GERD caused my SIBO
Have you ever had a patient respond negatively during the SIBO or h. pylori testing? Two weeks ago my PCP did a breath test for h. pylori and after I drank the solution, I had a horrible reaction that had me feeling like hot, I was red like I had a sunburn, started to sweat, my body was shaking, I felt like my body was humming/buzzing, and it sent me urgently to the bathroom 5 times. My doctor refused to finish the test. I've had RNY Gastric Bypass 23 years ago, and no gall bladder. I'm suffering still so badly. I had 12 doctor appointments in January, alone. Nobody is giving me answers. I strongly suspect SIBO and/or h. pylori. After two rounds of antibiotics for a tooth infection in September, I haven't been the same. I've lost a lot of weight. I also had a major reaction to taking morphine last week (I'm waiting for lumbar fusion surgery). I have just started taking pain meds and had digestive distress for 10 hours! It was excruciating pain. I won't schedule my back surgery until I get my gut healed because how can I manage the pain after surgery if I can't take anything? I need help.
I bought your app but it list the risk of food but mostly raw how do we identify the risk if the veggies are cooked
The app is set up to measure veggies raw, then cook. The FP will never be higher and in some cases, i.e., carrots, may be a bit lower. This controls for some instances where foods condense quite a bit when cooked, like spinach. For rice, pasta, etc., the values are for servings of cooked food.
I got really sick last January and while in the hospital I took lots of antibiotics... Then things started really hurting me. My stomach was burning constantly. Ive been on Prilosec for yeas on top of this.... Now when i take that pill acid reflux is WORSE... I feel like Im dying.... Actually I am. Im unable to absorb vitamins and minerals. My Vitamin D is really low for one & Im a diabetic with CHF & A-fib
Maybe get his book to see if his approach helps? Sorry for what you're going through. I do think antibiotics throw a lot of people's bodies out of order.
I'm not giving up coffee! ☕
You and me both.
So what do you do if you have both severe LPR and severe SIBO (often caused or worsened to acute presentation by PPI's for the LPR)? To keep the ongoing LPR from activating pepsin already aspirated into the throat/lungs, you need to take the PPI's or H2's but those make the SIBO worse... Is the best route here to take say as little H2's as possible while focussing on treating SIBO to stop the root cause?
Amazing video!!!!
Erythritol has now been shown to cause cardiovascular disease and is NOT good for your gut
So Atkins was the original low carb diet and never mentioned but it helped me understand all this gas crap before this video 😂
I’m only 28 and I’ve had this for 5 years! tried everything including partial fundoplication and hiatal hernia repair and this disease is still taking a huge toll on me. Lost a bunch of weight over the years because of this, lost my career that I worked so hard for and much more. I make videos to help share my experience with this illness but man is this illness brutal. I am 50 % better after surgery but it is still very annoying and life altering. I am trying to beat this disease permanently! I think I’m gonna give this diet a go. Worst that can happen is it just doesn’t work and is another thing on a long list of things I have tried that didn’t work or worked very minimally. Hang in there everyone ✊🏼 keep fighting.
I am also 28, and having this issue from last 2 years!! it is vary annoying, i can’t eat anything dude!! Watching all my friends live to their fullest makes me sad!! how can i get rid of this??
@theprofessor7154 i don't know if this will work for you not thought I would share. I suffered from really pad LPR, the pepsin would work its way up to my throat causing mucus and even trigger asthmatic reactions where I would need an inhaler to open my lungs so that i could breathe. I started not eating after 8pm and took a Claritin 24 hr before bed. The Claritin was mostly for my allergies and post nasal drip but I started to notice the lpr going away. I did this for 2 weeks and the pepsin was gone. I tested it out one night by not taking the Claritin and the following day I had the pepsin trigger my coughing and mucus. I'm on it again and it's working. Hopefully it gives you the same relief for me.
So did it help?
@@Tensilver-in9xz Yea I’d say it helped a bit but didn’t fix the problem
I get strep a lot like at least once a year I also have bad SIBO could the two be related
I'm tired of taking drugs for bad heartburn. I can't even drink water without getting heartburn. If I stop taking the pills, it comes back worse and I end up taking the pills again because I can't stand it
I can't find a doctor who does that ph test!
Somehow I missed this video but its succinct and factual. And since 2016 I have implemented this approach with great results! It makes SO much sense and I highly recommend the books. They were essential for me as I am the type that needs to know WHY all this happens. And Norm delivers a great and detailed analysis of the reasons. I am a recovered SIBO, IBS and reflux sufferer thanks to the Fast Tract Diet!
One extra tip "ginger with cinnamon" make an infusion three drinks per day, will be a good relieve for the inflammation. 👍
hi i have had an issue where i have to clear my throat all the time... like literally all the time throughout the day. i have to keep bottles next to where i am or a bin so i can clear my throat and spit. it gets so much worse when i drink any drink or eat. im 20 years old and ive had it for about 4 years... its getting to the point now where i dont want to eat or drink even if its healthy foods because i just know im going to be clearing my throat for ages. i dont get any heartburn or really any pain i just feel like i have something in my throat 24/7. i also smoke weed and my diet isnt very good ive tried to change these things in the past and havent really stuck to it. if anybody has any advice on what it is or what can help it please let me know i would appreciate it so much👌
If your valve is wide open, you have to have fundoplication. Diet won't matter because anything refluxes up.
Tufts alum here! So glad i found you sir! Ive narrowed my issues down to Migraines connected to excess histamine. DAO before certain meals helped. Is a daily DAO advisable for severe cases in addition to your suggested mods in terms of carbs/diet? Must be something in the Medford water! All the best sir.
Hi. Can l give oregano oil to an 8 year old? Thank you
I been suffering
Very great video ❤. Thank you so much
Dont stuff yourself at meals. Limit fat and simple sugsrs and carbs and c ehat happens
Can hypochlorhydria be reversed or cured permanently?
I'm just know learning about LPR. My NP diagnosed me with GERD about a year ago but my symptoms I'm having now are different; more like LPR. Curious to know your thoughts on using an alginate? It's a common treatment in Europe, from what I hear, but not in the states. After watching your video several times, I'm thinking whole milk yogurt is my biggest trigger. I guess it's time to make some dietary changes :-(
What if you have lpr and gastroparesis ?
What about if you have a hiatal hernia and gastritis ?
I started feeling sudden burning pain in my esophagus after a week of taking NSAIDs forgetting they inhibit the mucosal protection. It seems my pain is more from acute injury that is struggling to heal. I never had any pain or any symptoms of GERD before a week ago. How can I treat this sudden burning pain if its from NSAID induced injury versus chronic GERD? What kinds of supplements help the most?
Finally, somebody explains different gut problems. It's tough to deal with this. Very hard.
Partial Fundoplication made every one of my LPR synptoms significantly worse DONT DO IT
Thanks for this comment. Not the first time I have heard this.
How go manage constipation? I suffer from it and do nit know what to do😢😢
I have months feeling like I have to constantly clear my throat can someone please tell me how to fix this? If there is a diet to follow what is it?
Low thyroid may also cause it?
sadly, at least in US (Nov. '24), the app isn't available via Apple.
We are addressing a technical issue and expect the app to be available on both Apple and Google in a few weeks or sooner. People who already have the app are not affected.
Update: Problem solved, app is available
Very informative on all types of gut bacteria issues
I really like it.

I was Dx with IBS at age 14 Still suffering with idiopathic symptoms 50 years later
i cured gerd by acidifying my stomach with hcl, now i'm working on lpr which i have just been diagnosed with.
Some people actually have low acid reflux. A good test is before eating or drinking anything (in the morning), drink 4 oz of water mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. If you have normal acidic stomach, you should burp within 3 minutes.
I suffered from IMO , but Planet Ayurveda's Ayurvedic treatment cured my disease."
Really mam what you suffered ?
I am finding your information of great value. I am suffering from chronic acid reflux. Currently taking PPI and having some very undesirable side effects like hair loss, unfortunately. Interesting to observe that this condition showed up four months after I went full into a meat diet - 100% meat. I keep blaming the meat diet for my condition, but I am not sure what really causes the problem. Finding difficult to re-introduce meat, mainly eating sweet potatoes and some occasional salmon. Even drinking water can trigger acid reflux. I would appreciate some insights on this. Thank you for your work.
So removing fermentable carbohydrates basically means... you can't go wrong with keto, right?
Yes and no. Keto does limit dietary carbs. But fiber (many types) and most sugar alcohols except erythritol are fermentable, but not counted on a keto diet.
Unfortunately I discovered that your app isn’t available in the UK. 😢
The app is not available for sale currently due to a technical issue which will be fixed in the coming weeks. This does not affect people who already have the app and will be addressed in the coming weeks. At that point, it will be available in UK and most other countries.
GAMEPLAN: (if you have low stomach acid) try HCL betaine with supplements such as B12 and Magnesium citrate. you will instantly get 90% fine, then you will have to keep nourishing the good bacteria by eating a bowl of veg(fiber), continue the HCL and avoid carbs as much as you can to reduce the bad bacteria. the HCL will also kill the bad bacteria that cant survive the acid just like stomach acid. if you continue HCL betaine you will start feeling improvements from 90 to 91% then 92% and all the way up to 100%. once you are fully fixed. stop all medications. it can take 1 month to a year, take HCL with protein meals not empty stomach. dont drink water for 90 minutes after you ate HCL. then after 90 minutes you can drink lots of water as needed. better if you take digestive enzymes pill with meals and also vinegar for better digestion, if the throat is not inflamed due to acid. if the thorat is inflamed, then first reduce the inflamation for 1 week by not eating acidic foods or refluxing foods such as high carbs food or common trigger foods
What about the ear fullness?
My reflux was pretty bad on keto still, so surely my case is not caused by carbs?
Wouldn't it make sense to produce a profile of the individual's micro biom composition and develop a strategy that works for that composition of the individual? Dividing people within certain categories is an ok approach but I think because each and every person can be so different and the composition of the micro biom can vary so widely, categories just don't make sense to me. Heck someone could have a little of all those categories, I feel it goes a little deeper than how we think of it at the current time.
He wrote a book about it LPR. 7:28 minute mark .. erythritol is the only sugar that’s gut healthy.
He does consultation also and has an app.
Hello, is the fast tract diet you mentioned similar to low fodmap?
Both diets restrict certain types of "fermentable carbs". But there are significant differences. The FTD is a system based on limiting fermentable carbs, introducing pro-digestion practices, and addressing underlying causes. FTD is quantitative using the FP calculation which utilizes the glycemic index and nutritional facts for any food. One other big difference is that FTD limits the same food types as FODMAP, but also limits resistant starch and fiber.
I did keto and it flared me up
Check for fiber (not restricted on keto) and consider the many possible underlying or contributing causes.
Alicin, oregano oil, neem, berberine and I added wormwood+black walnut for parasite insurance! Works like a charm but I also use ACV+Lemon before meals, I use bile because yellow stool sucks and super enzymes! Also low fodmap, higher protein, I was able to put on 10lbs of weight in no time which was impossible before.
For how long did you this and did it come back or how long is it over? Thanks for an answer and kind regards
@ protocol is 4-8 weeks, I noticed immediate improvement in wellbeing after the first dose and the following day my stool movement was totally normal(very weird considering its been years) another important thing is to avoid probiotics IF they cause discomfort, you can also try using probiotics FIRST and see if they help you. Its helped my family members and friends, ones who craved sweets at night and couldn’t handle spicy food no longer deal with these problems. Diagnosing SIBO is very hit or miss, I can only speak from personal experience. Constipation + Diarrhea that’s consistent, gasiness after FODMAP foods, burping as well(onion and garlic), night cravings, bad breath, fatigue after carbohydrate heavy meals. These are all symptoms of SIBO. Make sure to use probiotics after your protocol.
@ Thank you for the answer! Did you take the Alicin, oregano oil, neem, berberine and wormwood +black walnut all together in the morning and evening or how do you handle this? And did you now still eating low foodmap?
@Jonaaaah is it a supplement?
