The BEST Sandworm Build in the Game! Mechabellum Composition Guide
It's always the Hacker's fault.
Any reason you didn't go explosive ammo on tarantula, to deal with crawlers
My opponent had picked the elite hacker card early on, so I didn't want to commit further into tarantulas. By the time loose formation was clicked I was already out of spiders. Ideally I would have had mustangs a bit earlier as a counter to loose formation
@RoosterUA-cam Ahh that makes sense
Thanks for all the educational content man, really nice to know your thought process in this game. Which Unit i like mostly depends on wich side of the board they are^^
I love this video! I love it, when I do not know whos winning before watching till the end, i love the replayfeature, and i think you have a very nice way of doing your commentary. Its really rare to listen so cringe-free, well done 😊
Great game. Sprinkling in the occasional loss is great form! Those who only post wins can seem like it's more an exercise of stroking their ego than showcasing intriguing games... Loving hearing your thoughts (and use of replay feature) evaluating the loss as that's often where the best insights are found. Bravo!🔥
Foonz
How do you counter Phantom Spam? It feels like they have all the tech that they need to counter their counters. Armor tech for Mustangs, Typhoons, Fang, and lower level wasps. Burst tech to counter AA missiles (I also noticed in testing grounds that they double the Phantoms' DPS). Stealth to soft-counter units that outrange and even more damage. Shields to soft-counter high damage dealers, with equal level marksmen now needing 4 shots instead of 2 to kill a single Phantom. I just encountered someone who overwhelmed me using Phantom spam and I spent 2 rounds fumbling around trying to come up with a hard counter.
The best counter to phantom is going to be overlords. Wasps with range + AA also destroy them, but they are more vulnerable to things like fortress AA and mustangs. Farseer are great too, especially with the missile interceptor tech. In general though, overlords remain the best and mothership can create chaff which will distract the phantoms for a long time.
The daily Mechabellum lesson thanks for that. I reached 2000 mmr recently and your advice sure helped.
I play that way always but I still suck lmao. I try bait them into going for mass air or I try to pretend I'm not going for mass air for as long as possible
In future videos can you replay the last round as the opponent to show to beat your winning hand? It would be really helpful
in a game of deception and counters, how can a guy be so successful simply always spamming boats?
Woot does a great job at playing both sides of the board and pivoting between them. There is value in that and the fact he knows the limits of his strategy like no other
I would love to see a Rooster v Rat game commentated!
RAT sadly does not play as much anymore, so I haven't played against him in a while. I think he has uploaded a game of us on his channel in the past tho!

1:10 "Spiders are good into Tarantula"
Can we talk about how vulvan oil and fire is just impossible to stop with anti missile
Ya, Rooster invested a lot into anti missile, and the board was STILL completely on fire in the first 5 seconds. He was just able to contain the fire to his opponents side.
For one Vulcan with only incendiary bombs you need two AM devices and a saber is roughly 0.6 AM device (it's the worst in the game, then you have farseer which is 0.8 AM device). So you'd need 4 Sabers for only one Vulcan and theoretically you'd need 7 or 8 Sabers if that Vulcan has oil bombs on top of that. Now imagine multiple vulcans with double tech and other missiles in the air... AM Saber is only good ad reducing damage, not preventing fire or negating Stormcallers.
@@aiugiamos3057 oof! That is a lot of AM devices. Makes sense why people typically build shields instead of trying to intercept.
1:12 „spiders are very good into tarantula“ - Rooster 😂😂
Oops 🤣 Spiders are very good into sledgehammers is what I meant to say 🤪
12:29 Rooster: “But I have some of them left on the right” Mustangs on the right: got killed immediately Rooster: “And there’re 2 that’s sitting just out of fire” Mustangs out of fire: roll into the fire 😂😂😂
Elite spec would have been salivating at double light manufacturing. That had to be quite the fun game to play all those cheap units haha
I tried hard to make carry wasp work a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't consider HE over ground spec. Do you think it's strong enough to go without improved wasp? Because dropping jump drive is such a huge opportunity cost.
I think playing this setup without improved wasp is quite challenging (remains extremely vulnerable to fortress AA and mustangs, not to mention the lack of dmg to kill big targets). The build is indeed very heavily focused on the carry wasp build, and you have to give up the flexibility of jump drive and of something like shield for chaff.
Wonder how ranged multi melter wouldve done. Since he already got the melters for some reason.
Saber anti missiles are so bad... I also have a feeling a-m does not work against the firebombs. There's still fire everywhere, just not so far on your side. I feel like any other tech on the sabers would have been better, no?
The fire is from the napalm from the badgers
@@felixbeaudouin1899 I've had a few games where I tried a-m against vulcain missiles, there was no napalm, no firebadgers and still fire landed everywhere on the board. It feels like shooting down the vulcain missiles still causes the fire to fall where the missiles were shot.
Yeah saber antimissile is among the weakest interception techs. It's still decent to stop damage from callers, farseer and phantoms. In this case, I was simply planning to buy more of them so it didn't seem a bad investment.
@RoosterUA-cam Ya, you could drop 5 a turn for cheap... Who needs Sledge Hammers when you can just make a firing line of Sabers? xD
AM from the saver is roughly 0.6 AM device and you need at least 2 really well placed AM devices to block just one incendiary OR oil Vulcan.
For the second game, I felt like Wise had too many half measures against the worm and not enough commitment. The phoenix with range weren't really pulling their weight, but maybe if they got charged shot or elite on them they would have. The Saber's could have done much more with the investment of just 100 credits for doubleshot, but with only 2 I see they didn't want to make that investment. The Balls were doing pretty good. But now they are the third unit type to fight the worms. In the end, too many units without techs. I feel like they needed more focus. But those Wasps were definitely hard to beat.
Thank You. I give it a try :)
I suppose the only other real answer to this is probably arclight AA if you have levels on the arclights - but it's still a big investment to counter, and it'd get stymied the same way by sandstorm in the long term. I have to imagine just picking fort + AA is always going to work best, especially if they take it early. Also has the benefit of dropping more giants which helps seal games early if you win a swingy round with a bunch of units left over.
AA Fortress is the real answer when opponent going into carry Wasp. Even level 1 can swat a lot of wasps with barrage, unless opponent bring a shield tech. Instead of spamming Mustangs, it's better to spend some money on forts.
Agree. Surely a couple of forts with missiles would already cut out a bunch of wasps (and hence DPS). Once wasps are maybe really, really high level or have shields maybe that's not enough, but iirc it's like 900dmg per missile which is still enough to kill upgraded wasps since there's some AOE and the missiles tend to hit the same general area a couple of times.
@@jordanb722 the problem with aa fort is that if you have improved wasp it's easy to put pantom rays or wraits in front to tank the barrages. And then you hard loose until you unlock (multi)melter
The Return of the King!! I'm so glad the wasp is viable again, I really enjoyed that meta :)
how do you deal with elite, small unit discount, and deployment? you dont
How much exp do leveled Units give? From what I understand, a unit drops double its normal purchase price in exp (normal Arclight would drop 200 exp) but it feels like leveled units give a LOT more exp. Does it scale the same way stats due? So level two Archlite gives 400 exp? Also, how is exp shared? is it split between everyone who did damage with some kind of ratio based on how much damage each unit did? That's how it has felt, but I never actually got into the research to learn for real.
Great question! You are correct that leveled units give more than double the base experience. xp rewarded is double the initial unit cost, where each additional level adds double the initial unit xp. So sniper level 1 gives 200 xp, and level 3 gives 1000 xp (200 + 400 + 400). As for the experience share, when a unit kills an enemy unit, it receives 50% of its xp value + 1/x of the other 50% (where x is the amount of units who got an assist on the enemy unit). So damage doesn't matter, simply whether or not in assisted in taking the unit down. If a unit dies to a spell, then its experience is divided evenly across all enemy units alive. Cards (e.g. mass produced) do not affect how much xp a unit grants.
@RoosterUA-cam Awesome! I think managing my Exp and my opponents Exp is the roadblock to my current progress. I am hovering around 1800-2000 MMR. I think this is exactly what I need to start paying attention to if I want to get better. Thank you for the explainer!
Yo big Roostie! Been bingeing your videos. They're very good! My preference would be for no spoilers in title or video (even vague ones). I'm trying to place your accent... sounds like... Ireland, but not very strong. Maybe NI? Isle of Man? Thanks anyway
Thanks for the kind message! What do you mean exactly by spoilers? (I pretty much only upload wins so the outcome is hardly ever a surprise😅) As for my accent, I am Dutch. Learned English through Jacksepticeye videos on UA-cam (probably the Irish influence you hear) and had a British English teacher in college. Combine that with 5 years of studying in English at university + American movie influence and you get... well, this😆
Pleeeeease don't put spoilers in the titles...
Hello Rooster. I would argue that having a level 4 elite + range arclight shoot at chaff is not an efficient way to chaff clear. When they become this strong you can get cheaper chaff clear and transition them to stronger Dps with Charged shot
Elite spec is, well, elite for the 100 cost units when you plan on playing carry with them.
+1
+1
Trying to force Mustang instead of going for Phoenix right off the bat was a major mistake.
by the oppo? going phx into mustangs? not the best idea. although i kinda agree that i dont see any use in mustangs for him
Is it that you "feel more comfortable playing agro" or that agro is just better? I dont see anyone above 2000 MMR playing standard anymore. Agro has far too many options and potential for tempo. Agro is boring to me so i climbed to top 100 in 501 and now have been doing 2v2 only
@@EssDubz I think aggro and standard are both equally competitive play styles at the moment. There are players like Flower Fairy (#1 world) who almost exclusively play standard. Top players like Red hair, n_sacco, B-man, Mathismight (to name a few) are often playing standard as well. The reason many people (including me) play aggro is because standard is very prone to mirrors, which can be difficult to manoeuvre and/or turn around once a player gets ahead. Aggro forces an imbalance and will result in less mirrors, giving both players more options overall. I also know that I am a worse standard player than the people I mentioned above, so I tend to play to my strengths.
@RoosterUA-cam maybe I need to learn standard better since I see nothing but agro in my games 1900-2150 mmr. Haven't been able to crack elite levels yet. I just find agro has the pick of what they want to do and standard has to try to predict and also deal with round 1 asymmetry which almost always works against them
@@EssDubz You are right that aggro tends to be ahead early (which is the upside of playing asymmetrical). However, showing your hand early also means that the opponent has plenty of time to mount their defense (losing a couple rounds before stabilising doesn't matter if you win in the end). Aggro is weak to spells like oil as it cannot shield on the defender's side and will often have poorly defended towers which can be attacked. Aggro/Defense games are certainly more complicated than standard (long-range) games, at least in the sense that there are more variables. More units are playable, unit drops can provide immediate answers to problems (or not), spells may favour the aggressor or the defender. Card RNG is a bigger factor in these games than in standard. Getting to grips with all the different scenarios is something that only comes with experience, which takes time. I like that part though, as it keeps things interesting with a variety of available tactics. (P.S. I don't mind defending when I know I will get pushed. I just try to avoid the standard mirrors where possible)
Stormcallers with EMP/HE would be better answer for his slow defensive comp?
@@letir7561 Stormcallers would probably have been my next addition if I started losing rounds! The shield break and pseudo-chaff clear would fill some of the roles I was lacking
Interesting, thanks for sharing, keep it up, i love it :)

does portable shield item on the typhoon stack with the shield tech?
Yes. The portable shield is an energy shield (which is for the unit itself only) while the shield tech is a barrier, which is a field around it. You can tell the difference visually.
Hi rooster. Can you explain why you went with rocket on the typhoon please?
onya brother, great vid.
