What Led to the Demise of the Psychedelic 60s?
The psychedelic 60's emphasis on peace, love, and togetherness reflected an idealistic vision of a harmonious society unbound by conformity. But as time goes on the dark side of humanity begins to creep in. This movement rooted in liberation takes a dark turn no one saw coming. #music #1969

From Merseybeat to Freakbeat: The Collapse of the 1960’s Beat Music Scene
Переглядів 32 тис.14 днів тому
In the early 1960s, Beat music exploded out of Liverpool with an infectious energy that captivated listeners around the world. The upbeat Merseybeat sound soon evolved into the harder, edgier freakbeat style. But as the decade progressed, this once-dominant sound began to give way to a new wave of musical experimentation and complexity. #1960s #music ▶️ More Inspiring Music Stories www.youtube....

1965 the year i left school. the 50's 60 and 70's were the era of music that i loved. it's easy for people of my generation to see the changes that changed music forever. here we are in 2024 and much of the stuff that is churned out is satanic shit that is meaningless . yep even the music industry has been hijacked by those bastards we are not allowed to talk about the same satanic twats that control Hollywood and most of the media. Perhaps that makes me antisemitic in the eyes of those fake biblical retards. then so be it. 😆

Because there were so many cultural changes happening within a condensed space of time, the release of the album "Forever Changes " in 1967 by Arthur Lee and LOVE, shall for me, always be symbolic of that period, while at the same being relevant every year since ❤

The dream was beautiful, but reality just got in the way. I was only fourteen in 1967 and the coolest place in the world to be was San Francisco, at least that is how it seemed to this English kid. I still remember that period as something special, a glimpse of how it could be if only we would let it, then the door closed.

60s had unique blend of space race, war, drugs, the pill, epic legislation, assassinations, the list never stops. It was all a big recipe for expressive music unlike any before or after.

I think this video over thought the phenomena of the time. There was a huge youthful generation coming of age lead by a spoiled bunch of rich kids that had no desire to fight in the mud of Vietnam. Facing a draft and an unpopular war when all they wanted to do is drink, take drugs and puck. They trivialized and demonized the traditional values of their parents and put their talents and energy on anything but. When the Vietnam War ended in 1975, and the draft ended in 1976 the urge to live in a commune died with it. The spoiled rich kids cut their hair, put on a suit, got a corporate job, got married and raised a family. They destroyed their hippy pictures and told their kids nothing of their youthful perversions. With it died the psychedelic movement.

Tet Offensive, Nixon, Altamont, Manson, burnout, Apollo 11 and end of the decade brought a return to earth. And sadly came in denim, long hair, awful 70s music, and macrame.

The Summer of Love was coined by the press to describe San Francisco in '67. In reality '66 was more like it. After all the press coverage the criminals big and small converged on SF to take advantage - swindlers, thieves and even murderers like Manson began to hit town.

It was a social fad. All fads go away with time. People tire and have to support themselves, often have to support children. It was not a productive fad. It was an expense. Most music stars died before they were 30. They were the only ones that made a living from the fad. It was drug based movement. Many wound up in jail. Some stayed so wasted they stopped eating food and died. You are glorifying the commercial aspect of the time. You are ignoring the persons that made it happen. They suffered because of it. Shame on you.

You can’t dismiss the role drugs played, and in particular, LSD and other psychotropics in introducing fresh perspectives on life and its meaning along with questioning societal norms. Similarly, coffee, with its drug caffeine, some historians say may have sparked The Age of Enlightenment.

Music started to change in 65. But the songs were still on AM and regulated to under 4 minutes. The real change started in 19 67 with the first rock FM station and all music from all groups could be played. As FM expanded at universities and private stations. Music exploded into different sounds and styles.

I believe it was the CIA that put a close to the phenomenon that was the psychedelic 60s, which they had helped to create, by controlling the narrative concerning Charles Manson and the Tate-LoBianco murders. The CIA effectively controlled the information in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which led to the end of the peace and love movement. The CIA’s MK ULTRA, backfired as far as the 1960s were concerned, but they wanted to take control of the cat they let out of the bag, because of the anti war movement, and how the 1960s threatened the status quo. Nothing like the mid to late 1960s had ever occurred, in any culture in history. It was the renaissance of eastern thought, in the West. The uptight scene of the 1950s, and very early 1960s, became undone once the psychedelics and grass entered American, and British culture. Just look at photos of The Beatles on the has Sullivan show in 1963, which was pre-marijuana and psychedelics, and then look at the Beatles when they did “All you need is love,“ on the first satellite transmission in Britain thatreached all fivecontinents. Things would never be the same again. The CIA narrative poison, the thoughts by emphasizing the Charles Manson murders over the peace and love of Woodstock that summer. And the deaths at Altamont put another nail in the coffin of the 1960s. Then there was the deaths of some of the most talented musicians of the 1960s; Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Brian Jones. I guess it was inevitable that the spirit of the 1960s would have to come to a close at some point, but not this way.

On Number 1, "Something" the girl in the picture is Patty Boyd, George Harrison's wife. She later became Eric Clapton's wife after he composed "Layla" in tribute to her.
