Did you have to take the window appliqué to get the window guide out?

How did you put it together? As a one peace or part by part?

When I did this repair I took the window Motor out. I didn’t remove any of the cables because I didn’t want to mess with it as I don’t have much knowledge in that but a tip i can give when putting the window motor back in is to screw the two 10 mil bolts on the bottom to the metal windows tracks. That brings the metal tracks to the door card and then you can screw the top and the motor should line up at that point.

I have the same issue on both rear doors. I'm gonna take a few days pto from work to tackle them. This whole van is a bad design. I just did a oil cooler housing swap. My cheap plastic one sprung a leak coating my driveway with engine oil. I installed a aftermarket aluminum one. Owning this van is like playing whack a mole. Knock one problem down, another one pops up.

Waranty is extended on door issue for year 2015-2017 Don’t do anything yourself just take it to Chrysler dealer and get fixed at no charge.

I heard you don’t have to put that back window track bar back in. Do you know if that’s true?

It was easier for me to take the door off, after you lower the window and loosen the 2 nuts holding the glass window.

IMPORTANT!! Try forcing open the lock on the sliding door while pressing the unlock button on the driver 's door it may clear the jam in the actuator and fix the problem. Try it several times if it doesn't work from the first time.

2017 Grand Caravan owners - this issue is covered under an EXTENDED WARRANTY! Call your dealer first to check. I found my letter from FCA after completing this repair and was pretty bummed that I did all of this myself with no method for reimbursement. If yours is not covered here are my lessons learned: Do not disconnect any of the cables or rods from the plastic door assembly itself - it will not help. Disconnecting the door handle cable from inside the door was a must along with unscrewing both the front and rear door latches. Finally and most importantly, the assembly with the lock actuator is foam taped to the inside of your C pillar! The plastic trim on the c pillar (outside rear pillar of the sliding door) must be removed. Not only does this make install a breeze, it has to be resealed anyways to prevent water intrusion into the door. I spent hours fighting this before I figured out what was going on.

You can loosen both window nuts at the same time. You have to bring the window down fully and then the nuts are visible. You know where the left one is, the right one you can open the small round rubber cover near the bottom of the panel.

I can't believe the number of videos about this repair and how long this issue has been going on. So, there's no recall, and the DOT does nothing to force Chrysler/Dodge to address this issue. Thanks to everybody who has contributed to the fix.

How’s you get that damn black vertical track back on the window correctly?!

Take the window out get the actuator in and then u can guide the window into the slide you have to remove the black trim panel on the outside rear of the door so double sided tape, and then you tilt window back and take out from outside the car

Great videos thank you. I did the repair today on a 2016 it took me about 6 hours. I will say I did not have to remove the cables for the door handle or front latch. There is plenty of slack in both (just remove plastic push clips) to remove the inner door panel. Once removed I just replaced the modulator and put the door back together. I will say getting the door panel removed was really challenging. Took me like 90 minutes. For me it didn't dislodge easily. Putting it back was similarly difficult. I had to use a bit of force to get the track back up the channel. Everything came out great. Thanks!

Huge short cut! I've done four of these and can now do the complete job in 20 minutes. Follow Julio's method, but completely remove the window. With the window out, you can remove and reinstall the door panel in seconds. No hassle at all. Thank you for the video Julio. READ THIS - IF YOUR SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK AND UNABLE TO OPEN. I was unable to open driver side sliding door for months (no buzzing noise from lock mechanism on this side). The manual lock actuator for this door was stuck and could not be forced. The tip about pressing the unlock button and forcing the manual door lock at the same time worked to release the actuator!! KEEP IN MIND... This did not work when using the unlock button on the remote... I had to use the unlock button on the driver door. Now the door lock on this side works fine (like it was never broken) and I am able to open the door. Not sure how long this will last but at least I can open the door currently. Give it a try!

Thanks for the video Julio, I watched it multiple times before attempting the repair. I may of not tried it myself without your video. By doing this myself I saved over $1k. I paid extra for a Dorman part because I was saving so much money, but probably all made in the same factory. I followed effword1 tip of removing the window which made it a lot easier, but resulted in more work getting the appliqué back on. I also broke the bracket holding the clips when removing it. I just meet the same problem in these 2 weeks. The actuator is making noise and stops working intermittently. I took the actuator out and opened it on Sunday. The teeth of the plastic gear were damaged and got grooves on them. I am waiting for the new actuators to come so that I am able to complete the job.

I'm in the middle of this as well. I got everything back in, but having trouble connecting the window guide (running blind) and getting the window back onto it's bolted pieces. I'm a little lost but still tinkering.

@Julio Niño, thank you for your video, yours was the most comprehensive and concise and led me to attempt this repair. Bought an aftermarket actuator and a set of car trim tools that helped release the clips without destroying any, total cost under $40 and I'm back up and running. For some reason the other videos I found did not address how to deal with the power window so that was helpful as well. Took me most of my Saturday but you helped me save hundreds of dollars.

This is the best method by far. I'm impressed you got the window guide in there while attached to the whole assembly! I've done our 2010 passenger side 3x and now that one is dead. Screw it-I'm going to relocate my actuator so its just behind the panel. My theory is the door lock rod is too long and has too much resistance snaking in and out of all that crap causing the motors to fail. I seem to get 1.5-2 years out of the actuator...really bad design.

I regret the purchase of our town and country more and more with every repair. Unnecessarily complicated to replace something so simple. Also, total horse shit that when it fails you can't manually lock the door. Grrr.

Been working on this for 4 hrs. I'm to the part of putting window guide in. Does the rail go behind the electric motor or in front. That's the part you took a break. And magically it was put in. My advice to anyone. Take it to a dealer .

Solid, i changed the passenger side sliding door actulator and took everything apart , now i going change the driver side sliding door actulator and I going do your style better than the other UA-cam videos, right on USO ccheeehhooo thank's for your video 🤙😎

My door will “not” open using the key fob or manually trying to manipulate the locking actuator. Has anyone found a solution to this problem and got the door to open?

Hi, I'm a professional (40 yrs) and this is my first door lock replacement on these Chrysler sliding doors and found myself overwhelmed w/ all that had to be removed just to reach the door lock solenoid. I got as far as I was almost able to remove the entire assembly but hit a snag. Your instruction to tilt the last 6 inches and slide the whole assembly is just what I needed to hear, thanks for taking the time to video and explain how to get the job done.

Damn! Too many people with the same problem! Including me! Shame on you Chrysler. I asked a Chrysler dealer repair representative about a clicking noise when I move the shift knob out of park. He said it was an actuator that makes the click after a few years. He said it's normal. I told him this is bad engineering on Chrysler's part. He replied, "We just fix them. Not design them.". This is the Chrysler dealer telling me this! Again.... SHAME ON YOU CHRYSLER FOR ALL THESE PARTS WEARING OUT TOO SOON!!!
