Great job guys .I need to remove a 15 foot block wall to make a bigger/larger kitchen in my single story house. I noticed that splice Joists are resting on the wall. I know I would need a 15 ft beam to support/replace the block wall that's a load bearing wall. Question: what size beam(4+4 or 6+6) would be best. I will be using treated pine for the beam . Thank you.

Keep in mind the blocking keeps you from getting anything through the wall like electrical or plumbing. I block turning the 2x4 90degrees

Most screws are not acceptable in structural framing. Maybe show the layman framer not to be afraid to use a hammer? Framing is much cleaner using a hammer & nail.

How much weight would you say a nonbearing wall can support? For example, if a client wants some heavy cabinets to be hung from the wall. If everyong is mounted into the studs, how many pounds can a nonbearing wall support?

Cool! I'd love to do that as well but the wall is also shear wall. 😊
