Stennis Flight Deck 1999
This is raw footage taken from CVW-9 workups abord the USS John C. Stennis in summer 1999. This footage was taken when I lent my camera to my buddy, so I am actually the RIO being filmed here. Note the suspended launch of my Tomcat followed by a successful launch and subsequent recovery. Nice filming Shooter!!

VF 211 Homecoming 2002
Переглядів 1,7 тис.Рік тому
This is the emotional homecoming fly-in from 2002, when my squadron, VF-211, returned from a 7-month deployment at the beginning of Operating Enduring Freedom. We cruised aboard the USS John C. Stennis shortly after 9/11, flying combat missions mostly in support of the first wave of US troops to enter Afghanistan. Also pictured at the beginning is rare footage of Mavis, the squadron vehicle, co...

Flight With a Tomcat Pilot at Prevailance Aerospace
Переглядів 9362 роки тому
My good friend and fellow VF-211 RIO, Squeaky, owns and operates Prevailance Aerospace in Chesapeake, Virginia. She hooked my up with the ride of my life: a flight in one of their Extra 330s! And as if that weren't enough, my pilot for the flight was Crunchy, one of my former F-14 instructor pilots in the RAG we had flown together a few times before. This footage proves his courage, as he gives...
F-14 RAG Ground Operations in El Centro
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
This is footage from a RAG det to El Centro (for air-to-ground training) during my time as a student in the F-14 RAG. This footage was filmed in early 1999. It's noteworthy for the variety of aircraft of the flight line: every kind of F-14, some F-18s, and even a two-seat Harrier.
A walk through the John C. Stennis to Ready Room 8
Переглядів 1,6 тис.2 роки тому
This is a short video showing the walk from my stateroom aboard the John C. Stennis to the VF-211 ready room. Our ready room was Ready Room 8, the furthest aft of all ready rooms. We were directly beneath the flight deck under the wires, and so the sound of tailhooks slapping the flight deck was quite loud in the ready room. This video gives a sense of the size of the ship and also of the daily...
F-14 Flight from NAS Oceana to NAS Pax River, 2001
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
This is footage of a flight from Oceana to Pax River (home of the Naval Test Pilot School) in 2001. We took two F-14As from our squadron, VF-211, to Pax River to allow the Test Pilot students to fly them, while we were given fun free-for-all hops in T-2s. The T-2 flight was probably the most fun I ever had in a jet.
Navy Flight Training Centrifuge

Before I was a clueless RIO nugget in VF-211, I was an even more clueless RAG student in VF-101 (the RAG is the training squadron for budding F-14 crew). One right of passage is to be spun in a giant centrifuge in order to learn how to tolerate G forces. The real goal is to not be put to sleep by the Gs as all your buddies watch you on closed circuit tv. I didn’t go to sleep, but I did drool on...
Flying T2s in Navy Flight School
Переглядів 11 тис.3 роки тому
Before naval aviators earn their wings, they must complete a two-year flight school, flying a series of training aircraft. For Naval Flight Officers (NFOs such as RIOs, WSOs, and ECMOs), the last aircraft they fly was the T-2 Buckeye. Here is one of my final flights in the Buckeye before graduating in 1998 a four-ship strike practice. We took off from NAS Pensacola, took some practice bombing r...

Today is the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the F-14 Tomcat. So here's a video that I made in 2001 honoring "Mutha", the trophy given annually to the fighter squadron that best exemplified the fighting spirit. The audio is removed for copyright reasons.
F 14 TARPS Combat Mission 2002

This video shows a real-world TARPS mission over Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in early 2002. The mission is a reconnaissance flight over Taliban positions. Two F-14s from VF-211 aboard the John C. Stennis are tasked with taking pictures of enemy positions using TARPS pods, which are large pods containing various cameras mounted under the F-14's belly. After launch, the F-14...
F-14s at '01 Syracuse Air Show
Переглядів 3,6 тис.4 роки тому
In this video, VF-211 took four F-14s to the Syracuse air show in Spring 2001. Overall not my best videography; however, the shot at 1:00 is among my favorites. We overflew the field in a four-ship diamond, then landed and set up the jets as static displays. We chatted with the airshow guests (that's me at 3:04) and sold a bit of merch. We checked out Syracuse with a few of the Blue Angels that...

this is very special man!!!, now i just wanna jump to my F14 in DCS and go. now i understand how much important rudder is in the refuel of the tom cat, i keep using stick, and i can do it, but is way easier with the proper use of rudder, tx man this is literally priceless, tx for the upload, i dont know if you are the real Rio, anyways tx for your service? i keep thinking, and i already spoke with Mr Ward Carroll about it, was a "crime" stopping THE f14D PROGRAM, BY now we would have all the electronic, avionic upgrades, the displays the fly by wire, probably even model E, The F14 would be the best plane on the fleet, we have the FA-18 witch i dont like that much despite being a great aircraft for all operations but still is a mini-me in comparison to the F14, big strong cat, amazing fuel efficiency and by now would be twice as better in all categories. The Senior officers together with the Pentagon who made that decision should be ashamed of such decision, they´re still confused with the F22 and F35 programs while china is full gas with their programs, even carriers, if we dont move they will catch up, US flexing isnt working the way used to
