I've heard some drummers do a double or triple stroke on the floor tom,then 1 bass drum stroke after a joke.It was effective.
On the old Johnny Carson Show, when a guest would get tangled up in the curtains trying to leave the stage, the drummer added a couple of taps on a cowbell. Was a really good rimshot.

Hate to be that guy. But å rimshot is a Snap on the rim of the snare drum. It's in the name. The badumtssh is called a sting.
