    As a point of conversation why do you use a mechanical head? I also believe the Sevr design is as good as it’s going to be for function and reliability. Even the original design by the Ulmer brothers worked great for my son. I know you can and have taken game at extended distances partly because these heads fly so well. In all my years I have never used any mechanical head. I prefer smaller fixed blade heads. Back in the day there wasn’t any mechanical heads and with my continued success why change? On a good day I have shot my fixed blade heads, Magnus Black Hornets, inside a 5” group at 80 yards. Showing me they will hit behind the pin. Now I won’t shoot a game animal past 40 yards because of the inherent possibility of it moving. Point is a fixed blade head in itself will not fail is my thoughts on which head to use. I surely enjoy your videos.👍👍

    Looking forward to see these arrows at work. Remember they are for hunting and you need the momentum at longer distances - especially for broad mechanicals. The lighter you go the more you lose momentum at distance. No good reaching the animal with enough energy to wound. How much more do you think a 570 gr arrow will drop compared to a 500gr arrow - at 60 yrds? There's a video for you - 450, 500 and 550 gr arrows shot at 20m, 40m and 60m and lets compare the drop. Sight them in for each arrow weight and misjudge distance - shoot at 35m and 45m when using 40m pin.

    It would be interesting to build a normal 650 to 750 grain arrow, with 300 grain broadhead up front - simply for penetration sake. Also to see the speed in which the arrow gets to the target, assumingly quicker with less drop. The penetration just doesn't seem like it's there with the simple mass of the flying log. Localizing the weight more upfront would have the effect of pulling the arrow through the body. And there are few targets that can hold a heavy grain high FOC arrow.

    • @outdoorswithtravis
      @outdoorswithtravis 9 днів тому

      I love an arrow in the high 500s to mid 600s. 💪🏼💪🏼 At the end of the day on our side we purely experimenting, testing and playing around 💪🏼

    • @The_Judge300
      @The_Judge300 9 днів тому

      I shoot a 650 grain arrow with my 70 lbs bow and my draw length is 32 inches and the foc is 15%. The arrow leaves the bow at 260 fps. The furthest distance I have shot at and killed and killed an animal, was a 56 metesr shot that hit the top of the heart of a Red Hartebeest and broke through the humerus on the other side where the arrow was just hanging by the fletching on the other side. I only hunt by stalking and never sit in a blind at a waterhole/salt block/feed and I have zero problems with gap shooting out to 60 meters and even more, but I have 60 meters as my maximum limit when shooting at the animals I hunt with that bow. I have a 80 lbs bow as well and I have pins out to 80 meters when I use the same arrow, but I do not remember the speed.
