3 KEY Areas That RESTRICT Your Golf Swing
If you struggle to turn in your golf swing, the chances are you have limited flexibility and mobility in one or more of these 3 key areas. These are the hips, the thoracic spine and the shoulders. These areas are responsible for the rotation in you swing and restrictions in these key areas can negatively impact your swing.
In the video I take you through 3 simple exercises you can do to improve the mobility of these areas. You can do these from home, at a gym as part of your workout or as part of your warm-up routine. Doing them on a regular basis will help you get a bigger turn in your golf swing and take stress off the body.

Thanks for this, Inclined push video are rare, most video about push ups i found are regular push up. Im a beginner.
Thanks, I'm pleased you found it helpful
I'd like to see someone do a proper deep dive into the data to see the best strategy for 15 handicappers and above. For us guys and girls I think keeping it in play is the prime motive off the tee. So long as your 3rd shot (assuming a par4) allows you a realistic chance of getting it on the green somewhere near the flag to make a 2 putt, net par. It's interesting, I love decade golf and I'm not suggesting your info isn't correct for better players but I've found my golf is considerably more consistent when I take 7w off most tees, and make sure to just keep the ball in play. I can shoot 88 to 92 by doing that easily. When I bring the driver out more often I can shoot 82 but I can also shoot 98.
Do you keep any strokes gained statistics? This should give you a clear indication of how many strokes you are gaining or losing with driver v 7w for your handicap and he'll choose the best strategy for your level. DECADE isn't a one size fits all approach or handicap bias, it's more a framework for making consistently better decisions. Knowing your individual strokes gained data I believe, is essential for all golfers to help maximise their scoring.
Amazing yardages !!!
How many sets for each exercise? 2-3?
Yeah between 2-4 depending on your training experience. Start low and aim to increase over the weeks
Too much on your heels though, want to be pushing through midfoot
@@jssmall19 what's the rationale ?

The tip with the kettlebell makes crazy sense. I've watched literally half a dozen videos on how to hip hinge and they rarely explained it adequately. They all made it look like it was just bending over. But giving the tip of using the kettlebell in line with the heels makes so much sense because it gives your hands something to "target" so I know the rest of my body is falling in line properly.
Thanks, I'm pleased you found it helpful
Awesome video Sam and I bought the force pedals as a result of it! Do you have an existing video using the force pedals to explain loading up correctly in the backswing as well. Love your stuff pity your not based in Melbourne Australia 😊
Thanks John. Would you be interested in some online coaching via Skilliest? In terms of your question, I don't have anything specifically with the force pedal yet but do have the following:

Fantastic explanation... It is my number one issue. Thanks. Do you give video lessons? I am in the US...
Thanks. Yes I can do online analysis and feedback via coachnow. Also looking at setting up on Skilliest. Drop me an email at svgolfperformance@outlook.com and I can help more.
No sound dude.
I think it must be your end as the audio is fine our end.
That’s really interesting, particularly as you describe that working with training aids and drills may take ‘time to transfer’. Knowing that an outcome may be the sequence being thrown out, even temporarily, needs to be reflected in when and how you practice and how you assess the shots that follow. Thank you 🙏
Very helpful
I tried it, skulled that ball right over the green.
🫣 keep practicing
Your videos are sensational Sam!
Thanks John, the feedback is really appreciated.
Useful. At 4.42 you refer to ' this video here' , but there isn't a link ?
Hi Steve, can you try again as it is showing up now.
@@svgolfperformanceyes see it now thanks
Great video Sam. Does the Downshift Board help with early extension? Thanks
Great question. In short, it can and often does. However, the main cause of EE is how the hands and club are moving in transition, so this has to be connected and develop with a better pressure shift for you to stop the movement. I've a video come out soon that Will explain this in more detail.
Great video, keep these coming, helping my swing go from strength to strength
Very useful illustration of how to test at home pressure vs mass shift!
Nope I don't need it, just want it
Another precisely described effective drill for increasing clubhead speed using both the upper body and lower body simultaneously. This is gold people.
Thanks again for the support David
8:55 This is one of the best golf instructional videos I have seen over the past 50 years. I expect anyone who follows Mr. Vickers’ approach, or better yet, takes instruction from him, will very quickly lower their handicap if they have normal coordination! Well done sir!

If you're going to do this you need to learn the rule of 12. It's pretty easy to learn.

Naturally, it depends on your strength and training experience. I'd suggest trying with a KB under 10kg first and go from there.
Thanks!

Best swing on UA-cam for me
Don't tell Bryson 😅
Just started watching I think paddy 👍⛳️
My swing is great when I don't have a ball in front of me.
I see this a lot with golfers of all levels. In my experience, this can often be because the golfer is moving with different ground force when there is a ball there which completely changes their swing movement. This suggests that the intention and practise drill/feel isn't right for what they are intending to improve.
The force plate data and graphs are very helpful for both coach and client. It makes it easier to identify what needs work and which drill can help. Then in the follow up session there will be clear evidence that the work done has been effective by comparing the stats. The ball doesn’t always tell the whole story but the stats don’t lie. I recommend booking a session with Sam to see what your graph looks like, so you are working on the right stuff 👍
🙏
The missing info is what iron is used. 7, 8, 9 or even a Pw. People posting instructions should realize for what audiences do you make the instruction and be complete.
The focus is on the action that creates the launch and spin being different to a standard lofted shot. The aim here is to play around with this to find what works best for the individual.
Totally agree! I almost have this move, it’s taken quite a long time. I’m slightly off balance in the finish so need to get back up and out of the ground more quickly and more vertically. With club in hand it’s adding 30yds !! Great work Sam👏. Now I just have to…… 1. Convince my PGA coach that THIS is the MOST IMPORTANT thing in my swing now 2. Prepare for a round more effectively so I can access this in the first few holes rather than half way round 🥴.
Great work Lynn. I agree on point 2 but if you're having to convince your coach with point 1, then it's the wrong way around 😅
@@svgolfperformance Agree with that too 👍
Thanks Sam, great content. What weight medicine/slam ball would you recommend to maintain the effectiveness of the drill? I have an 8kg slam ball but not sure if I'm a bit optimistic at age 69 and perhaps should go lighter.
A good rule of thumb is 5% your bodyweight. 8kg is quite heavy for most people, however, sometimes when the ball is heavier, this does promote using the ground more effectively because you can't just use your arms like you could with a lighter ball. I hope that helps 😁
@@svgolfperformance Ok thanks Sam.
I think his landing on the box is not correct. Hé is landing on a flat foot and not amortising thé shock.
@zehravigna4873 that is the exact purpose of utilising the box, to significantly reduce any landing force based on not landing from any forceful height. Naturally this type of landing wouldn't be coached if landing on the floor instead
Amazing tool, surely a game changer for everyone!
They are already helping many players make positive change
look forward to this

So the decision making process relating to the approach shot is key here? You are taking everything into account having done homework and knowing your ability and you base your approach shot, target and club selection on your best chance of the zero or lowest number miss possible?
In essence yes. Naturally this will often mean aiming towards the middle of a green often but this will help you gain more on the hole. On the whole, just hitting more greens in regulation is key to lower scores, regardless if you're 40ft away. Then when you do miss, it's trying not to leave yourself no green to work as getting down in a maximum of 3 shots will increase significantly.
Thank you. Medal today so will give this some consideration when making approach shot decisions, the best choice being the one than best avoids finishing in the most costly place. Got it 👍.

So good to watch this following my On Course Strategy session with you. There is loads of shot saving information to take on board and it’s helpful to watch it a few times. The shot pattern app makes it easier to make good decisions, taking the emotion out and committing to the decision. Thanks Sam my handicap is finally coming down!
Great work Lynn. You're smashing it
I had a Course Strategy Session with Sam last week, 9 holes around The Bracken at Woodhall Spa. He’d recommended Shot Pattern app and I trust his judgement so had signed up the night before. The session itself was excellent, Sam really knows his stuff and explains it so well. Shot Pattern app visually supported what he was saying in terms of shot choice and target selection on each hole. He also gave so much great advice on other variables like lie and conditions and avoiding the big misses. I’ve used the app twice on my home course since and seen strokes gained jump up already! It’s changed my understanding of how to play the game. Inputting the round afterwards is easy and it’s mapped for the Red tees too! I have struggled for years with when or when not to use Driver and making these more informed decisions has given me the confidence I need to make the right choice and execute the shot. I can’t recommend a Course Strategy Session with Sam enough and the app is the best I’ve used by far. So much excellent data! Sam will be swimming in it 🤣. I will report the stats so that he has a much better understanding of what goes wrong on the course so what needs work. Thanks guys 🙏
Thanks for the review Lynn. You are smashing the strategy focus.
Awesome explanation, Sam!! This is gold!
Thanks and made all the better with your great app
This video is a great reminder of thinking strategy. I am definitely guilty of hitting my driver on holes where I have no chance of carrying the bunkers. I will try playing to avoid them next time I play. Should be good for short game practice !
Thanks Andree, I'm pleased you found it useful.
Looking forward to trying out this strategy, planning ahead to take those bunkers out of play will save lots of stress and shots!
