Better LOD Transitions with Geometry Nodes
Переглядів 4,6 тис.3 роки тому
In this tutorial I am going to go over an easy method for making the transition between low and high poly instances less apparent. This is especially useful for very high density instancing like grains of sand. Sign up for patreon: www.patreon.com/ryanmaggs Follow me: Instagram: _ryanmaggs

Blender Gunship Animation

Enjoy this loop, modeling and rendering done in Blender. Textured in Substance Painter. Modelled from the brilliant Michal Kus concept artwork. www.artstation.com/artwork/NxVr3d
the project is very nice, but you explained it so badly that it didn't help us at all
"you can spare the default cube's life... and give it a purpose" I almost spilled my coffee i laughed so hard. I'm generally not a fan of all the default cube memes lol
Is it possible to make a plane for a large enviroment that closer to the camera will have more subdivision and further away will have less of it in experimental cycles?
Another tutorial with Blender 4 please
it's complicated to me to understand the Geo Nodes in this tutorial because i'm learning on Blender 4.0.2
could you please share an updated (Blender 41) version, please?
Looks so cool. Can we buy the file somehow?
Do you have a more in-depth camera culling tutorial?
What audio gear (midi controller, etc) you got there?
man u have to make something similar for blender3.6 and more
man whats the node u put in the color ramp for the speckles? its a very good tutorial but u can have an overview of the node tree of the geometri nodes and the texture
4:13
You lost me at "vertici" lol
Amazing tutorial and this will greatly improve the pyramid in my game, you earn a subscriber mate!
you're not a beginner in geo nodes because you understood this tutorial
@@Autaka-Nubia Maybe not absolute beginner but i really have a hard time doing anything in geo nodes, following a tutorial is easy but understanding what you do is on another level,
@@petertremblay3725 such as the concepts of hard surface modeling with blender bross, i got their concepts and i made my first project by their concepts and i sold it, but Geo nodes are different, for this reason i don't understand the system of geo nodes before blender 3, the problem is : no any tutorial about building realistic pyramid by geo nodes in new blender system ! hope i could finding tutorial with a same concepts for building realistic egyptian pyramid by Geo nodes as this tutorial , goodluck Peter
@@petertremblay3725 i made it by tow ways but the stones are messy, not like the pyramid because i live close of it in Giza and i see it everyday
@@Autaka-Nubia Yes getting the stone right is the main issue specially when you need to make a lot of them. Currently sculpting stones based on pictures and will have to make low resolution of them and then create sections where i can change a few stones like adding cracks&erosion.
Where can we see the whole geometry nodes setup for the sand? Not the camera culling.
MATH ADDICT
Any idea on how to do this in 3.4?
You can do it the exact same way, but instead of using attributes, you need to work with the vectors directly. Rather than an Attribute Math node, just use a vector math node and use its output directly. Also, use an Align Euler to Vector node instead of an Align Rotation to Vector (and leave its "Rotation" input blank). To add the later rotation, just put the output of the last Align Euler to the upper input of a Vector Math node set to Add. Put a Combine XYZ node into the bottom input, and add a Math node set to "To Radians" into the needed inputs of that node.
I'm scared to try this.
Needs to be updated to 3.4
Hey ryan. Nice work really. I have been making a scene for my shortfilm. I really didnt find any video about day night perfect transition except this one. I Have done everything, the Only problem im facing is its not smooth. The transition from day to night is happening only in like 5frames, no matter how much frame i give to the empty for rotating. Could you please help me out with this? What might be the problem do you think?
1:31 so in Blender 3 use node Instance on Points, to its Instance Input put Object Info node, in Object Info node choose correct mesh. To Rotation Input of Instance on Points node put Align Euler to Vector node, to Vector Input of Align Euler to Vector node put Position node. In Align Euler to Vector node click on Y. EDIT: If you have Blender 3 just fuck this
You’re a saint
what's the name of attribute math node in blender 4.0.2 ? different nodes !
2:03 how the hell do you scaling only bottom of this tringle?? Edit; ah I see, just click S to scale and then X to scale only on X axis
I can see shit at this resolution
amazing!
Daaaaaaamn boiiii
thanks dude
Maybe a good tutorial but I can't see anything. The font is just too small. :/
Thank you so much Sensei💯(≧∇≦)ノ
Great tutorial! Keep it up!
What gpu did you render with?
A GTX 980
I think the day and night cycle would be much faster
Totally subscribed for this
Let's say I wanted to make like a Honey I Shrunk the Kids kind of video how would I translate this to stuff like..let's say... like the kids are on a tile counter top and I would like adaptive subdivision on that so I would need to create a texture I guess for the tile on the counter top the metal of the sink?....if they go in the sink and also a water texture?... If they fall in the dishwater or something?..the kids I mean...but imagine that with this method it seems as if it would translate to making a "Honey I Shrunk the kids" kind of video
Does anyone have an updated version of this tutorial that will work in Blender 3.1?
Awesome work
I'm trying to create a scene where I dig with a garden trowel in a garden just digging up small amounts of dirt the trowel goes into the dirt and causes small holes just like a gardener does. Using your method Sir do you know how I could create this animation
Thank you so much for this helping tutorial mate.
blender 3.0 has the different nodes, how can this be done with the geometry nodes of blender 3.0? thank you
Fascinating video! I was trying to get some LOD stuff working, and though I ended up with a different node tree I definitely learned a lot here!
I dont even use Blender, but this tut is so great. Im trying to do something similar in cinema 4d.
You must be using a really old version, the first 3 nodes you put up don't exist in 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2.
The sand is really good. It's a little too flush with the shovel.
Could you update it to the new geometry node fields workflow ?
Awesome video Ryan! Great explanation. Thank you for sharing.
Can u update the tutorial to work with fields please
Welp.. this is sadly now out of date, as things like Attribute Proximity no longer exist. =\
Very resourceful, impressive workflow, and outstanding final result. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video! I subcribed to your Patreon and sent you a message. Any chance I could get this file sent to me?
Great tutorial but no matter what I do I could not line up the edges perfectly. Do you know what I can do for that?
Had the same issue - on the Mirror modifier increase the 'merge' value. Make sure to check 'merge' if it's not checked. This should close the gap.
@@lloydsaul997 Ok thank you so much for letting me know I will look back into my project.
That's interesting! I wonder if you can use this trick to simulate a kind of mipmapping for procedural textures..
