Lumi Keys Review - Genius Or Gimmick?
Y'all, I made the most comprehensive review I could possibly do for the Lumi Keys system.
Lumi Keys did give me two keyboards and a subscription for free to do this review but don't worry, I don't pull any punches (or compliments).
I even included a bonus walkthrough of the lesson content at the end of this video so you can know what you're actually buying before you buy it.
You can see my text version of this review here on my website:
soundadventurer.com/lumi-keys-review/
You can find more information about Lumi Keys here: playlumi.com/lumi-keys
**Update! I made a mistake!
Thanks to commenter: @RealGrover
"You do get per-note pitchbend (and per-note pressure) with any MPE capable MIDI instrument on your computer or mobile device, stand-alone or within an MPE capable DAW"
So you can get per note pitchbend if your DAW supports it: www.midi.org/midi-articles/midi-polyphonic-expression-mpe (unfortunately for me, FL studio does not)"
Additionally, I tried to edit my video to be more clear and clear up the mistake. Hope that helps!

Song Of Storms Cover ... Except with 12 Instruments #MonthlyGoalsProject
Переглядів 2,1 тис.3 роки тому
Can you name all 12 instruments in the comments? I admit, this was a really hard video I only practiced many of these instruments for a month, and so it was definitely... well, hard, not to be any types of good at any of these instruments. It's okay, though, I had so much fun learning these instruments and I was so curious how it would sound to put them all together. I hope you enjoy the video....
Last Day Of #MonthlyGoalsProject--I Learned The Bones For 30 days!
Переглядів 7793 роки тому
This is it! I filmed this on Dec 31, 2020. I practiced a different instrument each month for an hour each day for the ENTIRE year of 2020. I actually started this in Nov 2019, so that's 14 months of practicing a different instrument each month! I documented this whole journey on #MonthlyGoalsProject So fun! Learned so much. I've worked hard to try and share what I've learned with you and I hope...
"Christmastime": An Original Song With Vocals, Ukulele, Piano, Tin Whistle, Jaw Harp and the Bones
Переглядів 4163 роки тому
This is an original Christmas song written by my niece when she was just 9 years old! Somehow this little song has made it into our regular set of Christmas songs and I think it's such as sweet little tune. I decided to make an arrangement for fun and hopefully spread a little Christmas cheer. I've been practicing a different instrument a month for the year of 2020 #MonthlyGoalsProject and alth...
31 Jaw Harp Exercises for Practicing

I packed as many technique practices that I could think of for the jaw harp in this single video. Naturally it never seems to scratch the surface of what is possible with the jaw harp but you should find some challenging practices in the video. I hoped to make a resource that could be helpful for you and that you could come back to time and again. If you like the video, make sure to "like it" a...

How To Play The Kalimba With Short Fingernails (Yes It's Possible)
Переглядів 29 тис.3 роки тому
I was a little concerned that I'd have to grow out my thumbnails just to play the kalimba. I was delighted to learn that it's only optional. Playing with your thumbnails is a different sound as is playing with the pads of your thumbs. You may find yourself perfectly happy with playing with the pads of your thumbs instead of thumbnails so you don't have to necessarily grow them out. If you'd lik...

I think it definitely depends on what kind of harps you have. Another good thing to check is your grip, make sure you're not collapsing the frame.

I play both, for pleasure. The recorder has a lot of alternate fingerings wich make more easy certain notes suites, in various tonalities. But the fingering of the tin whistle is the same in lower and higher octaves wich is really helpful for speed, i.e. in irish trad music. Another important point : a ”D” whistle offers the notes d, e, f sharp, g, a, b, c natural, c sharp. Many irish music tune use modes that fit with these notes, not only D major and G major (ionian). A lot are in E natural minor, B natural minor (aeolian), A dorian minor, E dorian minor... not talking of myxolydian and ”defective” modes with only 6 or 5 different notes in the scale (hexatonic and pentatonic scales). It opens a huge repertoire with a one D whistle !

Tried "Simply Piano" - I even bought a $100CAD dongle for my Casio to use Simply Piano - for a month to test it (free). It was fine. But then I got "Piano for All" and I think this is a game changer. I've only used it for a couple of days but I really really really like the videos, and found that not being interactive with the lessons (ie. if I hit a key, the key is also hit in the lesson) is not a big deal at all. In fact, it's nicer that I don't have the pressure of being perfect all the time with hitting the correct keys. Anyway, the interface of Piano for All is intuitive, easy to use, and fun.

This is Not a good recorder, but a good tin whistle. Your recorder tone is very beginnerlike, your tin whistle tone is much better . The comparison is not fair. The difference is not in the Instruments, it is in the quality and your technique.

      @wirrbel 24 дні тому

It sounded to me as if the tongue was not used for playing the recorder, which definitely needs to be used. That would also have been a pretty important point to cover in the video, technical difference in playing.

I was an original backer of the Lumi Keys and I enjoyed it for the year after it arrived. It lingered in a drawer until I got it out just today, now that I finally have some time to pick it up again. I was truly disgusted to learn I can't use the app without a ridiculously priced subscription. I don't care about learning famous songs they have to pay licensing for - I just want the lessons part. The fact that I can no longer use a device I fully paid for, well this should be illegal frankly.

Yeah, I really feel like they are shooting themselves in the foot. They could easily capture tons of people's money by allowing purchasing songs a la carte... They could expand this buy allowing for purchasing song packs... imagine a classical music pack for $40 or Taylor Swift pack for $2560.29 or something like that. Anyway, nobody listens to my brilliant ideas. 😂
