    This is a great approach but at the same time these are very “all the stars aligned” type scenarios. Its gonna be very very hard to find a 1. Smaller company with grand prospects 2. While currently being qualified with the specific skill set needed 3. At a position that puts you at the right place to climb 4. At the right time to come in and blow it up like this is saying. Sure it’s 100% possible, but this is a suuuuper specific situation that the average person will never even have the chance to approach.

      I would say entrepreneurship trumps this plan simply because more things rely on you and your personal pathway. Less relies on timing and a framework someone put together and more is reliant on you, your current skills, and your personal application on your own time. Then you don’t have to hit the nail on the head, and your career can be flexible to you and want you want to achieve. The only person or thing that can get in the way would be yourself and your own decisions.

    Dude.... peel and stick tiles are absolutely atrocious... If you're trying to do a bathroom floor, learn to tile. Its not at all hard, looks 1000x better, and will last longer than 6 months, unlike peel and stick "tile".

    Great advice! My grands started out very modest. They didn’t buy anything unless the old one had died. Like appliances, furniture, household updates, etc. Pappaw kept his old 70’s something Dodge pickup that still runs. But he & grandma also had a minivan for trips. He would go to the dealership & make them find one that had the least amount of buttons as possible. He said it was just something to tear up. They would spend weeks & sometimes months finding one to suit him. He’d buy it with cash. But as soon as the warranty was out he was trading it in and getting another new one. He would say, now days cars are too hard to work on and he’s too old. He started out after serving in WW2 in the Navy, as a school teacher & my grandma a secretary. He wasn’t there long before he got the post master where he lived & retired from. Grandma worked at Borden’s as their secretary till she retired. She always had the best ice cream! They each invested in stocks & bonds. Their fav were AAA bonds which don’t exist anymore. After my pappaw passed away & I met their financial advisor he told me whatever my pappaw touched was gold. He said he quit advising him a long time ago. Whatever pappaw wanted to buy he bought too. He misses out once when Dollar General was starting out. Pappaw told him to buy despite his advisor telling him how many Walmarts, dollar trees, family dollars, etc. there are. Another one won’t make it. He said biggest mistake of his career because pappaw made bank! In addition to that they & my pappaws sister & husband all went in together & bought a 400 acre tree farm. They paid someone to plant 200 acres then wait 10 years then plant the other 200 acres. They took bids on the lumber at first till they found one good loyal customer. It took 20 years for the trees to mature enough. Their customer would come & log the trees themselves. Then they paid someone to grind up all the stumps, till the ground, & replant those 200 acres. That way they didn’t have to touch it but collected a payout every 10 years. And pappaw had 200 acres in a what became a prime location for subdivisions. He had cows as long as I can remember. He said they were just a hobby but he went to the sale enough I know he was making some money on them. He kept what he had to leave to his boys. They had multiple streams of income. They also had their money, his money, & her money. Pappaw said he paid the house payment, insurances, repairs, and utilities. Grandma paid for the my dad & uncles clothes & shoes. She paid for what she needed & Pappaw’s clothes. What each had left after that was theirs. Pappaw said he paid more because he made more. They learned to live on a frugal income. You’d think they were poor. No brand names except Maytag appliances & a Dodge vehicle only! Btw, I still have the large Maytag deep freezer from the 60’s! Hasn’t missed a lick! I’m terrified I’ll fill it up and it will die forcing me to buy a new one. Back then if you bought the best I’d lasted forever. They retired early in their early 50’s & traveled. Pappaw couldn’t stay put longer than 4 to 6 weeks & he’d bug her till they left on another trip. And they stayed in hotels that were clean & up to date but on the less expensive side. They ate out pretty modest but did enjoy at least supper out. Nothing fancy though. Their lifestyle & smart investing afforded them an early retirement & the things they wanted to do. I just wish they had shared all of that with me growing up. When I’d ask my pappaw to teach me what to do & how he did it, he’d just say just watch the stock market everyday. That’s what I did. At the time early 20’s we didn’t know I’ve had adhd my whole life so that was like him telling me to read a novel in Greek. It ain’t happening! I wish I had his knowledge! His financial advisor, because I told him I don’t know anything about investing, used to be an instructor in college so he disappeared & came back with a book in his hand. He hands it to me & says this pretty much sums up a good foundation in a way most people can easily understand. I said ok thank you I’ll get that one trying to hand him his book back. He wouldn’t take it and said I’ve pretty much got it memorized & I don’t need it anymore. I thanked him and he winked at me & said maybe you’ll have your Pappaws Midas touch. I’m still learning. I haven’t tried myself yet. My dad so far does my trading for me. He’s a natural and in this economy has made me a nice amount especially when I hear others saying they have lost money. He’s almost doubled what I had in 2 years. I do worry about the economy & I’m still conflicted on what to do, exactly when to do it, but praying I don’t have to. I wish I’d known my grands way of handling money when I first got married. I didn’t know till my grams passed 2 years ago at age 100. We can draw social security at retirement if it still exists. We both have retirement funds. We have money coming from his parents they spent their lifetime saving for him. And he has a business where he’s booked 9 months out of the year every weekend solid. He also works part time on Friday nights dispatching for our local 911. He’s done is full time job 31 years & his part time for the last 26 years. He’s had his business for 2 years now. He’s already booking up thru Dec. 2025. He charges a lot less than his competitors but has top notch professional equipment. We don’t have the streams of income they had but we have a decent amount right now. If the economy can recover we should be able to enjoy life a little when we retire. Otherwise, who knows! 😂

      @@LarossaConstruction ok, maybe that was a bit harsh. I understand that you don’t want to over do it for the neighborhood/comps. I guess I just don’t understand what you spent 75k on to still end up with chipping countertops, mismatched cabinets, mismatched floors, no edging on the mulch, 0 tile work, wood paneling walls, etc… maybe you could do a break down on what cost 75k on this house?

    • @LarossaConstruction
      @LarossaConstruction 9 днів тому

      No problem. 3 things led to a 75K budget that left me with a subpar house. 1) A really crappy house in the first place - Basically all new MEP systems plus a new sewer line to city sewer, 2) Mismanagement - trying to repair things that should have been torn out in the first place. For example 3K spent on Plumbing before deciding to just tear it all out (or most). 3) Vandals - This project took too long and sat vacant during certain portions. People came in and tore stuff up and stole. More than once. Could all of that have been prevented? Yep! Also the reality of RE investing.
