I just recently found your channel and it's so awesome seeing your journey, especially when your videos have such a good balance between the technical side of your PhD work and your day-to-day activities. I work in a genomics institution where we do a lot of single cell/nuclei RNA sequencing using 10X Genomics and Oxford Nanopore, but I haven't had any experience with bioinformatics or spatial transcriptomics, so seeing you make the UMAP and work on your Xenium project is really cool!

I study medicine in Belgium, but I’m interested in working in biotech as well. Do you know if an MD can work in an industrial lab, like those focusing on biotech or CRISPR-Cas9 research? I know there are different types of labs, like diagnostic, clinical, research, industrial, and forensic labs. Where do biotech and genetic editing like CRISPR-Cas9 fit exactly, and what kind of roles can someone with my background have there? I’ve heard some labs require a certain type of certificate which MD’s don’t get automatically, hence the first question.

16 years in the Malaysian civil service has taught me that: 1. EQ is indeed more prized than IQ, but a combo of both can take u places. 2. your colleagues are not ur besties (this is very true) 3. set boundaries, including for bosses (especially if they demand that u work on wknds or after 5)
