Installing CHEAP LED Light Pods - Worth it?
Watch me install some cheap lights on my Pathfinder! Off-road lights can be either really cheap or really expensive, so I thought I'd see if the cheapest ones I could find were any good.
Check out the guide on my website (wiring diagram included): www.total-outdoors.com/posts/how-to-install-cheap-led-pod-lights-all-vehicles
Similar light pods you should get: amzn.to/3ZCMMgu
Parts list (what I used):
- Two light pods
- 10 to 20’ of 16 gauge wire
- Fuse holder with a 10 amp fuse
- Spade connectors
- Butt connectors
- Ring connectors
- Scotchlok connectors
- 3 or 5 pin switch
- Heat shrink
- Dielectric grease

    Honestly for ur budget, u should have jump to sylvania off-road lights. They meet and exceeds ur expectations. With around $50 a pair plus hardware. They will perform way better by a long shot, with a 100 years of lighting expertise, and a lifetime warranty. Get the sylvania 3” ultra spot pod lights, or sylvania - 3” X pod wide flood light. Those are way better options for the price. @Totaloutdoors

    Went from factory size 265/70R17 on my 4Runner to 235/75r17. Overall skinny tires does fine all around with improved handling and acceleration, accept if you rock crawl or mud bath which I don’t do. Down side is 235s for17 inch rims are not as common for me.

    On our pathfinder we basically have those same exact pods but we have them mounted on the hood as ditch lights and a 20” light bar our bumper push bar. They do absolutely amazing when we are off road and for the people that drive around with their high beams on it just adds a little flare to lettering them know that ours are brighter lol

    ive been running 32x10.5s but honestly I think ill go to a 32x9.5, sounds crazy to some but in the snow you want tall and skinny, and with lighter weght vehicles skinny tires actually get more traction because they have more pounds per square inch on the ground

  • @elliotschneider5643
    @elliotschneider5643 Місяць тому

    yeah wide tires are actually worse offroad unless it's a very specific tire for a specific terrain, skinny tires are better for 90% of places youll drive with a 4x4

    You better invest in a switch panel right from the start. It would be the only time you'll need to properly penetrate the firewall. The moment you'll need an extra fan, crawler camera, or another lightbar you'll get that an extra 100 bucks were worth each penny.

    Well, the 32 ounce bottle is essentially a 1 liter bottle right? If I’m not mistaken, a liter has 33 ounces. I’m thinking the 40 ounce might be a little overkill for a hike.

After that i'd like to get the front clip off a pre-refresh and put it on, I hope that's possible, i'd like to recreate the truck I loved haha

    I have a question. I have a 97 and my fuel gauge doesn’t work and I’ve seen people talk about replacing the sending unit, but I only see ones that say 98-2000. Do you know if the earlier ones 95-97 work with those still? Or did they change something?

    • @TotalOutdoorsBC
      @TotalOutdoorsBC 3 місяці тому

      I believe that there are some electrical differences between the 1997 and 1998 but there’s a chance it could work, hard to say. It sounds like they might have the model years mixed up though, 95 and 96 are different generations and 99 and 00 have different bodies…

    I'm currently looking at a metallic green (reminds me of the Matchbox cars of my childhood), bullet proof (you read that right, aftermarket but high quality from a top company in Sao Paulo), dark tinted windows all around, awesome wheels, black leather, looking like new 1998 model. You video helped me to make a decision as I want a more analogue car. My only concern was the lower powered engine will make it a slow car considered the roughly 200 kg extra for the bullet proofing. The car doesn't make sense for my use scenario but I love the design with the door handles of the back doors since the first model, which was the hot sh*t when I was a teen. What the heck, after your video I'm going to pull the trigger on my urban tank. Thanks!

    3:03 It's the difference between "durable" and "reliable". New ones are 10x less likely to break _down_ , but 10x _more likely to break_ , in general. Objectively ignoring the old feud part of this - comparing trucks, you used to see Fords broken down with engine troubles, but Chevys having nicely running engines but the entire goddamn steering knuckle broken off. Durable vs. Reliable

    If you still have the EGR. id fix it or delete it as it could be a source if an intake leak or exhaust causing weird readings. The VSS could be related to the terrible solder joints as on the R50 the VSS goes through the dash then to the ECU (from my research)

    I've been working on my 98 pathfinder now for about a year. MY question is about the rear passenger side and the large space around the wheel well and the rear storage space. I thought I had fixed everything, but when I took it for inspection there was a gaping hole below the rear storage on the right from the rear . ALso what do you do to replace the rusty framework?

    nice video, nissan also produced diesel versions of the R50 as well with the TD 2.7 litre 4 cylinder turbo diesel which produced 128 hp and came with both manual and auto transmissions, and the successor to the TD it was the QD32ETi which was 150 hp and then it was replaced with the ZD30 engine which wasn't all that reliable i have a 98 model with the QD32ETI motor in it, done 260 thousand km's (160 thousand miles) on it and still doesn't miss a beat, taken it all over new zealand and done some wild tracks in it

    Heyyy, one quick question. do you prefer flat bars or drop bars for delivering like for 3 or 4 hours per day?

    • @TotalOutdoorsBC
      @TotalOutdoorsBC 4 місяці тому

      I find drop bars (with proper hoods) are more comfortable for longer rides but it depends on the frame geometry. On my blue bike I’m still leaning forward quite a bit with the flat bars so longer rides don’t feel great on my wrists. Could experiment with grips to solve that though? I think drops are the meta in bike touring because you can switch up the positions.
