Great video to see how things are done in Italy. I have a couple questions if you could be so kind to answer. 1, What is the waste line going to the roof for? Is it a roughed in supply line for future use? 2. Is there any venting to the roof? In most photos of Italian homes I've seen there doesn't seem to be any pipes on the roof. 3. I have read through all the comments and two other people asked about the cost and you said about $5,000 to 25,000 Euros. Thats a pretty big range. If I have the exact same job as yours would it be closer to $5,000 or $25,000?

My advice to anybody thinking about purchasing a house/an apartment from a foreign country. Go and rent a place and live there for a month, two, three, six months at first. Only then can you find out if that country, area, city suits your way of living and gives you the things you want. Also, if it seems to be the kind of place you like, it is easier to go and look for the "perfect" apartment/house when you can take your time and shop around and compare, instead of hastily choosing between a handful of options.

Just returned after 2 weeks in southern Italy. We stayed for 5 days in the Old Town section as Italians call it and I agree with dogs, cars, festival music, etc. but if you close the window you don’t really hear it. Also quiets down 10 to 11 pm. Being also from the US and interested in purchasing in southern Italy, tax confusion is has me on pause for the moment. Can I ask how Italy taxes have affected you ? For example I am trying to find out if you are in Italy less than 183 days a year, you don’t have to report US income and you are not taxed. I’ve read you have to report all your US assets to Italy as well as there is property tax on your home. Can you tell us what you found?

Very interesting and helpful - I was doubting that not everything was so wonderful as they want to tell you specifically the real estate agents - Salento with love seems to be be very helpful but for me I want to see it in person because many of your concerns - barking dogs - traffic noises - parking etc the locals do not consider as it is normal to them. Ciao Stefano, Congrats on your 50th episode! Your list of items is well constructed hitting all the joys/challenges of buying, renovating and living in an Italian village. I would further emphasize: piano - piano (slowly -slowly). My place is located north of Roma (Sabina) and accomplishing tasks of any variety just takes longer than home in Canada, The locals will help you achieve your goals but do tend to look at you strange when you say oggi (today), what's the rush!?!? Having just returned home a couple of days ago, I alreqdy miss the italian vibe and lifestyle. Enjoy your continued Italian journey , cheers!

I got tired watching. Good work! You’re fortunate to know how to do all this. When I buy, I’ll be at the mercy of renovation company I use. OR get a new place or refurbished home…..

You're doing great work and very thorough. Would love to do similar, maybe one day before it's too late. One point on the pouring of blue liquid to bucket. If you pour from the spout at the bottom, the liquid will struggle and gurgle out. Have the spout of container on the left or right when pouring. It will struggle less, giving a more controlled pour. Less mopping and better control, swear, give it a try 😊😊😊😊😊
