osu!: the science of NERVES
All about nerves, how they happen, and what to do to deal with them. This is actually a pretty complex topic and there's still a lot we might find out in the next few years!
By the way, I didn't say it in the video, but remember to take a deep breath! That also might help a lot :)

    Bro has no idea what he is talking about. Sprinting isn't just about legs, it's more about how good can your brain make your legs function that fast. Same with fingers, you can't build your fingers, you build your brain's ability to make your fingers maneuver fast. Useless video.

    there have actually been several top players who play 3k (tablet) and one who plays 4k (kb+mouse) but none are full alt and most of the time they only use 2 keys at once. 4k and 3k full alt do exist but are very rare and i personally only know one 5 digit who does 4k full alt. i think this is mostly because the vast majority of new players neither hear about nor come up with those playstyles on their own (similar to 2k full alt or ring+index, but more extreme) and indeed partly because they are a bit harder than 2k at first. however, imo once you get used to them, they might only be a bit worse in terms of acc than any 2k playstyle of course, if you already have over 1k hours in a different tapping style then trying to change to any other style would be much more difficult as you fight your muscle memory, and take even more patience since youd feel set back. it is still possible but to give it a proper go takes lots of time and effort that honestly isnt worth it most of the time.

  • @MMenyan
    @MMenyan 2 місяці тому

    you shouldnt overlook the impact of 'talent', which i believe is more important than genetics and comprises a large portion of what ppl attribute to 'better genetics'. i mean, there are a few people with ungodly amount of hours stuck at a 6 digit level despite their best efforts. just because someone has better results with less effort doesnt mean it's innate and couldnt be replicated by you. some examples are past experience with other rhythm games, playing fps games with mouse, handwriting, and even your mentality as a result of how you grew up i also believe a large portion of players far underestimate their own skill ceiling for speed, and not just what they are *technically* capable of given perfect conditions, but what is actually feasible for them without having to play even more per day

    As for the "multiple inputs" i want to say that it is not entirely true what you say, only K1 - M1 and K2 - M2 cancels out the input, there is the Tap+X style where you alternate between K2 and M1 so the inputs don't cancels out (and with that style you can go really fast)

  • @benecrim1724

    Its not just physical. I think proof would be that mrekk a 15 year old with no gym experience has such high speed 💀 its definitely dependent on technique. I have had the same speed of death streaming 230bpm for a year now. But only way i was able to go into 280 bursting abilities with simply changing the way i tap. So if one experiments enough with different techniques. Obviously physical ability is also important because otherwise you wouldn't be able to perfect your tapping ability. Even so ive met so many 14 year olds who are 4 digits and can semi death stream 260bpm. And ive noticed almost all of them have similar tapping styles. Edit:(obviously it depends on the player but that doesn't change my point. Finding the right technique is extremely important. I've learnt this after spending 1k hours on speed alone.) but even after all of that I realized that training finger control is extremely important to maintain acc on speed maps. For example I was only able to maintain 95% ACC on a 270bpm burst speed 7 star. Which makes me realise how truly important finger control is as well.

    Theres never gonna be a perfect technique that everyone should strive for, the reason being that everyones bodys are different. For example, I tried to extend my index finger like merami did in his "test" video and I physically cant even hold it there while using my middle finger for pressing. He taps very hard while others tap light. Some use linear switches, some use tactile. There is no best switch either, I was at my peak 3 years ago with razer greens while pretty much everyone hates greens, but I could stream 250 and jad infinite stamina on 200-215bpm, even up to 230 sometimes, and I was very low 5 digit... I switched to reds and now I have wooting and I cant even stream 220 and I cant alternate anymore. I need tactile switches back

    I think if there's any one piece of advice from my experience that can help, it's "don't cheat"; I don't mean this in terms of literal cheating through downloading some 3rd party application to assist your gameplay. I mean it in terms of how you play. As mentioned in the video, osu! gives you all of the feedback you need to know about your raw performance. However, it doesn't account for how you achieve a certain result. For example, I'd neglected actually trying to tap consistently to the rhythm I hear and feel to tap the circles for a long time. Despite this, through virtue of relying more on trying to read the circle itself to start each pattern. I was still able to get 98, 99, and even 100% accuracy scores, but behind those scores were many other scores where I'd often start a stream early or late because I'd essentially try and "guess" when it started. But it is because I got better at that "guessing" through experiencing what went right and wrong that I never really built that fundamental understanding of starting patterns to more precise point in the music but still built skill and general accuracy. Additionally, even though I knew how to tap patterns (like streams) rhythmically properly after having started them, I'd often strain more to force myself to tap them with the right rhythm, despite the fact that had I gained a better understanding on how to do so without straining, I'd be able to achieve a similar level of accuracy without nearly as much stamina loss or tapping inconsistency when I was more relaxed. Even with jump aim, I'd often press my pen harder into the tablet or try to continuously readjust my aim mid-jump to hit the incoming note. If I had relaxed more and tried to perfect my aim naturally without using these crutches, just like in the tapping scenario, even though I might've missed that specific note, in the long run, not only would I have more aim stamina and less pen slipping, but I'd just become better at aiming fundamentally. TLDR: I think if you don't try to take shortcuts in your technique to achieve a better result in the short-term (like to get better accuracy on a certain stream or hit a certain job), osu! gives you the feedback to help you achieve better skill in the long run.

    The only other solution I can think of is to buff the pp of other types of maps (yes, including jump aim). The competition with a pp system that prioritizes aim (or at least weighs it as much as speed) is a much more fair competition. There isnt much physical limitation to aiming as it is 95% a mental skill, and the physical aspect of aiming cannot be cheesed to the degree with which speed can.

    You hit the nail on the head. Osu is the coach because it provides instant feedback. There's no strategy no teamplay, only you and your ability to click circles, because of this incredibly lack of complexity (compared to other areas in life). Genetics are the main driver of your progress speed and how far you are able to push your skill.

  • @steveboel12
    @steveboel12 5 місяців тому

    I find it ironic how he used sprinting as the analogy throughout the video. Sprinting is one of the, if not, the sport that is the most determined by genetics: muscle insertions, bone length etc. Furthermore, nothing of value was said in the video. It is extremely obvious that there are better and worse ways to stream high bpm. Also, nobody ever said to only play maps that are in your comfort zone either. Pushing the boundaries has always been something associated with any skill. This whole video can be summed up with 1 sentence at 8:18 . How about providing some actual content that relates physiology with osu in an interesting way, instead of just a khan acaemdy from wish-seque explenation at 3:22 . Because if not, what then is the reason of pointing out that you have degree in physiology (as of writing).

    I feel like osu! coaching can be good for pointing out what a player is doing wrong or lacking, but a bit silly because the solution will almost always be "play more of this skillset". What has really helped me get a lot better is being able to recognize what areas I was lacking in, and using my resources to find/make maps in that skillset. Some people just lack the intuition to spot and correct their own mistakes. In RL I had fantastic intuition and hit top rank extremely fast, but in this game it took me waaaaay too long to find out how to improve.

    now that akolibed has been crushing speed maps this topic is even more relevant. The new top play is insane don't get me wrong, but 1700 PP is definitely overweighted. I can hold 270BPM maps for like 30 seconds ,and 220BPM maps for like 4 Minutes. and for bursts I was able to burst 370BPM.
