@Rustkill2010 Maybe not. When I found the 06 98, it looks like a date. Maybe original fan didn't fit with the new radiator. Would be nice to get a full rundown, of everything the previous owners did and why. Always a mystery.

@jacobsimmons3565 You shouldn't have to press that hard. Disconnect the bottom end of the rod that goes their the firewall and see it the high tension is caused by the return spring attached to the peddle. If it's not that, there may be something going on in the bellhousing with the clutch fork or pressure plate. Not sure about a video that shows the inside if the bellhousing.

Not sure if this is the main ground to the dash but I have a spade connector with a screw coming from underneath up through the bottom lip. Right above the right edge of the parking brake pull. Have to make sure good contact to metal, not paint.

I'm no expert. But I used 80 grit glass bead initially. Was pretty happy with it. About 30lbs was enough to feed my cabinet. Am using 70 grit aluminum oxide now and honestly don't notice a difference. Takes about a 50lb bucket for the cabinet. I like the white aspect of the bead because big flakes of paint that might clog the gun are more noticeable. Got both at harbour freight.

Thats a great idea for the booth! Should be plenty of room to hang the parts.

I think you are referring to what they are rated for. You have to add the insulation all around to help get it advice 400. I've gotten mine to 500. Just remembered that you also have to dismantle or insulate or otherwise keep the built in thermometer rod from reading the full temp because it will turn off the coil before it gets to temp.

@@steve80TBG THAT was the answer I was looking for. How would you suggest I dismantle or insulate the thermocouple and how would I keep it from going over degrees? I have the Masterbuilt with a window, no thermometer and the digital control on top is what shows the temp and time.

@hawaiibikekahuna8204 that's a tough one but assuming you can get a separate thermometer to tell you the real temp, I'd try wrapping the probe with insulation or aluminum foil enough to be able to get upper 400s real temp before the smoker turns off. You should be able to then establish a rough conversion. Example, if you set it at 250, the real temp is about 409.

@@steve80TBG So I could cover or uncover the probe to where it will consistently keep a 400 degree temp.

Yes, Omix makes one that looks reasonably close to original. A lot really like SpeedHut but they are expensive - and dont look original - depending on what your objectives are. I wanted to stick to original and actually just last night think I found a short in my signal wire which may be causing some of the issues - need to replace and see.

There is an ato clip that plugs into the fuse box I believe for ignition power. If you have a newer radio with a memory, you'll need to find an available always on 12v. I used a fuse piggy back on another fuse that's always on. Then a ground you could get from any body bolt behind the dash.

Glad you are getting a chance to do it right. I didn't know exactly what to expect and just glad it seems to be working ok. One day I'll try to figure out why the bench test failed. I rebuilt my starter next and now going to refinish at least the outside of the power steering pump.

Have heard about others having so many issues with grounding, I sanded off those couple of contact points to avoid running into the same thing. Might have been why the benchtesting didn't work. Been working fine for several weeks now.

Yeah, there is something not quite right about it. Doesn't react to the engine but feel better that I tested it with a mechanical. Kind of viewing it as a oil pressure good vs bad rather than a helpful range. I might replace at some point.

It was an overstock item. Have also seen pretty big discounts from harbor freight on scratch and sent stuff. Looking through Facebook marketplace you can find some good deals if you aren't in a hurry.

Those measurements will work on my glass tub. I will just have to make sure I have correct seat brackets in the right places. If you search on web for pictures a lot have been switched around or are aftermarket. I can't thank you enough. Anyone mounting brackets to glass tub needs to reinforce that area of tub to avoid cracking of tub. George

Glad it helped. I've heard glass tubs are not pre drilled for a lot of stuff, or reinforced. Good idea to pay attention to that and do what you can to shore up. Let me know if you need any others.

It was my powder coating screw up.

I made a video of the smoker a while back - walkthrough of the modifications. I don't have a video but it's pretty straight forward. 2 bolt studs go through the firewall, just remove those nuts. Then 1 bolt just behind the lower part of the dash. Then the tricky part is pull out the clip holding the cable in, but then may have to go underneath and loosen the cable to give enough slack to disconnect the cable from the parking brake.

A Husky 2 stage 30gal C304H. It really all depends on what and how often you are using it for. I trolled facebook for a while and all the pro guys tout the biggest you can get. For me, this works great. I can run it for quite a while before I stop to let it cool down. Maybe 30+ minutes. It pretty steadily up with my 1/4 inch line and fine tip in the blaster. I'm doing maybe 3-5 bracket sized items at a time and its perfectly fine for that. Doing a video on the compressor is next on my list. The two stage as I understand it also is quieter and more efficient. I was concerned about noise, being in an enclosed garage bit it doesnt bother me at all, barely audible in the house. For DIY, its a good fit.

Yeah, I probably didn't save any time messing around with and gutting the converting the existing valve - more curious what was inside it and see if it was even possible.

I might have been lucky, but I pulled all of my existing wire and just soaked the whole clump in degreaser and spent some time cleaning them. Was all intact with very few splices so I was able to reuse the original.

Very frustrating, am surprised I don't hear about it more. Just kind of preciously pushed up against it without much protection from slipping out.

Good question. I had it there for a while. For some, it may be just the cleaner look, which it helps, but I was also a little concerned about the potential for a vacuum leak.

Yes, I got a sandblasting setup last year and have been making my way around the jeep. I did a video on smoker conversion to an oven. Worked great and been really happy with it. Not big enough for the carrier itself. Had to send that out.
