made a nest last season and guess what 😌 he is living in the old wood pecker home at days now 🥹
💀
Perfect disguise!
Hello
Hi 🙏🏽
I’ve never had a Guava before. I must try it.
Please let us know how you like it when you try ☺️, if you lived in Central Florida we could have given you from our tree to try 😂
@@theislandgardeners6615 I wish I was in Florida!
@@theislandgardeners6615 I just ordered a Barbie Pink Guava tree from Etsy. Some people on the internet are saying that pink Guava aren't sweet. Why is this? I've never tried Guava until yesterday, when I bought a white Guava from an Asian food store. It was the nastiest thing that I ever ate. It had no sweetnest, and tasted more like a vegetable. Hopefully my barbie pink won't taste like that when it arrives. How do you stop the pink Guava from cross pollinating with the other varieties? Wouldn't that effect the flavor?
@@candyman5749 don’t worry about it, pink Barbie are sweet and I also think the one you bought would be sweet if it was ripened on the tree or came close to ripe on it. If the fruit is hard and crunchy that’s usually for those who like it that way, like myself 😊 I eat those crunchy ones with salt.
@@theislandgardeners6615 - I am also ordering Mexican Cream Guava seeds. Do you grow any of these? I would like to graft it to the pink Guava tree. I was wondering if they were to pollinate with each other, how it would effect the taste of the fruit. Mexican cream is said to be a very sweet variety.

It is better to use raw linseed oil, even though you are covering it with plastic, as boiled linseed oil contains chemicals, so it’s for the same reasons you don’t stain the inside panels. Also when you staple the plastic, or it gets tears, it break the protection it provides and allow the possible leaching of chemicals into the soil over time. Thanks for sharing
Oh, Had no idea they added chemicals to the linseed oil, it doesn’t say so on the label, Thank you for that bit of information.
Great video! I have a question about grafting eggplants on to it - do you allow the turkey berry plant to branch out and become a tree, and then graft the eggplant scions onto the branches to create an eggplant tree? Or do you cut the turkey berry low down at the trunk and graft the eggplant directly onto the trunk?
Hey, good question, I have done it both ways, if you allow the turkey berry to grow into a plant 4 ft tall or more then just graft onto multiple branches and this will make a tree that produces heavy, or graft at the base and this will also produce heavy and may grow much larger than other eggplants but not as big as the other and will produce a little less. Pros and cons Making the turkey berry grow more gives better harvest however there are many side branches of turkey berry that will constantly grown and need to be pruned. While grafting low doesn’t have this problem however yield is less it also takes less space if grafted low and will require more space if grown tall. Hope this helps 👍🏽
@@theislandgardeners6615 thanks! that's super helpful to know

Do you have any information on this ‘Hypoluxo’ plum variety? I can’t seem to find much on it from online resources. Do you know where it comes from and why it’s named that? I know there’s a town in Palm Beach County Florida called Hypoluxo, but that’s all I know.
Hi, I purchased from a nursery and that is the name in the tag, I know it’s very low chill requirement, my information is only what I have observed from my plant, what would you like to know? Maybe I can answer your question?
@@theislandgardeners6615 Thank you for the response! I was wondering about it because I saw a couple of these “Hypoluxo” plum trees for sale at my local nursery in Gainesville, Florida. I went home to do some research and couldn’t find much on the variety. From what I read it’s a European plum, instead of a Japanese hybrid like most of the plums grown in Florida. Super low chill, turns red when it’s ripe. and super juicy and sweet. What do y’all think about the fruit?
@@jacobwhite953 I love it, the fruit is sweet and the skin is tangy giving it a really great flavor, they are not very large plums, but it produces abundantly and being in central Florida I am extremely happy to have a consistent producing plum in zone 9b.
Nicejob🙏
