Try this technique next time you come across schooling redfish that are a little finicky, whether they're in the open or under a dock. Sometimes less is more!! Daniel Utley made a suggestion on one of my videos to let the lure sit longer and see if the redfish would come to the lure!! I tried it today and it worked!! The day started out with Redfish running just off of the dock as I was heading down to the boat! So, I had to cast to them as it's the "Law". That's not good!! Hwy 61 can get a little scary with how close some of the trees are!! Stay safe!! Thanks for watching the video!!
@ No problem. Fun video, sure it wasn’t warm out there. Brrrr

Thanks so much!! I figured it was worth a try. Thanks for watching the video and the grade. I really do appreciate every view!!
The snow is so pretty 😀
Thx for the comment, Danielle!!
Love the video! Efficiency equals more time fishing and not fighting with stuff getting in your way.
@dennishines649 Thanks for the comment!! I agree 100%. I'm still figuring it out!!
Love how the GLoomis NRX works for inshore! Thanks too for the graphic showing how you set up at the flat to take advantage of the tide.
Thx for the feedback, Molly!! The NRX is awesome!!
Is that a nucanoe ?
Yes. It's a 2023 Unlimited. Love it so far. What do you have?
Both of those would help me on my yak. Mine is paddle only and a place for my paddle would be nice. I have a rod holder that's not quite as flexible. It's good for setting a rod down for rigging or whatever but it's hard to find the right spot to troll with it. The rod and paddle always end up at odds. If I put it forward enough to paddle it's too far and any farther back the paddle hits or I have to paddle weird. I have holders in my hull slightly behind the seat but I think a fish might jerk the rod out of the holder trolling. I'd like to drag a lure every time I move far enough. Hopefully this next spring I'll figure it out for a better season.
Thanks for the reply. I had the same problem with my paddle and rod fighting each other!! Like I said in the video I like to fish in skinny water so I'm using the paddle most of the time. Hopefully this will help me manage the rod and paddle a little better. I was going to make something with PVC pipe for the paddle however I found that by the time I paid for the materials it was better for me to just buy the paddle holders. Do you have any track on your kayak?
@saltwaterjacksfishing yes I have a Vibe Sea Ghost, 13' long. It's got track on both sides. That's where the rod holder gets in the way, unless I push the holder very far forward. Then it's dangerous to grab because I have to lean forward to get it.
@@comfortablynumb9342 Just looked up your Kayak. Nice! I see what you mean about finding a good spot. If I think of something, I'll respond back.
@saltwaterjacksfishing thanks!
Was thinking about your set up. What kind of fish do you target when trolling?
Absolutely Awesome...must have fought like a BEAST!
Like a freight train!! I couldn't believe that I landed the fish!! Definitely lucky!!
My Brother, so glad to see you back on the water...and of course...catching fish! Great day and great video!

Thx so much, Dani!!
What is the December bait situation like that far up in woodville area?
Hey Jason, it's been a while since I've been up that way and don't want to give you misinformation. I've always used artificial lures (usually a TRD Green Pumpkin Goby) and have had success.
Great video for learning a new area!
Thanks for watching the video!!

When do we get a new video? Looks like you are right around the corner from me.
Been down to the dock a few times but only out in the boat 2 times this year. Sometimes it's tough to get out on the water. Hopefully I'll get out soon. Have you been out?
What app did you use to check your tides?
Hey Dauron, I use the Tides Near Me app. It's free!! It will pull data from the closest buoy to your location.
How often do you recommend changing that filter?
Thanks for watching the video. Most people change the filter out annually.
Loved the video! Still trying to understand where to fish in an incoming tide. Can you give me examples on guerin creek please.
If you follow the path in the video just as the water is getting to the grass on the incoming tide, you should be able to at least see some reds pushing. You can also watch the Winter Tips video, which is basically in the same part of Guerrin Creek. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
Here is the link to the video that I mentioned in the last comment. ua-cam.com/video/4ALbIcprGjE/v-deo.html
Great video! I’m fishing the Wando tomorrow, mind giving me the GPS coordinates of spot #2 please.
Thx for watching the video!! That spot is in the Woodville area just above the Paradise Island boat landing. I'll try to send you a couple of screen shots. Good luck!!
Evidently, I can't add screenshots. If you go to Google Maps and find Paradise Island boat landing, it should be the 5th or 6th dock heading up river. If you pause my video, you should be able to figure it out via landmarks. Let me know how you do.
Thanks Jack! Hope to see you on the Wando sometime. Great videos.
Great video. I’m in hobcaw and will come up your way. Curious how you advise fishing on rainy days v cloudy days v sunny days. How much does time of day matter? Winter? Spring, summer fall….etc.
Thanks for the question! I’m going to encourage you to check into barometric pressure and how it affects fishing. You’ll find that rainy and cloudy days will have a lower pressure and sunny days will have a higher pressure. Experts say the best BP for fishing is between 29.70-34.40 and that the best time to fish is just before a storm moves in or about 12-24hrs after a storm moves out. I have found that in the Winter getting up at the crack of dawn isn’t as important as when fishing spring, summer, and fall. Since the water temps are low in the winter and I prefer fishing for Redfish, I have found that fishing in the warmer part of the day 2hrs before and 2hrs after low tide works best for me as the reds will move into shallow water to get warm. Spring and fall it’s usually a feeding frenzy as the fish are fattening up from the winter months in the Spring and fattening up for the winter in the fall. I prefer timing it so that I’m fishing 2hrs before and 2hrs after low tide in the spring and fall as well. However, you can almost fish anytime of the day in the spring and fall and catch fish. During the summer months when it’s crazy hot and the water temps are up, I find that it’s better to fish early morning and late evening. Keep in mind that’s what I prefer. However, if I get the chance to go fishing then I’m going to go fishing!! There are so many things that factor into fishing. In many cases you just need to go fishing and take notes. On one trip you may crush the fish and on the next trip you might get skunked fishing at the same fishing spot with the same lures. That’s just fishing!! As you know we live in an incredible sanctuary! Just enjoy your time on the water! Hope this helps!!
@@saltwaterjacksfishing great tips. Thanks for taking the time and I look forward to seeing you on the creeks.
See you on the water!
What size jig head / weight do you use in the flats ? 1/8 ?
I usually would use a 1/10. When fishing the flats I'm usually sight fishing so I'm not wanting something to heavy that would make too much of a splash to scare the reds. But other things to consider. If the current is really moving over the flats, or the wind is really blowing (which sucks) then you might need something a little heavier to be able to cast and keep it from getting carried out of the strike zone too quickly. I hope that makes since and helps.
Awesome video!
Thanks so much Brad!!

Thanks for the credit! Now that the Reds have been chased around for 2 months by the Dolphins I switch my fishing to around high tide searching the marsh areas near where I have found the schools on low tide and dead sticking the Gulp where I see the Reds shaking the grass from the bottom. Congrats on the tourney win!! Thanks for responding!! I don't mind sharing to help those that don't have the time or maybe they're new to fishing and need some guidance on where some fishing spots are located. As you know you can fish a spot one day and tear them up and then the next day get skunked.
Great video Jack!

bACK IN THE 80;S i USED TO FISH UNDER A BIGWe could BRIDGE on the Wando. We would cut crab in half and drop it un the bottom. You could only do it during low tide. My Aunt and Uncle had a house there right off the river. We would visit about every year. We caught huge red fish doing that.
I love fishing with blue crab!! It's probably the best bait to use for big Redfish!! Thx for sharing those great memories!!
As always, great seeing these videos. Looks like we are neighbors in the N. Wando! Do you ever utilize plastics under a bobber? I use voodoo shrimp usually under a bobber for trout with shrimp procure.
What's funny is I always have popping corks with me, but I haven't used them in a while. I know that they definitely work. Maybe I'll rig one of my rods up and try it next time that I get to go fishing!!
