CHASING PEAKS | A West Coast Bowhunting Film | Chamois and Red Deer hunting in New Zealand
This trip was one to remember! What an epic adventure in some of the most remote country in New Zealand. Owen and myself were so close to success this trip that it wasn't funny. Hope you enjoyed the film.

Hi from Perth Western aust kiwi from Cambridge I bow shoot in wa what poundage bows are u bros shooting and do u aim right on goat or do u give it bit led ? Cheers Tooke wa
60lb is the mere average, a lot of people shoot 70+ few shoot 50ish lbs... aim on man, if the goat is on the move then you might counter for the movement.
Dude your pretty legit!
thanks Angus!
Thanks for the sharing beautiful

Where is this beach?
The marine reserve is the east side of the peninsular, just past the pier hotel and bar. Then the rest is filmed down south of Kaikoura.
Mean ,what camera ya using?
Main camera is a Sony A7R but I use the GoPro11 and the DJI Mavic drone, also a Nikon P1000 for the zoom👍

Is a certain better to fish for the salmon? and do you let the lure drop and slow retrieve or?
Awesome effort guys - stick with the bow hunting - the bigger the effort - the bigger the reward eh!
I wonder what is the best season for salmon fishing in Kaikura ?
Late August or early September, they are usually ‘running’ then.
Trad bow or no go! Man, that's a pricey set a training wheels you got.
A nice small Salmon. Not massive lol.
Nice Salmon, we used to catch them up to 30lb in the Otago Harbour sadly the fish releases stopped and the fishery is no more.
Why did the fish releases stop?
The releases stopped due to the trust folding that operated the hatchery that released them every year.@@CalTheKiwi1
I have just subscribed to your channel I like the way you present your videos and keep it real 👍
Cheers for the comment man! I appreciate the support
Kia Ora! Like & Sub ✌🏼
Beautiful content
People have so many options for ashy they can eat yet you choose to further deplete the only food of the local wildlife and compete with them for their only food source. Did you know 1000 seals have died of starvation in the last 5 months in Kaikoura? Just been on the news. Nice one mate you must be proud contributing to that.
Hes a beast
Good work lads! Well put together, clip.
Owen and Hector this was sick! Great footage, looked like a great time! Next time I am coming with, and when y'all want to come hunt elk in the states you let me know!
Glad you enjoyed it Preston, feel free to share it around. Yes it will be awesome to do an Elk trip in the states!
nice hunting but you need to work on the video zoom in a bit more on the impact shots els its like a hiking video
cheers for the feedback, yes I agree 👍
😢MALDITO!
.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but I find it horrible how you kill a beautiful animal like that and just take the head when you could have taken all the meat Also I agree with hunting but only for the food not for a head to have above your mantle
You beauty!
Wow the memories of my feed at Inns Bins. I will be back
Awesome video bro
These were originally McCloud River winter chinook from California
🙏 Promo>SM
Nice video
Sick mission lads & some real cool shots/footage in there. Well done
thanks man, appreciate the comment!
Epic trip lads, a bit more patience on the first chamois might have paid dividends, thanx for sharing
Awesome guys! Love it! You have an eye for the shots man! Nice work! Look forward to the next one!!
Thanks man, More to come!
Well done! Good to see a few more NZ bow hunting videos.
Amazing cinematography, high quality stuff. Keep it up, excited to see more 🔥🔥🔥
Cheers Giorgio 👍
looks like it has ear tags and paint on its wool
Cool vid bro
Yummy.
Hi bro how are you,,can we talk by email or whatsup please??
I was guest in NZ in 2015 on an exchange that took place between California and NZ for waterfowl hunting. The people, landscapes and different species of waterfowl were something I'll appreciate for the rest of my life. The far NW of CA has a lot in common with the South Island. I also got to go out on a spawner survey for salmon on June 1st on the Hokitika River. Being a salmon guy, it was amazing to see how Chinook from California had adapted to such a similar but different environment on the other side of the globe to sustain its own wild run there in NZ. NZ is the only place where Pacific salmon have been established as self-sustaining. Our Sacramento River "Winter-run" Chinook are believed to have been the primary source for the introduction, which spawn in May-June here. The Winter-run is endangered here as dams cutting them off from their higher altitude and glacial melt fed spawning grounds and almost countless water diversions on the way downstream to the ocean. Enjoy what you've got and support protection your rivers and the great fishing you have. Mitch
Thanks for taking the time to write that interesting comment Mitch! Yeah that is very interesting, I’m hoping to do some more fishing regarding salmon…
Naturallized chinook populations have been established all over the world including Europe, South America, and Great Lakes in the USA
what do you do for work?
I'm a highschool student my mate who stared in the film is a mechanic...
awesome catch. best when all plans come together.
Good stuff, awesome video
I have been looking for an outstanding video on the subject and found it today with this video! I have a love of collecting shellfish for fun and to eat. I have never gone after Paua. Bu hope to change that soon! I have subscribed and look forward to more adventures on your channel! :)
thanks man
Wounderful filming there! Great video to watch. Keep it up, next time you'll be lucky
Maybe next time…….look forward to the next time. Good territory lads
Enjoyed that, may i ask what make of Rod and Reel, and line weight were you using, Thanks.
Shimano rod a baitrunner Shimano reel, I think the line was a nylon braid line... hope that answers your question.
Great video Hec.
I'm very impressed by your video and have subscribed.
What month of the year did you catch your salmon???
Early September 👍
