I like John Denver. Talented and sincere. I don’t own any of his music and I’ve never heard any of these songs. I only know his 3-4 biggest hits.

Sutter, you may not know that when John Denver released his first Greatest Hits album in 1973 he actually re-recorded most of the songs for it, rather than using the original versions. So they sound different to the original album tracks/singles. These are the re-recorded titles: "Follow Me" (John Denver) "Starwood In Aspen" (John Denver) "Rhymes And Reasons" (John Denver) "Leaving On A Jet Plane" (John Denver) "The Eagle And The Hawk" (John Denver, Mike Taylor) "Poems, Prayers And Promises" (John Denver) "Sunshine On My Shoulders" version included here is the single version, featuring overdubbed strings.

How cool you picked this album for the video. I have the album a few months now and like the music. The first track "The Love Of The Common People" was a big hit in 1983 for Paul Young in The Netherlands. So I was really surprised to hear John Denver's much older version. I like both versions. Thanks for showing again an item from the background. Very interesting.

I don't know why back in the seventies I never bought any of his albums because I really liked his songs. One of my favorite songs by John is Calypso. Anyway great video guys. How in the world does Sutter know these guys from a 1000 years ago😅

Oh, and it appears "sugacity" is something John Denver came up with. I can't find any reference to it other than his song.

John Denver had a good sense of humor, as with his ballads for Spiro and Nixon. How many kids these days that are Sutter's age even know who Spiro Agnew was? Heck, most adults shamefully aren't aware. Sutter is a bright and informed lad. Sutter has the country accent down pretty well. LOL! Nice Christmas Beatles t-shirt, almost in time for Xmas in July.

1/ Boys - Good choice. So many songs to choose from, but the raw energy of this one outshines even Twist and Shout. 2/ Money or Please, Mr. Postman - My least favourite Beatles album 3/ You Can't Do That or, maybe, And I love Her 4/ All of side one are some of my favourite Beatles tracks, but I'll choose a side two number, Words Of Love because I am also a massive Buddy Holly fan. 5/ Act Naturally IS a contender, but I'm going to go for I've Just See A Face because I really like playing it on guitar. 6/ Girl is a great shout. Yes, I totally agree. 7/ She Said She Said is a good choice. I can't think of a better one for Revolver, only a worse one and that's Yellow Submarine. It spoils a otherwise perfect album. 8/ Lovely Rita is a good choice but my favourite is the one everybody hates - Within You Without You. 9/ Strawberry Fields Forever for me. 10/ Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey. YES!!! At last, somebody else that really likes this song! 11/ Hey Bulldog or, possibly, Only A Northern Song. Fun Fact. I have met all of the voice actors that played The Beatles in the movie and one of the uncredited screenwriters, the poet Roger McGough. 12/ Because - I can't disagree as there isn't a bad song on this album, though I might have put She Came In Through The Bathroom Window a tiny fraction of a smidgen higher. 13/ This is a tough one - another album with no weak songs. I will have to go for Two Of Us 14/ Old Brown Shoe is a great song, but I don't have these albums so I can't choose my favourite. 15/ Hey Jude is another great song, but I don't have this album either, so I can't choose. I can't believe how much time I spent doing this - I have to be up early for work in the morning!

Young man, The Butcher Cover and Bob Dylan's 1963 Lp "THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN" with the four alternate tracks are at the top of the pecking order of collectable vinyl LP's. The Dylan one only a few got out as it was recalled and 4 new tracks replaced the alternate tracks. An original alternate track one sold for $35,000 a couple of years ago. They're like finding hen's teeth, they're just not out. I've been searching for one since 1975. If I couldn't find one back then it's not gonna happen but I can dream can't I? All early Dylan records from 1962 though around 1976 are very sought after now. After 76 they're easier to find. You're very young, nice too see a young one taking an interest in classic popular music. I started collecting Beatles records way back in my freshman year in HS in 1971. I've amassed an amazing collection over the last 53 years. I have a 1st state Stereo Butcher that I got in a collectable record shop in 1988 and paid $2,000 for it, that was a lot if scratch back then. Mine is still in its original wrap, back then there was shrink wrap, LP's came in a clear loose like bag. Mine is pristine. My friends thought it was cool but a lot of money and my father thought I was nuts. My copy would fetch around $20,000 now, look who's laughing now. Also have a 1st state Mono copy NM. Have both Stereo and Mono 2nd state Trunk cover's NM. Found the mono one at a flea market about 5 years ago for 40.00 which proves if you know what you're looking for there are still a few out there to be found. I found my Stereo copy in 1999 and had it professionally peeled in 2000 for 500.00 and it is a perfect peel. Now I need to find another Stereo unpeeled one, probably ain't gonna happen but you never. Have your dad introduce you to Dylan, he's amazing. The greatest American poet and songwriter of the 20th century. 2008 awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his "Profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary power" These are not my words but those of the Pulitzer committee. 2011 President Obama placed the American Medal Of Freedom around his neck for his contributions to American poetry and songs. 2016 excepted Nobel Prize after turning it down for many years because he didn't feel he was worthy of it for his contributions to literature, poetry and music. You name the award or honor, Dylan has it. Also if you haven't heard any Simon And Garfunkel well then dad, get on the Ball. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, iconic stuff. Hope you enjoyed the ramblings from an old dude and that you learned a little something. Keep on listening to the classics and go find those Butcher's. Final note on my Stereo Butcher from 1988, I meant to say that there was no shrink wrap then, your album's came in a clear loose plastic bag. Peace ❤

I just checked Discogs and there are currently no copies of either the LP or the CD for sale. I have also liked John Denver since I was a kid and still have a sheet music book of his most well known songs, which I learned to play on piano. I have a good mix of his albums on both vinyl and CD now, most of which can be found used very cheap. Very poetic lyrics.

Okay, YOU might be biased, but I am not a John Denver fan and even I think that his cover of Yesterday is the best cover. I say I am not a John Denver fan, but when I was ten, my parents bought the LP (we called albums LPs back then) Back Home Again and I listened to it a lot. I always loved Grandma's Feather Bed and hated Annie's Song.

I remember watching John Denver on "The Muppet Show" way back in the 1970s, and on his own TV specials, one featuring Robbie Rist, "Cousin Oliver" from "The Brady Bunch," who appeared in a skit as a young John Denver. I also watched "Oh God!", the movie Denver made with the legendary comedian George Burns. Maybe Sutter could do a review of that film? There's also an episode of the classic TV show "Midnight Special" with Denver and "Mama" Cass Elliot singing "Leaving On A Jet Plane" that is awesome, and it's on UA-cam. I am more a casual Denver fan, but my brother was a particularly big fan of the music. I grew up in Denver's heyday, so it's cool to see someone Sutter's age into the music, just as he is into a number of classic musicians and bands. Cool crocheted Denver doll, too! The pictures of l'il Sutter dressed as John Denver were cute, as well.

That's a very cool photo you showed us, Sutter. Thank you. For years I only had one 'best of' CD with John Denver songs. But a few months ago I found two remastered original albums by John Denver at a thrift store: Rhymes & Reasons (1969) and Back Home Again (1974). They sound great and I really like them.

John Denver performed in concert at Wembley Arena, in 1979. His only Top 30 UK hit was "Annie's Song," though. Still, he did have at least a modicum of popularity in the UK it appears.

Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston were also pretty good cover artists. It's about time they finally produced a fifth gold record volume. The fourth one was kind of spotty but this one features some of the greatest tracks in Elvis's career. The producers weren't the best though. They missed some songs. They need to take out the songs on the second side that weren't gold and replace them with If I Can Dream, Don't Cry Daddy, The Wonder of You, and Promised Land which were. Perfect.

@@KnowYourMusicShow It didn't occur to me until I was listening to Badge, by Cream, that George Harrison and Eric Clapton spent time together; George wrote my most favorite song since I was 3 years old, "Here Comes the Sun," at Eric's place in England. That song inspired me to be a drummer! Back to The Beatles, let's talk more about me!!! LOL! Clapton, was involved with the Beatles, perhaps a little more than has been documented. I'll leave that to you. To your dad: How did you produce such a precocious young man? What was your reaction? Did you wonder about it? Were your interests in music and are you yourself a musician and if not, how did your son become the audiophile he is?

This kid knows about Klaus Voormann? What, is this boy born 2000 years old? I mean, Voormann isn't that obscure, but the boy mentioned Harry Nilsson, Voorman did the sexy horn arrangements on "Ambush" on the Nilsson Shmilson album, bass too, Carly Simon, et, al. I'm impressed at how erudite he is at this age. He'll be a musicologist in . . . one year?
