My family just applied in Italy through a laywer and we were in formed that it will tile 1 year and 1/2 for a judge to view our documents. I have to inform that all documents had to be officially translated and all the docs from our parents and grandparents had to be officially linked. A very prescient video considering the October 3rd directive on minor cases. The additional response by the court seems to address two separate issues: 1) automatic recognition of JM even when the marriage was not registered contemporaneously in the commune, and 2) a man can acquiring citizenship via an Italian woman -- which has not traditionally been recognized as a valid path to Italian citizenship. I will trust that is possible to cite part 1 of the opinion as precedent independent of part 2, especially since most cases will involve the already settled path of an Italian man transmit citizenship to his wife. Are you of the option that based on how the judge responded to the first issue that it would apply to marriages further up the line whereas this case only concerned the marriage of the applicant's parents?

You can get citizenship after three years with an ERV (Elective Residency Visa) the retiree Visa, through naturalization. Usually it takes 10 years with an ERV but since your line was broken (minor case) you can apply for citizenship through Naturalization after 3 years of residency in Italy. It is important to understand that you must LIVE IN ITALY to be naturalized with an ERV. Easier and less expensive way of pursuing Citizenship.
