Run Down and Review of my personal 1997 Morales BMX Frame
I had the Uni seats
Brings back some good memories from the early 2000's, wish i still had my 2000 war pig.
I have the 2017 60th Anniversary version... and totally love it... and the only thing I'd agree with u on, is the sound (i too have a Stock exhaust).. I think it's all down to personal choice... but it sounds like u need to move from it..(if not already)
zip ties on the cross keeps the concrete off my spokes
You just check the serial number
Bmx man lol. There isnt enough bmx riders on UA-cam that collect and build bikes. Im just getting into collecting. Just picked up a 2003 macneil john heaton sig and its loaded with goodies. 2004 WTP handlebars. 48 spline Dk chopstick cranks macneil top load stem with S&M RV forks FSA headset, macneil seat and seat post. Odyssey hazard lite with a vandero front hub and a hazard lite with lHD profile hub and a 28t a S&M tuffman sprocket its completely over build lmao picked it up for 300 bucks
I remember making little plastic shields cut out of plastic containers to zip tie to the rear triangle so you wouldn’t snag you foot on the rear caliper thus messing up your shoe. We’d put a sticker on it to make them look like it was a store bought product. Kids used to ask us where we got them. We’d say something like GT sent them to us to test before their release. We’d give em to good groms in the neighborhood. In metal shop, we made aluminum axel pegs on the lathe that were gnarled for grip. We ripped off the design from Beach Park Bicycle in Foster City. Scott(?) “the master of balance” Peterson (Skyway) used them and we rode with him from time to time.
you are right about the seat ... throw it away and just sit on the frame it is just as confortable
Great video, was interesting to hear your point. I managed to mitigate the shimmies on my XSR900 2017 by mounting a bit lower handlebar (Barracuda brand), removing any windscreen, mounting endbar low mirrors. Also did a SAG on my bike and then with SAG correct values I tested different values, the most effective until now has been: Max rear preload, SAG corrected front preload + 2 clicks (the thin lines on the chrome bar) to the harder side. Hope it helps!
Don’t forget about all the bike and skate videos everyone should of had own or watched nowhere fast I use to watch that religiously
It’s the Beeee!!!
Also we used dirt bike chains because the thick chains werent cutting the sprocket abuse we gave it. Sitingbon a o.g kink 45 gold sprocket
I had the volume regal beagle bars in the early 2000 on my dk general lee with a redneck stem, the haro mirra seat with either dk iron cross pedals or primo tenderizer. Also the primo headset upper and lower
More BMX! We have enough car UA-camrs and bmx would really benefit from any kind of extra content! Would love to see a new school rider try to do tricks on mid or old school bikes!
the bee its da bee..... aw shit it bite my eye da beeeee
After 1992 bmx sucked & so did the bikes , they got ugly & heavier & the shapes of the frames looked hideous , now there are bike company’s who brong back bikes of the past that have better geometry & are lighter & ride & look better than before .
That is very much a Mirra Pro and not a Blammo sorry to say but you are wrong.
@@11dy70dyteen take a sec and google 2001 Haro Blammo... it is 100% a Blammo
I have the Hoffman jumping bars
I wanted everything Craig Reynolds Had, he had his own company ( Reynolds Racing ) at the time to hard to get a frame and the company was ending. He went to Mongoose ( The good Mongoose years ) I bought his signature frame ( the Californian ) I actually met him at this time at a Race in Pennsylvania ( Cedar BMX Park ) then the next year they came out with a new frame for him ( The CRX ) I bought that one. Then he left and was doing his own thing for a while but was riding a Standard 125 so needless to say that was my next frame. Yes I am guilty of this
Believe it or not fit still to this day does the “mail in 5$ and we will send you a sticker pack” thing 😂
That Standard patch is so sick. Now I need to find one haha.
Id let my homie borrow some bars, mine would break or bend, they'd come back with the bars cut down so much the grips are around the corners...

I see nothing wrong with milling out the dropouts. Back then there was so much beef it wouldn't have heard it to take an 8th to 1/4 inch out. Nice find. My holy Grail which is nearly impossible to find is the King Liberty frame. They are quite rare because King went out of business.
@@there_is_nothing_here Agreed, The King Liberty was awesome! Ive been trying to track down a Solid Killing Machine since its so closely related but more obtainable.
DK S.O.B Honorable mention
@@there_is_nothing_here 💯
Keep on BMX man also really like the bronco
Insanely robust. The mid Skool was off the chain. I'm in my late 50s and currently building up a modern steed. Mankind Sunchaser frame with a 21 top tube, 13.75 stays, 71 seat tube, 74.5 head tube angle full Sanko Japanese steel fully heat treated in trans blue. Chrome Fiend Invest Forks, Chrome Odyssey Boss V2, Salt Plus jet fuel u break. Gonna get a Profile racing cranks at 170, 33 tooth sprocket, profile racing stem, Wheels and Co, Seating, Break lever etc I will get next year. Trying to get a modern whip look at bit classic and obviously fun to ride. Should be about 9kg not super light but better than 17 kg 4130 Monsters at my age.
That was a chill video mate, your banter is a good laugh. Thanks for the tip about getting the chain tension evened out by loosening the sprocket bolt and massaging the chain gently to center it better. Works like a charm. 💎👌❤️
Snafu parts when they came in a metal tin...that is all🔥
Yup!
I remember back in like 2005 cutting my bars down so much I could barely fit my hands on them lol.
Do guys still ride and build their own ramps? I sucked at most bike shit EXCEPT jumping, I could barely do a tail whip but I could hit that ramp and fly
I knew a kid who would tie a shoelace around his hubs
Garrett Reynolds had me wearing skinny jeans freshman year. Thanks a lot asshole
Dive Bars, the Holmes frame with the ruler, and Prince Albert cranks. 😂
💯
To this day, my old bmx friends and I still quote the beginning of road fools. "They was using they faces, they was using they bodies" #1 in my opinion was big everything. Bigger meant better/stronger. Triple wall wheels, hazard hubs 48 spoke of course, 14mm axels, 1/8 sprockets with moped chains, fat ass tires, giant couch seats, and, of course, the fatter the tubes on your frame, the stronger your bike was. We rode brackeless to save weight. 😅
Wait, I couldn’t pay attention to the video. Is that an actual Crayola painting behind you?
Small bars were cool, but just like the big bar trend now some guys take it too far. SnM made the 10" bars as a joke and were surprised they sold. Big bars are dumb, just like tiny bars are dumb. I tried the tennis ball, it fell out the first time I landed. I did run 1/2 twisted spokes. they were tough, I almost relaced my wheel last night to do that. Maybe I will tonight. Still use the 4130.... I think it was Redline started using 4150 but they didn't sell. People wanted 4130 even though 4150 was better. Stickers are still cool. No stickers = stolen bike. I never had another person work on my bike because I don't trust them. If your headset came loose your fork was bent. Now a threaded headset, they were terrible. Shorter stays help with not casing coping. We used to cut inner tubes back in the 1" days and put a section down the fork steerer and pull it up over the head tube to stop crud from getting into the old caged bearings.
I know that I had a tennis ball for about 3 years. It would keep my primo dirtmonster front tire rotating during my manuals. I was really into manual stuff at that time and it helped me. Psychological or actually help . Or both ha
I had a dmc that was well similar in 97
When’s the next video coming out
Today! Kinda, just did a bit of a channel update, could use some ideas if you got em.
Lol good old days 😂 I miss it tiny bars
I have not finished this video yet, but I love the memories,I have two points, I would like to make, I had never seen mid school until props video, I will never forget that, I grew up on RAD and RAD TV ,old school woody Itson , martin Aprihejo GT demo video, I had only seen pictures of kevin jones in BMX plus,I had no idea of rolling tricks yet, then I seen a props video with 1st flatland contest, it had a lot of things, but when I seen chad degroot darkside, it was over for me, many years later I still ride and i still can't believe I can do some of those tricks now, and i recently thru the years got to do a darkside at a contest that chad was part of in florida, it felt like. a full circle moment
Hit it right on the nail lol....definitely loved my slams wit the stem upside down.....that haro seat was the best seat I had.....big heavy duty chain for those disasters....Def 4130 lol even had my old phone # ended in 4130.....great video brings back some memories....I feel I helped wit the brake less trend back then too...thanks for this video
I was at that x games in San Diego in 97. Partied with the S&M guys. Buddy of mine tried the first double backflip on dirt at that comp. Matter of fact he was the first one to land a double backflip on dirt about a year later. That was the first x games dirt comp that had a 6 pack ( 3 sets). Another buddy of mine actually won that comp. TJ took gold that year. Fond memories
Quote, “Nothing says pussy like light beer!”
Bmx quote “FEEL MEEEE”
The tennis ball trend was peak bmx
Always wanted a War Pig older neighbor had a Sabbath and I swear it did inf act weigh 50 lbs
When we used to call stem goose neck. This video made me laugh hella hard. Nostalgia
I think the Alex "Triple Walls" were actually double walled with three chambers?
