I've met Crab twice. In 2003 when he was in Ratt and in 2022 when he toured with Winger and Tom Keifer. Such a multi-talented guy who's approachable and down to earth.
Crue had a better image and girls liked them better. Plus their 1st 2 albums were heavier
Yngwie great song writer
I remember riding on the metro. Tom Zutaut came to a showcase for my band in the late 90’s.
I got Metal rendez vouz and headhunter LP's from my big bro back in the 80's and those were the intro drug that made me the metalhead I am to day. Bought the cd's when the lp's were worned out.. and probably both albums are in my top 10 most listened albums in my life so..Thnx <3 Krokus; Play'em live and I'm there <3
Chris is definitely a faster and cleaner alternate picker than Yngwie.
very cooool.....salut from MFD
R.I.P. Jack Russel
A damn good singer who also has a great sense of humor as well.
cindy was an amazing live band, to love them u needed to see them
How'd he forget Inland Empire? Poser.
What a nice humble gentleman Phil is. LA Guns Rocks!
been a ghost town for a long time
John was great on the screams cd and the motley cd. Nothing after that was anything I liked
That record John did with The Scream should've blown up big-time. Great songs and gnarly guitar tones -- there wasn't anything on that record to dislike.
I’ve followed John ever since that album.
Excellent interview, as always! There was a documentary on the Empire Rock Club, that never materialized. The preview is still up, and features Jeff LaBar and G.G. from Heavens Edge, both sadly deceased. Would be curious if anyone knows what became of this: m.ua-cam.com/video/TSeX59ij6Kw/v-deo.html&pp=ygUPQWxsIGFnZXMgc3VuZGF5
I love everything John Corabi has done musically. Those 2 Union albums are excellent along with the Motley Crue CD.
In that thumbnail he looks prettier than most Chickies I see at Metal shows these daze...lmao
John's son , Ian is a great drummer. I've had the honor of hanging out with him and the other guys in Rehab
Love me some union
Right on, JC is a solid, straight shooter from every interview I’ve heard.
Too Fast For Love and the Corabi record are my 2 favorite Crue albums.
I think the Motley album with John is their best. Very underrated and under appreciated. So much more depth with the second guitar.
Meh. They should have called it something else. Said it's a Project. Then when everyone hated it, they could have begged Vince to come back. Those guys were made for each other. Corabi was his best with UNION.
As the album stands on its own without the motley Crue moniker it's a great one..
Agree, My favorite Crue album as well ..
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Ghost country
I spent way too much time at the Empire and the Galaxy. Teeze/Rough House probably had the biggest following, they ended up getting signed to CBS. Corabi mentioned World War III. At one point, Johnny Dee and Dean Davison (Britny Fox} both played drums for World War III. Greg Howl also came out of those clubs. I don't remember Corabi''s band at all.
3/5 of my band moved to Philly in ‘90 and took a different approach. We played the Galaxy and the Empire was already gone so we rented a big ass warehouse in the NE right off I-95 and had ragers once a month to pay the bills and gigged out the rest of the time. Good Times living in your own, anything goes speak easy / practice space.
He sounds like a real down to earth guy.
I walked into a guitar center and Corabi was doing a guitar clinic around 2010. I sat and watched the whole thing. He was so chill and approachable. I rooted for him ever since.
I think i saw jeff live.,? I know it was warlock, udo, and megadeth, 1988, detroit...so far tour.
The shows that never were with Jason Becker and DLR...such a shame!!!
Pete Angellus was the Fifth member of Van Halen, is how they referred in those early tours. When I met Roth after the VHII 79 show in Logan Utah, when Pete walked by in his suit coat and jeans, Roth said "did you get it?" and Pete showed shook the Ampex Tape Box large reel either quarter inch or half inch, Roth said Alright ! After he had opened the box to show him. It was a board mix tape of the show. Pete was very involved in the background, probably taking care of things like that.
Alan Niven tried breaking Australian band The Angels in the US (under the name of Angel City), he was the one who later suggested Great White record a cover of The Angels' 'Face The Day' which was their breakthrough hit. He mismanaged The Angels & literally cut them off & left them hanging during an American tour. From all accounts, Alan Niven was quite a mercurial, stubborn & forceful manager who stole the management for his most successful acts (Motley Crue from Alan Kauffman & Guns N' Roses from Vicky Hamilton). Sure he helped take them to the next level of exposure & success but he never actually discovered them & does not deserve such credit. Niven went off the rails with his excessive lifestyle & demands.
Great interview, you know how to give space. That first album was so full of energy and attitude. I was lucky enough to see them on the first tour opening for Blind Tiger, I mean Def Leppard, in the round in the Dean Dome in NC and they hit the stage on fire like they’d just escaped from prison! I looked around and the entire crowd was singing the chorus’ because they were hooks with attitude. Always my top workout album when I need motivation. Happy New Year 2025 to you and yours from east Hawaii 🤙🏼🤙🏼🌋🌴🌊🏄🏼🏝️
That album Jason did with Dave was killer!
People never want to fess up to being a hair band, 1:21. All of these bands try to knock the hair band moniker in hind sight. Hair was cool in the 80s and all of the chicks were in to it! The alternative bands persuaded people to hate those bands in the 92 forward era. I hated alternative, still do. I always played my hair band and thrash music as loud as my speakers would go!!
This is like Mitch Malloy. Hanging on to some story for dear life to get desperately needed publicity. Like Sammy Hagar too 😂
And Dave jirating like a dementia grandpa on his UA-cam channel butchering old Halen material isnt seeking attention? Hes beyond washed up, hes a goofball, far cry from what he was half a century and hairline ago. Hagars got 150+mill selling out shows nightly on a world tour with Mikey……he couldnt give a fuck less about Roth lol
Always thought Jeff was underrated and underappreciated
I always felt he should of being a bigger star than he was. Great talent. I think it says alot about Jeff when he mentioned how he was glad that by turning down DLR,it allowed Jason Becker to get the gig and get a real chance to shine. 🤟
Dave’s voice at some point jumped the shark. Of course is an icon but holy shit what a drop off.
Everyone HAS to get older.... Unfortunately 😔......
Impellitteri sounds completely different from Yngwie. In a blind study I can always hear the difference and tell who is who playing.
Id take the motorcycles😂
How does one contemplate, even just a lil, joining Motley?? I think you jump on it right away but doing that possibly doesn't get you paid enough either..🤷♂️
Turning down Dave wasn’t a mistake. Money isn’t everything . Dave kinda sucks .
Compared to what? Also his first three solo albums were as good as Van Halen’s
Compared to who? You?Not even close dude, greatest frontman of all time, try again.
Lol. And who is Jeff Young? Never heard of him.
Dave definitely, USED to be....NO doubt....But, I can't imagine gettin the gig with DLR (latter 80s-90s) without....? Quite simply? A WHOLE LOTTA unwanted DRAMA and BS..... Then again? It COULD'VE possibly BEEN?....The GREATEST thing Jeff or someone else could of done, did.. heck, IDK...Lol 🤘🔥🤘
Integrity… I think Jeff Young has kept things real and has made better choices. Doesn’t and didn’t get the greatest of gigs after being lied about in the press by Mustaine, but at least he can be true to himself. Great and very underrated musician that seems to have a good heart.
David Lee Roth is a hack !
Wow, Jake Gyllenhaal played with David Lee Roth?
Wow ..
That Corabi probably would have worked out.
Your formula for making videos is perfect. I'm watching and learning. If you're able to pull off making any money from all the effort that goes into YT...I'm gonna replicate it ;)
People focus only on speed and scale types. What Yngwie did that NOBODY could imitate was his sense of time. That is, in his phrasing. He always held the beat and bar lines in his head but would burst in and out of free time, with his phrases (or lines) drifting into the next bar. If you want the complete opposite, think of John Petrucci, where almost every note fits perfectly into an equally divided part of the bar. Yngwie also would change speed mid-phrase, listen to the end of the Ships are Burned solo for this. Each part of the solo is in sections that don't always line up with the bars. His magic is actually his ability to hold the beat but be independent of it, like a jazz drummer, during solos.
I know a singer that played on 1 of impellitteri albums and he had a cousin named Rick Harlson that played so great. He was so fast and couls easily play Yngwie then turn around play Chet Atkins, Bach, you name it. Would teach hours and hours of Theory. He should have millions just on talent alone. The whole family it seemed were just great musicians
Krokus is the band that reminds me of the 80's more than any band and i attribute that mainly to Marc's voice. I have several of their albums and when i feel nostalgic, I spin that vinyl!
