Oh man so much of this resonates with me. I started UA-cam and told myself it was to document family memories and is a creative outlet for me. This past year I had to confront the lies I was telling myself. I was comparing myself to other more successful content creators, I was chasing numbers and metrics and I became miserable in the process. I have a new outlook on my channel now. I work full time as an ICU Nurse, I am a mom and the truth is I only have time for maybe one or two videos a month. I got stuck for a bit in creating fake cakes and cupcakes and I started loathing making those videos because I am a creative person and not one dimensional. I was catering to the algorithm and it was time to stop that. I have decided it is unlikely I will accumulate 100s of thousands of subscribers with the limited time and energy I have to invest in UA-cam but I am focusing on the community I do have. I have a few “ride or dies” who watch every single one of my videos and I would rather have that than a hundred thousand subscribers who have no interest in getting to know me. I say you do u, and do what makes u happy. As a viewer when I turn on UA-cam, the channels I watch are the channels who don’t try hard, the creators who don’t have a schedule, who post when they post sometimes once a week sometimes twice a day and sometimes in months. The people that show a sink with dirty dishes, or a room full of kid toys or dog toys because that’s real life. As a person who works 8/10hrs a day because the economy sucks I watch UA-cam when I can. I love catching up on videos because realistically I can’t always watch stuff when creators post. And regular people don’t live Pinterest lives. Watching people go to all the spooky stuff is fun and all but realistically reg people can’t afford to do it all anymore. Hope you find your magic💚

Mr. Spooks here: I don’t ever say much but today, I need to. First, I want to say congrats to Mandy for taking the leap I’ve known she’s been afraid to for a long time. Second, thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years and most importantly, to those of you who have stuck around and will continue to stick around as we continue to evolve. I’ve stayed quiet for a long time but I will not stand by comments or messages that will make Mandy feel guilty for her decision. Unless you have someone else paying the bills or live somewhere where the cost of living is lower…yeah, it’s almost impossible to make a career out of being a content creator. Mandy Spooks has killed herself over the years trying to balance work, her family, and this channel. We both have full-time jobs so we dedicate all of our free time to creating content for this community. All it’s given to her is stress from other creators outright stealing her ideas or an uphill battle of not bowing down to the YT algorithm. To say she’s putting a negative message out when all she’s ever done is spread magic and positivity shows that you do not know who she really is or what this community means to her. I’m proud of her decision because she is working on something that no one else will be able to replicate. Mandy Spooks is bigger than YT and will continue to move this community forward just like she always has.

I swear to goodness, something is in the air. I did the same thing a few weeks ago and I am WAYYYYY older than you. I find myself circling back to what I love- even if I am arriving a few decades later. I shut out the noise, and everyone else's opinion and I just dove it! WE GOT THIS! <3

I dont understand why people quit, but if you heart is not in it any more and rather do other stuff cool, it's just i want to build a youtube channel and I guess what i learned from this is its impossible which is a sad message. I refuse to be discouraged and and still will follow my dreams to be a youtuber no matter if I get famous or not😊

Hun, take a break. We all have to step back and see where we are. You are no different than alot of others...we all look at where we are at times in our lives and think,"what the hell am I doing?" You do what you think you need to do, Utube isn't the world. You have the world all around you---go out, look around, and see what the world has to offer you now. Social media can make you doubt who you are, what you should be doing...don't look at others, look in the mirror and see----you! Honestly I feel like the age of influencers is coming to an end, and that's mostly due to the commercialization and well.....they're so fake. I think people are beginning to disengage and look for someting authentic, like living their lives, just like what you're doing. Don't ever feel bad for that.

One of the things I love most about fall is the reminder to shed the old leaves that no longer serve us as we prepare for the next season. I found your channel when I was in a season of shedding much of what no longer served me and can speak now from the other side that it is so worth it! A short story you may enjoy from a recent drive... My husband (in conversation with me in the front seat): I have doubt.
