Welcome to Idaho Ski Lifts, on this channel, I focus to provide videos of chairlift rides as well as other aspects of lifts. From starting to make videos at my home mountain Bogus Basin, I've now filmed lifts at 3 other Idaho resorts and I plan on getting to other states. So why not come along for a ride.

Enjoy 37 minutes of the incredible work it takes to install lift towers. This video shows the entire process of installing all 7 towers and tower heads that will help support the haul rope on the new Coach Quad.
The Coach Quad is going to be a Skytrac Quad. It has a bottom Monarch Drive terminal and a simple return terminal up top. The Coach Quad features 7 Skytrac manufactured towers and tower heads.
I'm very happy I was able to be up there on the day they flew the towers. It's truly an incredible process to watch, which is why I thought it would be awesome to share it with you guys. As said, this video is a 37-minute video that shows the whole experience.

Tamarack/ Summit Express

Summit Express serves some high alpine Blue and Black trails. Installed in 2004 by Leitner Poma, this high speed quad uses standard Leitner Poma chairs, Leitner Poma towers and LP sheaves, and LP crossarms. The lift is a top-drive and the speed it was going in this recording seemed very slow, maybe 700 FPM. Enjoy the video guys!
Tamarack/ Tamarack Express

This Leitner-Poma high speed quad was installed in 2004, It's the main out-of base lift out of Tamarack village. Tamarack Express has 125 chairs, the chairs are pretty standard 2004 LP detachable quad chairs. The Drive is at the top. The terminals are pretty standard LP 2004 terminals. Enjoy the video guys.
Coach/Bitterroot (Construction Update)

Here's an update on Bogus Basin's 2 new Skytrac quads. All 7 towers on Coach have been flown in, as well as all 13 towers on Bitterroot have been flown in. The bottom and top terminals for Coach have been fully completed and enclosed. The top of Bitterroot is nearly completed. The shacks have been installed at both the top and bottom of Coach. Recorded on September 21st, 2024.
Bogus Basin/ Deer Point (Summer Download)

Deer Point is a 1996 Doppelmayr Spacejet high-speed quad. In the winter, it serves some advanced and intermediate trails on the frontside of Bogus Basin. In the summer, it serves a series of cross-country mountain bike trails. The bike carriers are actually just regular Doppelmayr EJ chairs, with the seats taken off and a bike rack in its place. Western Idaho Fair/ Sky Ride

The Sky Ride lift was added to the Western Idaho Fair in 2018, I have no idea who the manufacturer of this lift is, but my guess is Hall or Borvig. The Skyride is a transfer lift that takes you from the front entrance of the fair, all the way to the rides. Timberline/ Magic Mile Express

Installed in 1992, this Poma high-speed quad serves the main front face of Timberline ski resort, as well as provides access to the Palmer chairlift. Magic Mile is a Poma high-speed quad. It has 76 Competition style Poma chairs, Poma towers. Both the top and bottom terminals are inclosed in a wooden building. Recorded on June 11th, 2024.
Coach/Bitterroot (Construction update)

Here's a construction update on Bogus's new Coach and Bitterroot lifts. Coach has already been demolished, and work is being done to remove the last few bits of the bottom terminal, as well as the top lift shack. Bitterroot has also been nearly demolished, the top Vault drive terminal is the only piece of the lift still remaining. Recorded on May 23rd, 2024.

It was actually built by Hall, and it's apparently considered a frankenlift!
@BowserHasFun It also started it's life at some amusement park in Florida. Then in 2018, it got reinstalled here!

Wild story: a property owner sued Sun Valley because of excessive noise and light from this lift, AND the lower station is sitting yards away from her property and wants the terminal moved away from it. Funny thing is all the loud noise is all the way up top, more than a mile away. Also, she bought the house years ago knowing about the chairlift operation nearby and inevitable development in the coming years, so this lady came to the nuisance herself. There are so many other chairlifts at other resorts starting right next to houses, and this lift is no exception.
@TwinSkiingLiftsRides That's ridiculous, I can maybe understand the light, as those uni-g terminals are quite bright when lit up. However the noise complaint makes no sense, since it's the return, not the drive. The grips aren't even noisy as well. Silver Strike Express at Deer Valley is a good example.
@@idahoskilifts4242 It’s one thing to dim the terminal lights at night and turn the music down that’s playing at the bottom, but moving the terminal would be costly and more time consuming. On my Steamboat trip, I stayed at the Edgemont - right next to the Christie Peak Express and its slopes - and absolutely LOVED it. It was really convenient being able to pop my skis on right out back. That particular house serves the same purpose.
@TwinSkiingLiftsRides I highly doubt they'll move the terminal. Also I would love that convenience lol.
The bike setup on Massanutten’s Peak Express is very different: every other chair has bike racks on the back of the chair so that only the front wheel is actually on the rack. The racks hold up to two bikes. I like these bike trays because you can just load the whole bike onto the carrier instead of just the front wheel.
I agree, I like these bike trays more because they really give the lift a difference between winter and summer.

@lol0001 Usually they have their opening day in early November. The construction crews are focusing on Coach more than Bitterroot at the moment, as they want to have Coach ready for opening day.
Estimated speed is 885 fpm.

Does this lift have heated seats?
When I rode it, I didn't feel any heat on the seat, so I don't think so. I'm not 100% on that.

Why is it running so slow?
Most lifts that run in the summer and winter tend to run slower in the summer. The reason being, it's easier for foot traffic to load and unload on foot since they don't have skis or snowboards. The other reason is to make unloading/loading bikes off the bike carriers easier.

This lift is a Yan Double. The new Coach lift coming this summer will be a Skytrac.

@vicioushanzo5740 I'll admit, Skytrac terminals don't look as nice as Doppelmayr fixed-grip terminals, but the chairs on Skytrac lifts are a really cool design.

This new lift has a design speed of 1181fpm

It's actually only 8 minutes, the old lift took 10 minutes.
The biggest benefit Flying Squirrel brings is providing an alternate route out of Warm Springs base if Challenger should go down for any reason. Such an alternate route hasn't existed since the original Flying Squirrel burned down (if Challenger was down, you could use Greyhawk and Flying Squirrel).
If you pay attention at the end of the video, you can see the old Challenger and Greyhawk carriers now present on Christmas.

Bottom drive is where the motor/main power source of the lift is.
This lift was constructed to replace Cold Springs, a Riblet double chairlift with Yan drive terminal that started at the bottom of the Cold Springs Cutoff. Cold Springs was the main egress lift out of Seattle Ridge, although Mayday also serves that purpose. Until the construction of Challenger 6 and Flying Squirrel in 2023, Broadway was the sole high speed lift on the mountain other than the gondola to be a pure Doppelmayr lift since the other high speed quads were Yoppelmayrs (Yan high speed quads refurbished by Doppelmayr).
I have vivid memories riding the old Cold Springs double, rode it for years up to it's removal. Broadway and Flying Squirrel also feature the white lines on the EJ chairs, which is a nice touch. Flying Squirrel is the 1st lift on Bald Mountain that has 90 degree unloading. Stay tuned for my videos of Challenger 6 and Flying Squirrel in early March.
This is a very much dated video, as the teardrop chairs on this lift and Christmas were replaced in 2023 with secondhand EJ chairs from the Challenger and Greyhawk lifts. Now all of the high speed quads on the mountain have EJ chairs, though those on Flying Squirrel and Broadway have puck footrests (as the two to be original Doppelmayr lifts vs. retrofitted Yan lifts).

A beautiful lift! I love the wide tower spacing afforded by the wide chair spacing. Makes the lift line just a bit more scenic!

Why's that? I like it, it's a nice sound, and it's not too loud.
@@idahoskilifts4242I hate these new AC motors. They just have a terrible high pitched sound. Something like the old super bravo or slide Brook is a good high pitch, this is not
The only drive I find quite high pitched is Morning Star's, all the other UNI-G's I've been on have fairly quiet drives. But yeah, I get what you mean.

I will not miss the old lift, it took forever to get to the top.
I feel the same way, long, cold and boring ride. New lift was such a needed upgrade.
I won’t be skiing on New Year’s after all; ski conditions at Sugarloaf are trash. Brand new series will come later this week.
