T analysis of high-line tensioning system
Переглядів 3 тис.4 роки тому
In this short outtake from a recent Wilderness Vertical Rescue course we look at applying T analysis to a high-line tensioning system. The high-line has twin track-lines, the tensioning system is the classic self equalising parallel 6:1 'flagged' up a tension back-tied tree trunk.
Knot pass during a raising operation.

Apologies for the variable audio in this video. We look at a simple & effective technique for passing a knot or joining bend through an in-line mechanical advantage system during a raise. The progress capture devices we use are a prusik minding pulley setup and the CMC Clutch.

AZ Vortex 1 - Lashing the feet
Переглядів 7 тис.4 роки тому
In this video we look at a quick but incredibly useful technique, using basic lashing & frapping, for locking a Vortex foot into position. It also can be used to 'elevate' the back leg of an easel A frame to increase the working space within the footprint. Knots, Hitches & Bends Part 1
Переглядів 4,2 тис.4 роки тому
This video looks at the clove hitch, Munter hitch and snap bowline with the Yosemite retrace finish. It's not so much about how to tie them per se, but more about a standardised technique for showing others how to do it. Hopefully this neat technique is of use to trainers or instructors across rope access, rescue or any other roping discipline.
TAZ LOV2 descent / backup device

Fast X anchor system
Переглядів 2,5 тис.4 роки тому
Straight up apologies for the background noise & other distractions... we fought with it all day! In this video we look at a variation on the venerable 'wrap / pull' anchor setup that's applicable for duress situations (tactical, search & rescue and so forth). It's a tiny difference but it suddenly makes the 'wrap / pull' so much easier. Equipment used in this video: Mystery Ranch Three Day BVS...
Rethreaded alpine butterfly knot
Переглядів 49 тис.4 роки тому
In this video we show you how to tie an alpine butterfly knot directly around or into an object using a 'rethreaded' technique. This is super useful for rope access and rescue applications as well as tactical roping.
Pay no mind to me. I'm just bookmarking these parts 4:06 6:08 7:50
Great video. I've been using this to repair some shingles on the roof of my sister's garage. I haven't had the harnes 'tested' in a fall yet and hope I don't. But I'm 69 years old and this gives me at least the illusion of safety and that's good enough for me. And I do think it would actually work.
@howNOT2 can you break this? I am guessing 8Kn
OMG at 9:26 is that an old Chouinard Piton????
Explained beautifully, thank you.
I absolutely love it! Thanks Mate! I’m going to utilize for an emergency escape rappel. 👍👍🇺🇸
I was up in a pecan tree today and needed a new canopy anchor. Thought I should do my choke around the tree without abusing a carabiner and so I had to tie a standard alpine butterfly first then recreate the running version. Took me a while as I don't climb trees very often. Your method is more fool-proof than what I did today.
Thank you. This Is fantastic
Definitely Appling this to my gf gotta put a eye bolt in the ceiling
I have been tying a Bull Hitch and did not know how to tie the alpine thru a hole.......now I have to tie this every morning and night before bed for a few weeks and it is natural ........thanks.
So this is great. I see the primary usefulness of this as you can utilize your flat webbing for this or as anchhor material, slings etc. mix and match for the situation. For personal harness use only could you see introducing buckles into the shoulder straps and in the waist for speed and ease of donning? This is not for use as any other but for ascending and addition to life safety connection.
Shouldn’t you be wearing something like safety glasses?
OK.
Exvelkent method of teaching this. Thank you
Tried, not good at all - problems: 1 slow, need to tune loops multiple times before it fit well 2 not holding well, leg loops fall down with any movement if harness is not under the load 3 complex carabiner attechment - easy to make mistake, especially if used rarely 4 impossible to use without the top harness part.
You’re such a dope
How long for each webbing
bit harsh comments below this was good content..
Is there a reason you would use the alpine butterfly knot here? Rather than some other configuration?
How I remember pistons nothing sang so nice than a well placed pin
Excellent tutorial. Clearly shown and very well explained. Thanks
Great video.
Wow ❤ im looking for something like this so long. 👍👍👍 thank you for the Video. greatings from Berlin
Oh wow !! I have to do some high gable painting and this is going to give me a lot of peace of mind. Hopefully I dont need to test it out, but it looks quite secure. You have probably saved lives with this video. Well done !! Thank you.
This is how instructions should be! I always get confused depending on my perspective on the knot, what side or direction loops and knots are started, etc. Your steps are clear enough so i can tie from any direction or side. Thank you!
Thanks...best demo on this I've seen
This is exactly what we used in the early 90's rapelling out of choppers in the army. Once on the ground it was easy to stash in your webbing, lightweight and worked well.
Great video. For the bottom harness, I found that a length that could go around my waist 3 times was almost perfect. It seems like using your waist might be a more relevant guideline than your height.
Outstanding video! 🏔️👍
I've done several mountaineering courses and this is the first I've seen of this. Good stuff.
🍀🍀Quite a few years ago... He made the nails for his own use, but it's also good to learn how to place them
Nice!
Ini baru kerenn... Alat yang sangat berguna.
Bomber.
outstanding!
Excellent demostration. Subscribed.
That's pretty awesome
What considered the fastest and the easiest harness that I can makeshift in case of emergency if I have regular rope and no other tools?
thanks
Elegant!
Informative video, Thanks
sir, how much length do you need for the short and long one?? Thank you... Salam dari Indonesia
Hi there. There is an explanatory in the video's audio about getting the right length but just to help out... the webbing for the lower section, when tied as a loop, should roughly come to your nose if you stand with your foot in the bottom of the loop and pull it upwards. The webbing for the upper section, when tied as a loop, should roughly come to your sternum again if you put your foot in the loop and pull upwards. Hope this helps...
@@safetyaccessrescue7136 thank you sir, very helpful explanation
Thank you!
Good luck getting that undone after under tension.
Thanks Amazing
Thank Amazing 😊
off topic. would you be so kind as to tell me the brand of sunhat your wearing ? Im looking for a similar hat system to go with my helmet when guiding rock climbing. thanks
CMC Sunbrero
Yes as Todd V responded its a CMC Sunbrero... if in Australia (www.safetyaccessrescue.com.au/shop/equipment/ppe/cmc-sunbrero/) and if in the USA (www.cmcpro.com/equipment/sunbrero-improved/)... cheers.
Number 1 rule : Make sure your furniture is all in the same room.
So I retract my comment below. I made of these. Followed all the directions to a tee - carbiner was really secure, didn't shift, and the webbing was snug. However, when I moved around up on my roof, the leg portions kept slipping down, especially when bending forward, no matter how many times I cinched it up. It ended up being a hazard. I suggest this is only for emergencies and/or when the person is not moving much, but hanging in one position.
Hi Rock. Thanks for the feedback & I think you answered your own question (in a way) in the last line. I'm pretty sure in my audio in the video I make it clear this is an expedient, emergency setup or for very specific applications (i.e. heli-rappel, which is what I used to use it for... we were only suspended for seconds under the aircraft since getting on the ground was the priority). Its not a work harness or industrial fall protection harness. I'm glad people are liking & using it out there, but don't be under any illusions that its a replacement for a proprietary fall protection harness. Cheers.
now i feel like i can go on my roof more confidently. thanks for a great explanation!
Thank you for this video. I will be re shingling my roof shortly.
Muy clara la explicación, eficiente y practico. Gracias!👍
