The Real Reason The Hollies Clashed with Graham Nash in 1968
In the mid-60s, The Hollies were one of the UK’s most successful pop groups, known for hits like Bus Stop and Carrie Anne. Their polished sound and signature harmonies made them a staple of the British Invasion. But by 1967, Graham Nash was pushing for a more experimental, psychedelic direction-one that clashed with the band’s radio-friendly formula. As visions clashed, The Hollies faced a turning point that would ultimately reshape their future and rock history itself. This is the story of the battle over The Hollies’ sound, and the lasting impact of their artistic crossroads and what happened after the turning point.
**Unfortunately, I was forced to remove the song Bus Stop by the record company which revised a couple of spots. Not my choice. My apologies.**

With CSN I was always a Stephen Stills fan, but I also thought Nash was the nicest of all of them. His friendship and support of David Crosby was always strong until even he couldn't handle Crosby's personality.
And replacement was Mickael rickfors if i remember correctly
No need to look so deep, Many alcoholics die young
They all choked on the weed they had. And they all became butterflies.
Hollies …antique popsingers who no one listens too commercially - Graham Nash ++ CSNY or CSN never off the lists - look at the play figures on the streaming services…. A different league altogether
I love Marakesh Express! Iggy Pop is an idiot! I’ve never liked his music.
DRUGS
Simply love He ain't heavy
Die KI Kommentare sind Mist. So macht man Filme von dingen von den man keine Ahnung hat und auch von filmen keine Ahnung hat.
The commentary repeats itself throughout the video. Do better
What a great overview of that time and movement. Thanks.
You’re welcome ☺️
Never been a fan of Iggy Pop
The world before money became religion. Mindset is everything. Whatever your mindset is, it means every thought you have is born from there, and thus so is every action you make. When money became religion it meant that profit became God and from there grew the mindset of the future. To this day, we still have not found a way out of that "Greed is good" mindset.
Doing covers of CSN and sometimes Y depending on our line up I would either take either Graham's or David's parts Neil not so much but the high end of my falsetto ends one note shy of the high A in AHA's Take on me
60's output definitely, Evolution and Butterfly are just great albums... Bobby's Syrup, not so great
CSN so overrated. Hollies far better band especially after Nash left.
❤
It wasn't a political regime or a movement, so there was no 'collapse.' It was fashion, and it changed into another fashion in time. For the very few 'figureheads' involved, there were hundreds of thousands of mindless faddists across the Western world of pampered teens and twentyish average folks. Each cohort of the younger generation thinks they are revolutionaries and rebels. No big deal. The tiresome hippies are the only ones who think they have a monopoly.
Just One Look was a cover of a late5 0's or early 60's tune.
You ,rightly ,identify the Deep-State’s plan to alter society and precipitate chaos and break-up of a cohesive society. The CIA played a Central role in this fragmentation . With the fabric of society destroyed, and “old-fashioned” culture ridiculed, the masses could be , more, easily controlled , and their opposition blunted .
The long 'a' in the word Appalachian makes my ears hurt. I grew up there and no one ever pronounced the word that way.
I love the way they came out in matching suits just like the Temptations and the Stylistics but the didn't have the moves on stage! ❤ but I love them all. But I was just a kid so I didn't care about the in fighting. La- la- la- la- la-la- la I love you!🤗. But musical ego often clash so Cest la vie!😎
Became Yippees; then College professors and Hollywood producers.
The Beatniks morphed into hippies.
I liked, "Bus Stop", and "Long Cool Woman". The rest I'd change the station. Most of the Hollies stuff was too polished, and over produced, for my liking. I must admit, everything they did was better than any song, from the last 35 years.
Lysergic acid diethylamide. The CIA & Stanford conducted LSD experiments on Allen Ginsberg and other counter-cultural luminaries like, Ken Kesey and Robert Hunter.
The Peace movement was slaughtered by the Military Industrial Complex. Literally they bumped people off!
King Midas is frankly a mess
Time has proved Graham Nash to be right. The Hollies are a nice memory, but Nash became part of something timeless with C,S,N and Y. Plus his solo stuff. ❤
“Who’s fighting, and wot for?” M Jagger, Altamont I recently bought a ‘65 Mustang in Pacifica, CA. Trailering the car home, I went by Altamont. It’s still a bleak area…..
The Beatles
Iggy who?
The "Real" Reason? It's the only reason as far as I know. "King Midas in Reverse" is their best song but obviously they wanted to do teen-pop luv songs and cover versions. They seemed to have no interest in taking risks with their songwriting. Not that Nash was much of an innovator, he was a bit of a copycat himself but at least it was more interesting than teen-luv ditties. CSN seem to be responsible for 70s soft rock.
Changed the world forever? A slight exaggeration methinks. But I was a mod when I was very young and then became a Hippy 🌼peace man👋✌️😎
It can be argued that Country Joe and the Fish’s debut record “Electric Sounds for the Mind and Body”, released May ‘67, was the first psych record released. Who can forget “Bass Strings" as the lyrics admitted they all smoked marijuana, which was a felony at the time; at the end of the track Joe can be heard whispering the letters "L-S-D".
Shakin' All Over was Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, NOT The Guess Who. I was there.
Just One Look was a cover of a song by Doris Troy.
Bus Stop is a great tune, says the 68yr old Motown dude. Great documentary. Nice historical cover. Good music never dies!
There was so much more going on in the sixties than these frivolous pop stars.
Weird, I always thought of the Dead as an Eighties band, since the Eighties is when they charted for the first time.
This video is so lazy
Can't anybody edit anymore? This would be a great 30 minute piece, but there are so many repeats in the narration that it drags on forever.
Maybe this is why he did one and didn't perform for several years...These aren't fans who criticized him for going electric, they're morons.
I do prefer The Hollies with Larry Sylvester! I prefer CSN with Graham Nash!! LCWIABD and The Air That I breathe are their best! Graham Nash wasn't needed, after LS's arrival!!
The only thing the Beats had right was their opposition to commercialism and consumerism.
The Beats were not Bohemians.
I became aware of the Hollies in the mid '60s through a friend of mine, Harry Gryder. I have been a life long fan of Graham Nash ever since. Thank you, Harry, hope you're watching.
"Just One Look" was a hit for Doris Troy before the Hollies sang it. No one in the band had a hand in writing it.
Iggy pretty much nailed it.
Any Woodstock documentary that focuses on Woodstock NY is ill-informed and not worth watching.
