I think both sides are being ridiculous. The FIA can't moderate team radio, it's there to add to the entertainment, but is effectively like listening in on a private conversation. They can't expect that it will be family friendly, as long as they can bleep out swear words I don't think it's an issue. I also don't think it's unreasonable for the governing body of a sport to expect highly paid, professional drivers to avoid swearing during press conferences. Although trying to immediately punish him seems like unnecessary escalation. He's a grown man, he should by now understand that there are circumstances when swearing is appropriate and others when it isn't. If this were an issue that came about because of a comment on team radio I would agree with him, but this just seems childish and unprofessional on his part.

The FIA should stick to its job of enforcement of rules and regulations that have to do with racing ie the condition/layout of the tracks, car and driver safety, fan safety, and popularity and growth of motorsports. If I were a driver I would demand that the team appoint a spokesperson for me and never speak in public to the press / public again.
