Failed to mention material cost to make these manifolds.
Never use a wire wheel on stainless. Use a radial bristle brush.
Do yourself a favor and buy a positioner for beveling.
Wear some gloves. Please!
yeah, sure you can and A LOT MORE.. But, it's not as easy as it looks and if you fuk up someones engine due to your 'lack of experience', that $1000/day wont cover the lawyers.. Good idea, but not for everyone..
I make 100lb gear drives for airboats in a family shop, which means I also package and ship them. Your effort in packaging is nice to see, for sure!
I'm that much closer to making my own exhaust tubes! Thank you for helping to motivate me. I still want to get some glass cups, a dual regulator and a few other things... but I picked up the Lincoln TIG200 and I'm waiting for lincoln to send me the helmet!
I’m in Newfoundland where can I order supplies from online here in Canada?
good video bro, What type of welding did you use here, ? TIG, MIG...etc
even better for your aluminum vice jaws... make slip on plastic jaws. 3d print or just chop an an old plastic box up, whatever you do itll be better because plastic is always softer than all metals. your aluminum jaws will still scratch soft metals like brass or aluminum if you ever work different material.
what and sell them all to the one guy who owns an rx7 in my country lol
$1000 a day and the cusutomers just appear. If you build it, they will come.😂
I actually repair dpf flanges quite often at my work. The large 11 and 12" diameter flanges are pretty fun.
That sounds like fun! Really cool to hear about someone else doing this. Do you make the flanges too?
@@gleaseman I do actually! I mainly use 1/4" s.s plate that I cnc plasma cut, then roll 1/8" plate into a barrel shape. I then machine the plasma cut piece to slip fit over the barrel, tig weld it, then set up in a lathe and machine the taper. Then after carefully measuring the old flange length, i cut it off (generally a bit further back to reduce warping the new flange during welding) and weld the new section in place. The process is very similar on both the male and female sections. I've made multiple bullet aluminum heat sinks for the different dpfs I repair.
Why did you quit making them, did they end up becoming unprofitable?
When I stopped making them in 2019, it was all you can eat, as many as I could build I'd sell. There's more to the story I'll explain in a video later, but I wanted to pursue bigger fish and I needed my time freed up to do that.
@gleaseman I'm the guy that told you about your website being down, keep up the good work.
How many amps did you run i feel mine are getting burnt out
Around 75-85 amps
OK, I already see an easier way to do this then using that metal frame to put all those pieces together. Why don’t you just use some sort of silicone mold that holds the pieces together? You can get a silicone mold done cut it in half long ways. That way it can hold the item in different positions so that you can add more tax to different parts of the structure?
after you sell the first “prototype” manifold that it was not on the market, that one will go to china and they will start doing the same for 20% of your price….and the dream stops there😅😅
Beautiful work man
HELLO MY FRIEND I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME SOME HOPE FOR MY FUTURE IM 56 AND WAS A MASTER CARPENTER BOAT BUILDER BUT SOMETHING IS WRONG I DONT KNOW WHAT CANT AFFORD THE DOCTOR BUT IM TRYING TO REINVENT MYSELF I HAVE LEARNED CAD MODELING AND BUT DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO I CANT WALK TO GOOD NOW MY RIGHT LEG STOP WORKING I ALSO WAS A COMERCIAL FUSHERMAN I RAN 100 FT SHRIMPBOATS I CANT DO THAT ANYMORE AFTER 40YRS BUT THIS VIDEO GAVE ME HOPE SO I DONT FKING STARVE IM NOT ONE FOR GOVERNMENT HELP NEVER HAVE NEVER WILL THANK YOU MY FRIEND THIS IS SOMETHING I KNOW I CAN DO BECAUSE I LOVE THIS KIND OF FABRICATION SO I KNOW I CAN DO IT NOW HAVE TO FIND AWAY TO GET THE TOOLS THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INSPIRATION TO NOT GIVE UP AND DIE BUT THAT MIGHT HAPPEN ANYWAY
Beautiful job, awesome.
Good video. Succinct.
$1000/day if you can find people willing to buy the stuff. That's been my issue.
How do you sell the manifolds, is it through social media mostly?

beautiful 2nd gen mitutoyo digimatic @4:44!!!😍
Thanks, nice eye!
i am now cursed with this knowledge
Thanks for the inspirational video.
4:15 This could for sure be made simpler with some 3d printed supports.
I tried going to your website, but for some reason, it wasn't working. My question is, do you build custom manifolds per individual application? I own two 94 Honda Preludes. One is turboed on an H22A motor.
Man I really want to do this as a side gig, I really enjoy Tig welding for work, but my 23 year career has taken a nose dive I’m scrambling to find something to fill the finances that I’m losing.
Never making 1000 dollars a day because you arent selling these everyday. Its not a demanded product or a needed product
Not talking shit just seems like a lucrative thing to do
My little meat hooks are more interested in this guys watch 😂, You know this video was filmed back in the 90’s judging on that old Skool gangster Casio calculator watch
Well, I was with you right up until you blurted out $1000 Canadian. What's that, Like $9.82 US?
Every workmen dream have machine like that at home but its just not possible 😢
Just some constructive advice. The tube you use is way too heavy , the flanges I would have had made with a weld neck instead of flat with a fillet weld to insure full and proper penetrative weld, have you thought about using pie cut sections for bends? Please put that belt sander in the bin and invest in a milling machine. That was by far the very best shipping crate I have ever seen
Sure you can make $1000 in a day. $1000 a day, 5 days a week, every week? Not sure about that.
It'll likely take a few years, but the idea is that it's so enjoyable to make larger sums of money at once that you'll keep finding more and more work to put out. The snowball grows quickly as you gain momentum, and the more money you earn, the easier it is to keep making more.
@gleaseman I can see that. I would really like to do this, I love building and I find welding fascinating. But how do you advertise your product when you're just starting out? Do you sell pre-made ones, or do you advertise your ability and go "looking" for customers wanting custom work?
@firstNamelastName-ho6lv hope this helps ua-cam.com/video/4BlPtFBMYeU/v-deo.html
Can you build one up pipe for 2016 to 2019 titan xd diesel the ones other dudes build are crap they leak everywhere
What die grinders are you using?
never seen such perfectionism carefully and methodically executed. A man in the same vein as myself! I also dig the good packing/shipping. It's got to get to where it needs to hassle free. Kudus bro!
Just simple tools 😂😂😂😂
$1000 is all you need to start
Thanks for performing ❤
I don't have the money or space to take such a thing on but I do thorough enjoy watching this stuff while I am at work. All the best from England.
How did you get started in this field. What’s your doing for people it’s rare, thank you for your time. This speaks to me. Of you got any info on how I can get started please let me know.
Thanks for this video, it would be great if you could make a video of the complete disassembly of this lighter. I'm taking apart this exact lighter but I can't keep the parts in place, I mean the wheel part.
I'm convinced you could replicate the ultra rare Honda Mugen G25A 5-3-1 manifold. Impressive work!
Why he say "gosh I hate building manifolds"? Lmao
Exactly, I was just scrolling the comments ton see if I was the only one thinking the same thing and the way he said it didn't sound sarcastic either lol.
I don't want to be that guy but I would seriously recommend some form of respirator. It's annoying to wear but it's better than breathing in metal shards and invisible fumes. But very nice work
A proper jig to orient and hold each section for ease and consistency in production work
Thanks for this detailed video. This helped me repair an vintage lighter I was gifted this xmas. MUCH APPRECIATED and Merry Christmas 2024
Congrats on the repair!
you could make supports on the jig so you dont make it a juggling act while tacking
