Just going out
Приєднався 11 лют 2022
Just a bit of camping with a bent on budget accessibility. A bit of review here and there, along with a few jaunts into the countryside adding a bit of interest and history. Not quite bushcraft, perhaps a few hints, tips and cheats. Above all seeking the best that nature gives us.
Stanton Drew Stone Circle
The 3rd largest stone circle in the UK, we go through the history, myths and location. Add to that a almost paranormal event on the festival of Samhain. Come have a look at my visit to Somerset.

Gas Gas Gas............its Bulogi time
Переглядів 304Місяць тому
Butane, in the Autumn sales its as cheap as chips. A great time to try out this much maligned heating element and having a proper gander at some of the stove types you may choose to utilise. Once we've seen all that its a great time for a proper cook up and seeing how a butane gas medium transforms bare ingredients into a fantastic meal for all to share; a Korean Beef Bulogi.
All Cannings Long Barrow on the autumn equinox
Переглядів 1392 місяці тому
While Wiltshire UK has its share of long barrows of all kinds, the All Cannings Long Barrow is a modern and working type. For your fun I essentially sleep under a plastic bag, and visit the site which has very very limited accesability and see a Druidic ritual take place to honour those that have passed.

The Ridgeway trail all 87 miles of it is part of a greater Icknield way from the Wash in Norfolk to Wiltshire and Dorset. This route is peppered particularly with Iron age barrows. Peoples come and go and the Anglo Saxons revered and reused such sites. As for modern man he will be found walking this route for many reason, such a resting spot on this route holds a historic marker and is known as...
The Hawkstone Diddley Squat 8km walk...........and where have I been and whats going on?
Переглядів 2683 місяці тому
Thousands wait frustrated in their cars trying to get a piece of the Didley Squat soap opera, and if you were to look around the unworn footpaths you get the impression that its all a country park. I take a prospective walk past and through the watched but unvisited part of the Clarkeson Empire......and I take a moment to explain why I've been off screen and why the best laid pland of mice and ...
Avebury Spring Equinox barrow camp out
Переглядів 3928 місяців тому
Avebury a neolithic wonderland deep in north Wiltshire has history in abundance. Tied to this is the relationship to time and the changing seasons. I spend some time of my own on a barrow for a night under the stars. I also have a solitary peek at one of the most premier barrows, the West Kennet long barrow

Pill stove hack
Переглядів 4,8 тис.9 місяців тому
Unsatisfied with the tepid heat from my Pill Stove, I've decided to go out and build my own and see if I can improve on the original Using easily bought compounds called vermiculite and perlite, i try to see if a larger surface area helps. At the same time a trial of both materials and common meths in some "trangia lite" burners we see which has the longest lasting and perhaps efficient burn.
Desert camoflage winter woodland stealth camp
Переглядів 63410 місяців тому
Could you take a type of camo designed for the desert and see if it works in a British winter woodland. The shades of leaves and woodland bark could be mirrored to suit. All this in a great piece of forestry looked after by the Forestry Commission. Savenake Forest. And even the Ranger didn't see me while I was barely 50 mts from the track
BCB or not to BCB that is the question
Переглядів 1,6 тис.10 місяців тому
Oooohh another micro break in the seasonal storms gets me the chance to investigate a potential new wild campsite. All good; and the chance to have a field test of the French Army ration heating kit, compaired to a BCB Fire dragon fuel cooker. Theres also a comparison between the good old ultra reliable Stanley Adventure cookset compared to its Far East. share.temu.com/CL9HyHt6cHA

Flecktarn hammock.............Flecktarn Dreaming 3
Переглядів 372Рік тому
I've wanted a flecktarn hammock for what seems like forever, NO ONE sells them commercially or easily. So I've designed and made my very own which hopefully does that and goes beyond. Come take a peek at what i've amalgamated to produce a hammock which went further than its design brief. Many thanks to Mr H NAZARI of Chic tailoring Swindon UK, for enduring and interpreting my pipe dreams and la...

While The JGOFAB production team would have loved to have blown the budget with a Michael Palin style jaunt to our dear neighbour across the English Channel, its a bit of creative necessity that we can explore some Gallic military surplus kit in the delights of the Cotswolds instead. Under the gaze of The Dark Tower.
Steath camping under a cliff.....Czech Army surplus bedroll......Insane asylum....what is going on ?
Переглядів 435Рік тому
So much happening in this video that the title cannot do it justice. First a visit to my old stomping ground in Bristol. I visit the grounds and museum of a old insane asylum, then pop down the road to Snuff Mills Country Park and set up camp. Breaking out a old Czech army surplus bedroll inder a cliff close to the river Frome, and treat myself to a BBQ steak dinner
Hammock camping alongside King Arthur ....... a look at the Battle of Mount Badon
Переглядів 305Рік тому
A bit of a history investigation here. The Battle of Badon was a line drawn in the sand between two very different cultures. The Romano Brits on one side and the Saxons on the other, a fight for dominance or continuace. The year of approx 493 saw a repurposing of a Iron age fort, many built 1200 years previously. I spend a night at a site of contention in that the Battle of Badon was waged and ...

How to use firepaste, in a cold damp wood........will it work
Well, that was interesting. I am enjoying the mix of historical facts and legend aspects together. Isn't the drone a useful tool! Lovely to see Darren with you, he's very blessed to have been shown the lights dancing in front of him. I am looking forward to getting over there again to see more. In the meantime, thank you for taking me with you when you are Just going out 🧡
'Who doesn't like a lovely thick bottom.' Well said sir, well said.
What are peoples opinions on this tent as a winter camping tent?
Great video mate, lots of good information
Enjoy watching your videos
Another great video
Tremendous.
Making good use of the drone!
Another interesting and informative video. I wonder if the cows use the stones as a scratching post 🤔
An interesting day to say the least. Ive given alot of thought as to what i saw, but as of late,i still have no explanation.. places like these held spiritual significance so there is no reason to think that just ups and disappears. I dont thinks its by chance these stones were chosen, as they also contain a heavy amount of quartz which is a great conductor. The chanting, dancing witches in their circle was in interesting uncanny time honoured fashion as well.. loved the drone footage too!
Well that is worth a visit!! Great video
Interesting stuff my friend.
Love the new drone footage!
Enjoy watching your videos
Thanks for demonstrating. I bought this stove to use in my van and then I read the fumes are toxic. So I'm still happy using outdoors. Nice size for my camp gear too. I also have one that burns twigs but need a metal surround for wind breaker.
Looks amazing, all round to yours❤❤xx
Why do I get scared when I see you with a sharp knife in your hand and so close to a naked flame😂. Another great video and no rain this time xx
I’ve just bought the very same tent and I love it
Great video Ralph. I did think I was watching Transformers at one point though.
Lovely video very informative
Yet another great video very informative x
Top video, dude. Food looked tip-top - a lot better than I would've managed.
Great video
Great video. Looks delicious! Certainty beats Burger & Beans. 😂
Certainly does. Less bother the better Mr Abs
Great video pal, just subscribed to show my support, from a fellow UA-camr 😉👍
Thanks Phil, will have a gander at your channel and without fail sub too......how am I doing?
Another great video, its easy available and fun. Showing how easy it is to cook outdoors will be getting newbies all fired up to just go out for a bit.. nice one!
All about accessability, and easy peasy nosh. Cheers my man
Great video mate, watched this one all the way up in Anglesey. Feel like a Just going out for a bit cook book should be in the works!
Love cooking, and will endevour to get more noshing on the Tube
Love the vid 👍👍👍
Thanks, its little comments that make my day
You can buy a 1Kg propane can, some cheapo gas and use an adapater to fill your camp cans for cold weather. WARNING: you have to weigh the cans as you fill them to get the correct 70/30 mix and you don't overfill the can.
Timmy, really good advice here. I didnt know the mix.........thanks
Smashing video as always, great food looked yummy 😋
It was yummy, now its your turn to borrow the gear and make it too.
Great video 👍
Thanks Mike
HI Ralph, yet again you so skill sets that the normal person can hit the ground running with and feed the kids/family and them self when they just go out for a bit. More cooking needs to be sorted for next time with new sights to be seen now that your able to . Great content and always happy to see more 😊
I would like to make much more too
That looked bloody good, definitely going to try that (at home) camping stove sounded like a jet plane, does it burn through the gas quickly?
No it didnt go through the gas in quick time. Tell me how you got on?
Food tastes better when cooked outdoors
Food tastes better when shared too
Love your videos sir! Very Korean inspired! And n'er a better time for it during the golden leaves season ❤
Love Autumn, the slight chill, the colours and the lack of flys and nastys........hope to bring more soon
Great stuff! Nice bit of Korean nosh on an English autumn day! 🍂 🥮🍁🍁
Almost a ideal combo. If I was not driving a bit of Korean beer would have washed it down nicely. Thanks
Nice one! That's a serious cookout man! Enjoyed the video and learning about the different stoves. Love a bit of sizzle! 😅❤😁
One does what one can amigo
I also own exactly the same tent in Flecktarn, also proof all my tents with Fabsil prior to use as this doubles the Hydrostatic Head but my only criticism of it is a build up of condensation if in an area with poor wind/ventilation. Regarding space - it's very generous internally, plus the awning for wet boots prior to the opening means it's a favourite for me. Regards and thanks for the update 👍
Mushrooms?
A slight addiction of mine, and to be fair when researching the various some had mushies
Can you please tell the exact sizes of one puck (original): diameter and height?
Beautiful scenery. It looks lovely there.
Nice to see some knob inuendo in there. Good to see you are up to camping out (not " it up" ;)) once more.
Love the channel name 👍Edit... An old school friend of mine was riding his Motorbike down the M27, and a 6 foot fence panel that was on a flatbed truck in front of him flew off, took him out and nearly killed him, thankfully he survived won a huge payout in compo from the company that had not secured the fence panels on the back of the truck, and he bought himself a piece of land with a home already there out in the sticks in Wales, he always says it's the best thing that ever happened to him.
Please take this as a compliment, i Subbed because of your Knowledge and you do remind me of Bilbo Baggins a tad.
Cheeky, but its usually Benny Hill so I will take that as a compliment as a lad of the Shire.......and my toes are hairy too😁
@@ralphwelsman9989 Thank you, i did binge watch a few of your videos btw, good stuff Thank you again. Samwise Gangees at your Service <3 Gamgee i'm old Thank crikey for google lol, have a great weekend 👍
Great to see you back out camping again❤
Thanks H❤
Very nice drone footage!
Thanks its a work in progress👍👍
Nice looking area. 👍
Plenty of history and scrapping over land here JB😅
Hello from London, Ontario, Canada.
Hello from Wiltshire 👋👋
When I saw the stove my first impression was it looks nice but then having a bit of a think I thunked when he puts a pot on the top it will stop the flow a bit and heat could then come out of the feed hole too! Nice to see you out on a camp after your mishap Ralph. I once knew a young autistic man who loved to ride his bicycle at Scutchamer knob, he used to call it "Scot Chambers knob :) What a weird noise during the night I wonder what caused that. Congrats on getting a drone, a great piece of kit :)
It was a bit ropey at times with sticks falling all over the woods. I shall practice with the stove, the burn chamber seems very small. I've even purchased the DJI Neo..........theres no saving me eh😁
How did the shoulder hold up in the hammock? Cool video and interesting historical locations.. The location of the fight of two English kings and consequently the death, of a king, not your average place or sentence.. how did you find the food pouch? Nice views from the drone as well! Shame about the stove, but you cant beat a trangia in an emergency, just a pain to light if its really cold.. nice to see you always have a back up plan, and really GREAT to see you back in the woods.. when are you planning the next trip?😊
I still scrabble around the floor like a crab with a busted claw, so this seems the way forward, but I will give it a go with tents and bivvys. The Polish soup was OK , luckily Ainslie Harriot was standing by with his Cous Cous. Ive got a plan for a campout with a visit to another longbarrow.
