RAS MIC IS LYING TO YOU ABOUT AI
*DESCRIPTION*
Welcome to an explosive reaction video where I tear apart Ras Mic’s misleading and outdated take on AI in development! In his latest video, he claims that “AI is making developers terrible” and glorifies old-school line-by-line coding. But let’s be real: this mindset is completely out of sync with where the industry is heading in 2024.
Here’s my take: The skill of coding line-by-line is like learning to beat rocks together to make fire in the Stone Age. It’s outdated, inefficient, and irrelevant in a world where tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and Cursor allow us to solve real-world problems faster than ever.
In this video, I break down why Ras Mic’s arguments are flawed and why developers and non-developers alike need to embrace AI tools, not fear them. I’ll also call out the obvious sponsor-driven bias in his video, showing you why his advice might lead you astray.
___
*WHAT THIS VIDEO COVERS*
- The Evolution of Coding Skills: Why line-by-line coding is no longer relevant.
- Why AI Makes You a Smarter Developer: Tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and Cursor are game-changers.
- Breaking Down Ras Mic’s Arguments: Where his video goes completely off track.
- Lessons from Thought Leaders: Drawing from Naval Ravikant, Balaji Srinivasan, and Yuval Noah Harari to highlight how tools and technology have always been at the core of human evolution.
- The Future of Development in 2024: Why learning how to leverage AI is the real skill of the future.
___
*WHY RAS MIC IS WRONG*
In his video, Ras Mic suggests that relying on AI makes you a "terrible developer" because it robs you of the “learning experience” of fixing your own mistakes. But here’s the truth:
- Mistakes Still Happen: Even when using AI, you still learn as you adapt, debug, and improve workflows.
- AI Levels the Playing Field: Developers no longer need to spend 10 years mastering syntax to build applications. AI enables non-coders like me to build, launch, and scale products faster than ever.
- Coding Is About Problem-Solving, Not Syntax: The real value lies in building impactful applications and solving real-world problems-not memorizing lines of code.
___
*LESSONS FROM HISTORY*
Drawing from Yuval Noah Harari’s Sapiens, I explain how humans have always offloaded grunt work to tools and technology. From fire-making to calculators to AI, the skillset of value constantly evolves.
- Naval Ravikant teaches us the power of leverage: Using tools like AI makes developers and entrepreneurs more efficient, creative, and impactful.
-
As Balaji Srinivasan highlights, exponential technologies like AI level the playing field, allowing anyone with access to these tools to outperform entire teams of traditional developers.
If you’re clinging to outdated coding practices, you’re getting left behind. The industry rewards problem-solving, creativity, and innovation-not knowing every detail of syntax by heart.
___
*CALLOUT TO RAS MIC*
And to Ras Mic: You’ve done great work before, but this video feels like a sponsored cash grab. If you’re going to push an anti-AI narrative, at least be consistent. Most of the tools you’ve promoted in the past rely on AI anyway!

Questionable take 👎
Why?
Thanks for the forecast! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Scam.
👎👎👎
why?
Great video Harshith, btw have you tried Warp terminal?
Gonna look into this 👍
Any other uses of scraping..??
Absolutely! Let's say you are looking for Startup Ideas - and you want to validate them - you'd need a Proxy + Web Scrapper to scrape through Reddit, Product Hunt etc.
@harshith_eth thank for the response, what about building app and website..??
🫓🤏
What would’ve been impressive is if you integrated it with OpenAI and setup a payments
Noted. Will be doing that in the next video.
what you think is the new SEO skill to show top in Gpt or perplexity search? eg when it comes to a youtube video?
To rank well in Perplexity, focus on creating high-quality, relevant content that answers user queries clearly. Build authority through reputable backlinks and maintain a positive online reputation. Regularly update your content and structure it in a Q&A format to enhance visibility.
@ Great insights! Do you think it applies to YT videos too? I think LLM chats only provide reputable text based web links only.
Woah you asked chat gpt a ❓. I could never do such a thing
this is very fast nice intro for this
Glad you like it
Wonderful, Bolt It's for sample application and Landing pages, if you want to build complex applications you finish your credit or token. Better to download the project and use cursor or windsurf Ai
Absolutely! Been facing the same issue. Yet to explore Windsurf - but I see they’re doing something crazy. Also I’m building a self hosted version of Bolt - where we don’t have to pay for tokens anymore… So stay tuned. Also do subscribe 🫡
what about boilerplate
Will work on that too!
Everything looks solid expect the domain name of your app. I am not saying using own name is bad but a name like 'Skool' sounds more catchy and easy and to remember.
That's completely true. But skool.com lacks a lot of customization - and also this series is designed to show how a non coder can build a SaaS using AI Tools - and by the end of the series - we would be having a complete dashboard for the community members - FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE.
Yeah i think you are right and in my opinion the next big thing in 2025 is ai agents which agencies will build and give it in monthly recurring model. It's is in initial stage rn and mostly by quarter of next year half of the people will start doing it. And yeah openai is also launching its ai agent next year mostly in January so people start using it make their own agents sell it to the business and make money from that, sharing just my pov on this and i am learning this rn
It's interesting to see your thoughts on AI agents, and you're right that it's already happening. A prime example is the Truth Terminal on Twitter, which operates as an AI agent that has even become a millionaire through its activities. This AI was designed to manage its own social media presence and has attracted significant attention and funding, including a $50,000 investment in Bitcoin to support its operations.
@harshith_eth I wish I could work with you

writing code that just works is easier using tools these days, but writing code that works, is scalable, maintainable, robust and modular is something that required expertise
You’re wrong here. You’ve simple not explored the AI landscape enough - or simply *Blocked* you’re mind to it. I’ve just launched a complete Episodic Series where I build a SaaS from nothing to a proper scalable application. I’ve already posted 4 videos and made significant progress. You can join my journey and build with me 🚀
@harshith_eth can you send link? I'll watch & learn.
There you go @overunityinventor ua-cam.com/video/uPohzMeYl8w/v-deo.html
nice. waiting for local bolt.new video
Definitely!! But my setup is taking time 😭 Will try to share it by this week. 🫡
And once we finish with the AI created PPT, Is it freely Downloaded and used in Microsoft PPT!? If not then it’s of no use I think! What do you say!?
You raise a good point. Once some with the PPT - it possible to export the code and work on it manually. But no PPT 👀
How old were you?
Was 17…
I kinda agree with you but the times you showed up for building a conventional SaaS are overinflated
Firstly thanks for watching. So the numbers yes - definitely inflated for the word “SaaS” But there’s a massive shift coming where the small players collectively eat up market share of the giants. I’d say you’re in the 1% - maybe that’s why we feel that way… Soon - an average Karen would be able to ship a software in hours….that would be Huge!
I've not heard of shadcn before, that's going to be a game changer for whipping up things faster. I'm listening to this at work and taking notes. Glad I found your channel!

Gotcha! Gonna give that a try. That’s true tho - LLMs understand LLMs better
Great bro waiting for the next video
Really appreciate it 🫡 Just moved to a new place and the internet here is so dead 😭 Shall get it fixed soon.

Check out a monorepo/turborepo setup bro. It might work better for you with wanting to keep features organized better.
Thanks @dylansdaubenspeck - just looking into this. Had no idea that Vercel acquired Turborepo. Honestly - this is what I love about building in public - getting feedback - as I'm learning everyday. Best.
🎉❤
One Constructive feedback for your channel: Ppl generally don't like to watch episodes. Your viewers will decrease after every episode you release. I don't maybe try to fit all the content about a application in one long video
Yeah - been noticing that... But I got a special request for an episodic series as there's a lot of backend and authentication. And a complete building process for an entire Dashboard. My thought process was - even if most don't watch - I'll still have proof of work.
your content is fire
Thank you so much man!!

Absolutely @RajivDattani - will be posting the other episodes soon. Would be great to have you in the Community as well 🫡
you have a very good camera, but your mic is not the best, or is set too loud, also there is no context to this clip.
Agree to all your pointers. - Mic - the DJI has some issues. - And about context - I basically used a software that makes my long form videos into short form and posts it. ___ So you can definitely watch the long form videos to get real / deeper insights into AI
Can we use Vs code instead of cursor IDE.
VS Code is shit right now - they've added some new features with GitHub integration. But Cursor is crazy with prompting and coding.
Keep going brother!⚡
Thanks bhai 🫡
Great Video how to Connect to DB and. Fix Links like contact us etc
Hey - just making a video on this. You can check out my *NON CODER* Building SaaS using AI Series. Will be clearly doing videos on creating a Database on either AWS/Firebase/MongoDB.
Great work! I’m a mechanical design engineer by background and recently began building my own app by following no-code tutorials like yours. Your videos are incredibly informative-keep it up! SCAMMER BRO. BUILD SOMETHING REAL USING AI. DON'T SCAM BRO.
These are nowhere near sear engine, search engine are supposed to show websites and articles, these are just showing information, it will not replace search engine nah
You're right. But it's good for consolidated research. It's definitely more of a curation tool only - I mean - remember when there was an option to use GPTs in ChatGPT - there was a Web Search GPT which was essentially what this is right now.

Give me the right subreddit to post it. And I shall do the honors.
There are some flaws with the perspective shown here. Most serious developers know that the bar to entry to code is seriously low. Maybe not low enough that every layman knows how, but low enough that it is a tiny fraction of what they have needed to go through. If all you wanted to do was figure out the basics of how to set up a basic website as what a layman would need, then you could probably do it within a week. There were people who did this in the past and that is a thing. It has been done so much that a lot of code available for AI training are the kind of code made by those without all that much training (partially because they tend to put a lot of training projects up for show, which the data collection for AIs can then find). That also means that the code the AI is trained to make will in a sense be compariable to that code. The thing to understand is that most actual profesional positions do not really accept people at that level of programming, for the simple reason that it is just so low quality compared to what else they can get. Most profesionals have moved so far beyond that level that they do not feel treated by them. It is kind of like a profesional athlete not feeling threated (in the short term) by there being a sudden rise in the popularity of their spot at the school level, those people are not really compete with them anyway, at least not until much later when they become much more experienced, and for AI users that just does not work the same way. Another thing to understand is that AI is litterally built to trick you, because that is how you train such an AI. You have it generate samples and the variantions that makes you least likely to notice they were wrong are the ones chosen. Having code that is hard to notice it is wrong is terrible, because that makes it harder and harder to find bugs, and more and more likely that bugs will sneak their way into production. For a lot of applications such bugs can cause huge issues, with examples like letting your site be hacked , the entire thing not working or doing something other than what you expected (how would you like it if your webshop ended up transfering money the wrong way on purchases, because it switched up two words somewhere and you did not notice it). Now one might argue that it having less shown faults would indicate that there really was less bugs in it, but we also know that generative AI is perfectly happy passing up entirely fake things as real, and the way they are built is based on trying to guess the pattern of how things would look if someone said it rather than being based on there being logic in what they tell you. A way to understand how current AI works is that it is a master of telling you "I think I read somewhere that said something like X", where X is its response. Basically it runs on a kind of instictual gut feeling of memory. That means it can do a lot of things, but it also means you cannot trust it to have reached its results based on consistent logic. There are a lot of places where that is not that important, but in a few fields like in Engineering, Computer Science, and Law that logical process is not optional, and not following it can have servere consequences.
You raise some excellent points, especially around the limitations of AI and the need for consistent logic in fields where even small errors can have significant consequences. It's true that current AI models often operate on pattern recognition rather than rigorous logic, and this can indeed lead to subtle yet potentially critical issues in complex applications. However, AI can still offer valuable support, especially when it's used thoughtfully as a tool rather than a replacement. In many cases, AI-generated code can handle routine tasks and offer a quick starting point, freeing up experienced developers to focus on more complex, high-stakes work that requires deep understanding and logical rigor. Also, as AI models evolve, there’s potential for these tools to improve in logic and consistency, especially as training methods and datasets are refined. But I agree that, as it stands, careful oversight by skilled professionals is essential for any high-stakes applications. Ultimately, AI in coding may not yet be a threat to seasoned developers, but it can be a powerful assistant-so long as we stay aware of its limitations and apply it thoughtfully.
The best usecase for AI for coding at the moment is as a form of strong autocompletion for smaller parts to boilerplate areas. I would recommend keeping it away from any actual business logic. Another reasonable but less good usecase is as an inspiration source, similar to how you would otherwise search online. As long as you can find a decent result you are probably going to have a superior result with searching online, but you might get there faster with generative AI. Ultimately the AI is just trying to replicate the knowledge that you could search up online, but it ends up with extra flaws in the process, which is the price you pay for that speed. Using generative AI directly for the code of business logic is like playing with fire. You might be able to have it work out for you for a while, but you should expect to get burned eventually. Even if bugs are not all that critical, you still run into the issue that you are trying to optimize the relatively cheap part of developing --- the step of actually writing the code down, as opposed to all the other things related to developing which all also take up considerable amount of time, and which is where you pay for doing that. Basically you tend up with a net loss of time once you include the time needed to handle bugs and such from the shorted time to write down the code itself. It should be telling that the productivity of a typically developer has little to do with optimizing writing time (with loc output tending to stay mostly constant), but rather a bunch of other things around it that causes the net amount of time to get to the end result to go down, and that the amount of time such a change can make can be an entire order of magnitude. It should be note that while logically such AI should not be threatening such developers, those higher up in management might not understand that logic and make decisions based on the assumptions that they can be replaced. Those decisions are expect to hurt them, but that takes time to happen, as management is not exactly that quick on picking up on stupid decisions that are causing them huge losses. This means that it does have a weird effect on the job-market for such developers. Weirdly enough the logical part is that it is likely going to end up making it much more costly to get highly skilled developers, as AI is going to more compete with the entry level code monkey style jobs, which in turn means that there are going to be less new developers and as such have to pay a higher and higher price on the squeezed population of highly skilled developers. If you looking at the entrace to development, I highly recommend not going the heavy AI route, for the simply reason that it is going to get in your way of learning, the same way as if you use a calculator for all your math. Sure it will give you the result, but you are not going to get the same training and understanding that was the purpose of solving those problems in the first place, and not having that understanding means that you do not have a good understanding of the building blocks for the next layer of understanding, which means you end up getting increasingly lost and face some kind of wall you cannot figure out to cross, while in reality you could have walked all the way there if you bothered to actually take each step at a time instead of just going for the easy solution.
