Music Trivia 1965: Do You Know These 1965 Songs? Easy to Hard, 4 Rounds (Quiz)
It's pronounced "San-frin-cisco" not san fRAN cisco. Trying too hard.
Link Wray did that years before.
Those were the days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a capitalist country a d there was no money in lsd
The psychedelic era was a nexus point, where a number of conditions came all together at one point in time and then evolved into hard rock, prog, fusion, etc. New advances in electronic equipment, recording studio techniques, improved musicianship, philosophic writing and hallucinogens all contributed to it.
I thought (then session guitarist) “Little” Jimmy Page played Dave’s parts on You Really😊 Got Me😅
They both said no that wasn’t the case.
I think, Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones predates that. Speaker cone cutting is a bit of a myth. Robbie Robertson convinced the other Toronto guitar players to do it, and then was the only guy with a proper amp. people used to damage amps to achieve that od or distortion tone This is more myth than reality. e.g. stories about how Ray or Dave Davies (it's disputed which one) cut a speaker cone with a knife to get a more distorted tone. In reality, early amps just didn't have much headroom and the tubes went into overdrive fairly early. Leo Fender hated this and his designs were intended to stay clean at loud volumes. Some of his 'failures' are the most coveted amps today. Go figure. So, a low watt amp clipped kinda easy.😊😊😊😊
It was an awesome while we (some) engaged in Pot and Hashish with the odd mushroom thrown in. Only to have cocaine, meth amthamine, and other hard drugs enter the scene and completely change and destroy it, until it's a dark and ugly place.
animals that defy description, lol.....
im not a huge beach boys fan, i like them but i think the byrds were closer in spirit to the beatles especially during the psychedelic era, brian wilson didnt want to grow up and as a result there was more of a child like quality to the beach boys, they lack the RnB edge of other bands of the era
Kinks,proto punk
Heavy metal ??? try to locate a book by MASARU EMOTO ⬅️. His experiments in sound will astound. More importantly .. he will give you a profound reveal about Heavy Metal Music .. IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND ! and have an impact on in anyone listening to this music.
As Kurt Cobain said. His parents Generation came close to social change than gave up.
Paul McCartney 😊❤
I was too young for that era but knowing me, I would’ve left with the beatniks.
Love the music 🎶 Philadelphia USA 🇺🇸
Kinks were great. Loved them.
I truly appreciated the thoroughness of your research and the insightful content regarding this era. Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Colombia, South America!
Thank you so much 🙏appreciate your kind words and support!
Sounds awesome thanks.
It was not a sustainable lifestyle. Odd thing is, the ones living the life were the victims of the persons marketing and facilitating the life. They allowed themselves to be used by the very same thing that they were protesting. It was a life full of contradictions and hypocrites. My older brother fell into it head first. He left home and went to California. Lived in communes and hung out in San Francisco. He realized that he needed to get out or fix it. So he went back to school and became a psychologist. Stayed in San Francisco, talk about going to your customer base. He became "The Establishment".
Some say it was Page and some say it wasn't.
I believe the B side of paperback Writer was Yes It Is. This song would become extremely popular; a favorite song of Ringo's as well as John Lennons first wife Cynthia. I've always considered it one of Lennon's best songs from that particular period in 1966. Of course Paul's A side was great!! ( I might be mistaken on the years)
He looks like a Muswell hillbilly boy.
No American music?
this is all untrue
It's crazy to think the way Teddy Boys dressed was considered wild and dangerous. If a young man dressed like that now, his peers would think of him looking too proper and posh
lol I know, times sure have changed.
Such poor self confidence , in a woman so beautiful. What a shame. I'm glad she finally found happiness xx
Small Faces were the best mod band
Really? Hmmmmmm.... Rock and roll was rebellious way before the Kinks. They, actually, arrived late to the game.
I remember the Minions..
They were so receptive of what they thought were great songs and the influence of others, that they became quite influential.
This song was the future of rock music!!!!.
ThIS WAS A COOL VIDEO. THANKS FOR SHARING
You’re welcome
Agreed, because no matter what man comes up with in government be it communism, socialism and pretty soon capitalism and anything else man comes up with in the future will always fail because of this one killer of many kingdoms, governments and Empires: Political Corruption. Currently, the only way to make political corruption in all governments in the entire global community, illegal and make it stick is if every citizen of every government in the world is armed with nuclear weapons and biological agents such as novichok to simply divide from government and go on without them as they would all have absolutely no political at all, ever again. However, that will never happen as more than likely we are going to soon get nukes from other nations because of our government in which religious and political dogma will prove to be our mass murderers in WW3. But, in either case, so long as we have such destructive governments run by crooks we'll always be made to be slaves in them and they'll call it, freedom, if they are not much more openly slave masters. Yup, things are pretty much fucked up.😢
What's the point without the music!!
Touch me!
The Monkees were way better looking men
What exactly is a tree ...?
Don't cry,ev'rything flows, stars race even when we see them standing still...farewell also means.. move on ..! Grief has tears ,but so does happiness. They arrive and go ev'rywhere we look around ... melancholy ... 😥
You are stretching that a bit mate!
Great story about that iconic song.
Love, love, love The Kinks.
Kinks are still raging😮
A lot of the hippie movement was naive and unsustainable. Then it became commercialized and a parody of itself.
The band Prefab Sprout had a meeting with their CBS representative in New York & were suprised to see Bruce Springsteen exit the office as they were entering. The rep told them to write songs like Bruce if they wanted a hit & that night Paddy the singer wrote cheekily a song called Cars & Girls & it was a hit !
I am in with Daltry here. " I liked it all". In the end of the day, I leaned MOD just because I like suits. Though the MOD's were always very arrogant and high on. themselves, and I could never balance that. The Rockers/ Greasers were always far more open and friendly. So in the end, I ended up being a fringe player in a half dozen subcultures. I would say now, and even then, better to go all in on one club then just dabble about.
I always thought John wrote Paperback Writer. Since he had written a book.
I know, it makes sense but on the other hand, John is not the type to beg a publisher.
I thought it was the stones that introduced the fuzz tone base
growing up the prevailing opinion seemed to be that the 70s was a period of crap music..cant say i agree..
Biggest trends not mentioned: liberated girls in miniskirts, the beginning of sex before marriage, Ready Steady Go ousting Top of The Pops. Juke Box Jury. London when it was English.
