I completely agree with the point of this video, but I do have to say that 5.56 is NOT a great caliber for a "scout" or "do it all" rifle. It might technically be able to put down big game at 500yrds and in, but getting it there accurately with a short barrel is definitely harder to do than other rounds. And a lot of states have laws against auto loading rifles that make them very hard or impossible to make/carry/hunt with. It's hard to say what each individual will need. I like to keep different rifles for different tasks, but having one rifle that is small, accurate, quick, and 50state legal is something I think everyone should weigh the pros and cons of.

For a while, I thought about making a Mk18, but the reasons you stated made me second guess it. I've since gone towards the route of a 10.5" 300 BLK SBR. I haven't SBR-ed it yet, but it'll look bomb AF when I do, and the cartridge is much more suited to that short a barrel. And I'll suppress it for the gloriousness.

Really digging the set up your inspiring me heavily. Silly question, did you mount the lpvo on rings or a mount? I basically have enough spare parts minus the rifle to plug and play, just wasn't sure if a 1.54" Badger Condition One mount would make the height over bore too much on a bolt gun. Lmk and thanks!

What kind of accuracy were you referring to? Also at the time of its conception there weren’t a lot of units doing more ch beyond hammered pairs. Bill drills and 2-2-4-2-2 drills with some mil spec triggers sucks depending on the gun
