    Cold shower!? I'd rather have slower recovery. 🤣 (Not saying it's not good advice. It's winter down here right now).

    Not running in an empty stomach? 🤔

      Not recommended, when you have some food you have more energy to run at higher intensities. But it doesn't need to be a full meal either. Try having a banana and see if you need more.

    Please stop running, especially for long periods. This machine was designed to move, for motion is lotion. “Move” does not mean overreacting. I’m a former Olympic weightlifter, and I wish someone took the time to explain to me that our bodies were not meant to do 99% of the things we consider good and normal to do today. I’m almost 100% certain that my message would fall on deaf ears, however I said what had to be said. Each to their own.

    For long distance running you want to maintain nasal breathing. Once you start breathing through your mouth your heart rate will increase rapidly, leading to more lactic acid build up. You want to train yourself to breath stradily through your nose over long distances due to the direct relationship between breathing and heart rate. (Increased heart rate does lead to more rapid, and eventually mouth breathing. But conversely, more rapid breathing and mouth breathing lead to an increased heart rate) If you find this difficult , start by doing it at a very easy pace. The type of breathing mentioned is likely good for sprinting but is inefficient over a longer distance.

    Can i use my maxflys for longjump? Btw my event is 100 and longjump

    • @BeUnstoppabl
      @BeUnstoppabl Місяць тому

      Long Jump and Triple Jump spikes have more structure and cushioning in the heel and foot plate for take off. Maxflys are designed more for forefoot only and don't have much support in the heel. You may find they push your foot forward which can put more force through the shins and with repeated use could lead to tight shin muscles and potentially shin splints.

    Fascinating stuff! I’m determined that this is the year I prioritize my ultra running. Starting next year, it’ll have to take a back seat, 50ks only. This year, I want to be a beast, so I need to lose about 12 lbs to tackle those goals.

  • @Kelly_Ben
    @Kelly_Ben 3 місяці тому

    Not gonna lie, I’m watching this while munching on Easter candy… for breakfast. 😂😢 I’ve only got about 12 lbs to lose, and I’m not unhappy with my body… but with my first 100k coming up, I need every edge I can get to finish. Shedding 5-10 lbs will probably help. Loved this. Simple realistic changes. Love that you recommend the run/walk method too!

    My nose has been broken several times so breathing through it doesn’t work. When I’m running my legs aren’t an issue. But it feels as though I have like an air bubble in my chest. So it’s hard for me to keep my breath.

    According to latest science.... You have more oxygen going to the tissues the more carbon dioxide is in the blood.....lower bpr increases that. So just talking in more oxygen doesn't equate more oxygen consumption. And breathing mostly through your nose is, probably, better.... Read James Nestors book in that.
