The level of transcendence in this track is just beyond words... I compare it to Maggot Brain, it's just full of emotions, and both songs are so similar in that regard and even the arpeggiated chords in the background... It's just a lovely track to ponder about life or to just take a step back and let it do the talking. This is amazing how K.K. and Glenn stepping back when Rob starting to sing, letting Ians' juicy bass and Alan's cymbals to accent that unbelievably crystal clear voice. Making the whole impression even more intense, to unbelievably sharp. One of the rare songs when Ian was able to show what he can do and lead the song. Run of the Mill probably my other most favorite Ian's masterpiece song.

Got into Holdsworth in the late 70's, early 80's. Bought up everything I could find - Bruford, JLP, Gong, Soft Machine. Road Games, IOU, cassette of the Tempest record. Saw him at dinner clubs. Met him several times, had my pic taken with him at the Carvin booth at NAMM. Still have the GP mags, learned to mimic him on guitar but I could never actually play his music. >>SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME STORY! It's amazing how much of an impression he left.

Is it Allan all the way through? Totally Allan in the big solo but the start and end parts sound different. A song could not be more beautiful than this.

Holy $#@ man. I'm a bass player and played a lot of Pat Travers tunes, but I can't hang with this one. Fantastic job!

Mars was incredible...definitely made the top 3 or 4 of my list of bass players. I've met Pat Travers, but unfortunately never got to meet Mars. I always felt he was extremely underrated. I used to play this tune daily on my bass. Love the funky feel. His style is hard to emulate, but you did a fantastic job!

Another transcendent solo from Holdsworth, but all the more special with Hansford Rowe holding down the bass and Vic Stevens on drums.

Damn. Even for the standards of Holdsworth this is a pretty amazing solo. Not sure if this is his greatest since there are so many but maybe it is.

Just started a search to see what Mars Cowling was upto and discovered he died over 4 years ago.Gutted. Then came across your cover though of a bass line I thought wasn't possible to work out. Incredible playing, may now be able to work out this legendary/mythical bass line from your video. Great tribute many thanks.

I love this song. One of the many times I saw him was at the Paramount in Seattle. We were in the lobby of tie talking to people ( not knowing they had come to the stage) when they began playing this. I ran up the stairs to my seat to not miss it. His shows were always wonderful. Being from a family of musicians. We marveled at what we were hearing.
