How To: Journaling in Cricut DS

I am feeling quite vulnerable posting this video- bringing this video to life required doing things that intimidated me- BUT I hope it answers your questions about journaling using Cricut DS, and inspires more discussion around hybrid scrapbooking using your electronic die cutting machine.
The only materials required to generate digital journaling is your electronic die cutting machine and your own brain power, along with a bit of ingenuity.

Hi Allison. I love your creative layouts. How are you able to get the cricut to write the words without making them have the outline look?
Thank you so much! I use fonts that are multi-functional- meaning they are cut and draw capable. In DS, select TEXT from the tool panel on the left side of your canvas. After you’ve clicked on TEXT, select which font you like best from the FONT pull down menu at the top left of your canvas. Underneath each font, you’ll notice words like multi-layer, single layer, writing, etc. The fonts that are used multiple ways are listed underneath each font. Select a font that has SINGLE LAYER AND WRITING or just WRITING beneath it. If you choose single layer + writing, head back to the top left of the toolbar on your canvas, and select WRITING from the STYLE drop down menu. If the font is strictly writing, nothing else needs to be done. I hope this helps!

It’s actually a cut file from DS that I edited to fit my story, called Perfectly Imperfect. Image #M505B159C It’s available to Access members. HTH!!

I would like to know how you did the Journaling on your Cricut? Do you have a video on that?
I do not currently have a video, but I can certainly record one. It's very simple, really. Using the text function in DS, type out the words you want, then adjust the sizing to fit your journal spot. It can be customized further with different fonts, as well. It's a bit vague, but I hope that helps!
