Great show gunnie
I love how everyone chimed in on their “poncho”. I keep my original poncho from us cavalry days, 30 years ago - as good as new - it has saved my butt more times than ANYTHING else! Thanks for sharing this conversation… good to hear what others find important in crisis situations.
Keep up the good work Gunnie!

You say MY panels, my controller, my voltage…. as of some how it’s yours.
That's because I purchased all these and installed them all myself. So, yeah, they are mine.
Looks very inspirational, thank you for all the great content and also keeping the length of the videos reasonable, not like one and a half hour marathons. The switches to disconnect the solar panels might need a bit of strict rules in how to disconnect, especially when NOT TO DISCONNECT. Those kind of battery switches are usually max. 48 V, and very easily the solar voltages are way beyond 100 Volts. Correct me if I am wrong: Seems the MPPT are Helios branded, that can have max. 150 V open circuit voltage from the solar panels. Being close to that voltage and having a load through the switches might easily produce a scenario that if one tries to disconnect solar by the switch, then it won't actually disconnect, instead a high voltage DC-arc forms and it starts a quick fire from the switch, as the temperature of the arc is super high - actually that high, that the air itself becomes electrically very conductive, an accidental plasma torch can be created. To increase safety, better to disconnect solar only when the Sun is down, or to replace the PV switches with high enough DC voltage rating. Those have a special arc-extinction chamber, that allows a safe disconnect, even when the high voltage load is on. You probably already know this and are not planning too high voltages, but I wanted to give this heads up, as some of the viewers might build something similar and this definitely needs to be taken into consideration. Blessed be, keep up the good work. <3 Greetings from cool Finland from a humble electrical and automation engineering student.
Great feedback, thank you! Yes, the switches are indeed 48V rated, so I will probably have to look at replacing those for sure. An improvement opportunity. :) Sharp eye, thanks again!
you are very optimistic using such big cables to that BMS. Most china BMS, should be used not to the top (so if you have 200A, use 100A) for a 100a a cable of 16mm2 would be sufficient, you have it i guess 35?
Great show fellas. 👍
concerned: someone stole my cell, associated with my social media. Despite I have my SIM CARD FOR THE NUMBER...They locked me out of most....up loads are impossible...so....this is where my concerns arrive..😘
Or is this a SPIN OFF of #thecanadianprepper ???

Ouch, those Ford comments hurt my feelings 🤣🤣
Hello. I’m excited for the Dr. Joe and Amy show!.
Sorry I missed your show fellas, was busy with the arctic coming south. Good show .
really hopeless photography. What's the point of demonstrating how tools work by just showing the handles moving. I left after the hydraulic crimper.
I agree with you, and my apologies for that. I tried to redeem myself here ua-cam.com/video/K-pjqTv0914/v-deo.html
I love my NOCO boost pack. 👍
Great piece of kit, well worth the investment! :)
Excellent setup.
haven't considered carrying an off-hand folder until now. Good tips, thanks!
1:01 ... Belt kits are good to have..You can use it as an emergency tourniquet..Self defense weapon....Binding things ....and holding up yer pants..LOL 1:29... It looks like a great EDC flashlight ..Personally i prefer a basic operating flashlight...ON/OFF/DIM LIGHT & HI LIGHT...all working with one AA battery...these new hi capacity batteries (CR123A Lithium Batteries / NL1834 18650 3400mAh 3.7V Protected Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Button Top Battery /AAA EBL NiMH batteries / AA 14500 batteries /AAA 10440 / 14500 / etc etc...) are not easy to find in many parts of the world. Give me a basic OLIGHT BRAND Pocket light , I am happy, in the dark. .LOL 2:52...is that . Model 600plus scout multitool ?? 3:49... Wow...That's cool, to see another *Blade Connoissieur* ..I've lightened up my Blade carry from 5 to 2. One for myself ($125 cad....SAK Ranger), and #2 ($18 cad... cheapy SAK Camper) is for unprepared co-workers in the field. Can't have them ruining my expensive blade with their unskilled hands..LOL 5:57... Nice..I like that detachable Camera Mount...good stuff. 6:42.. that is funny, cause our family Vehicle died on us..and thank goodness for CAA ..they came in record time to help us out...But I am now gonna look into getting a Booster pack .. I appreciate your quicky review on this Unit...helps alot in my future Hunt for one of these.
What is the name of that gerber multitool?
I don't think that specific model is being made anymore, but the closest would be the Gerber Multi-Plier 600.
Oh, that's our BMS。So happy to see it.
Is it working well for you? Mine are working quite nicely, very pleased!
We are this BMS manufacturer, Sir. So happy to hear it works nice. Thank you! @@frugalgunnie
Very nice, Clean!
c'est du bon travail, j'adore ;)
Merci beaucoup!!!
I agree and the sun is lower anyways.
A smashing video, you put a lot of hard work into it, well done. But here you have this years thicky. Could you be really kind and help me by sketching out a diagram for me showing the hook up of all these components. 1x 430W Solar panel (for now) 1 X Victron MPPT 100/50 Blue solar. 4 x 305ah LifePo4 cells, 1 x JBD-SP04060 BMS (this puzzles me most because it has 3 B- Connections and 3 C- connections. and finally 1 x 4K/8K Flamezum Pure Sine wave inverter. This assembly is for my back garden tracking system (all Working) which hopefully will supply power for the out house containing a dryer and washing machine and maybe some winter heating for my greenhouse. I know it's a bit much but I'm 74 and terminally Ill and I have to have something to do else you can lay me down. I need to add some 4 way terminal blocks (2) and a fuse holder. maybe you could include these also and perhaps anything I have forgotten. I'm reaching out so your help would be appreciated, Thanks from over the pond. George
Thank you for that great feedback! I tried finding your BMS manual, but to no avail. Would you have a paper copy you can scan for me?
Nice work Gunnie
Thank you very much, definitely a labour of love lol

hello, I would like to know how much the battery voltage drops when turning on a 3kW appliance with old batteries and by how much with these newly installed batteries? Can you feel the difference in the hardness of the battery?
Thanks for the demo
Thank you, my first demo in the BMS left a lot of room for improvement lol, so a follow-up was in order 😆
Nice.
Nice demo.
My pleasure, I'll keep them coming
Nice.
What on/off switch are you using?

This is way cool keep it up! earned my like and sub for sure
Love it buddy!!!
Thank you, and thanks for all the truck advice, it's paying off! :)
that board looks awesome, all neat and tidy.
Thank you, I want things to look clean and simple when I am building for others!
2:04 very cool set up...your a genius. 8:15 ...I like that soft shackle ...don't see that often
Thanks, I had lots of inspiration, and a bit of help from friends helps a lot too! :)
Gunny please make more i love it. Nice sled shouldnt that do a catwalk right up onto the trailer?!
Absolutely should! Needs some TLC first though lol
Cant wait for the truck episode on the podcast. Lol
Here for you: ua-cam.com/video/8CJp5Uo7ndY/v-deo.htmlsi=K0Uit0onUHI2JhHa
when u explained that double hitch it sounded interesting but now that i see it. i have to say genius.
Nice setup gunny, good video bud.
Thanks 👍, much appreciated!
Watch a video on using a resistor before hooking power to the inverter, the capacitors will cause a spark witch could damage your cutoff switches. You could easily wire one with a momentary switch on the two lugs on the cutoff switch to the inverter.
Here is a video of my build and I show the resistor ua-cam.com/video/WV-FsQPcuz8/v-deo.htmlsi=YCCO_A7DoX_LMs3q
Thank you, I'll check that out!
Can you run a mini fridge, my husband n i live close to new liskeard, we cabin and are looking into solar ...
Definitely, I plan on ordering one from offgridcabin.ca
Nice solar system. Greetings from Jamaica.
Thank you, would love to set up some solar in beautiful Jamaica!!!
@@frugalgunnie Yeh we got lots of sunshine here, sometimes too much..lol. I do have a small (1000 watts of panels) system and a 100AH LiFePo4 battery. I built the system myself and it's doing very well so far. I will keep upgrading till i'm off grid.
Neat, tidy and clearly labelled. Well done.
Thanks, I take more care to label things for others than for myself! 🤣
CPP is the only podcast I listen to. They are a great group of guys and I feel like I fit right in. Looking forward to your involvement as we all know Ian is usually MIA.
Right on! Let me know what your favourite content is, I'll keep it coming!
Another great video. Waiting for the next one
Love how clearly it is labeled. Concise. What panels are hooked up to it?
They aren't yet installed , so those will be in a future video to come shortly, specs and all! Thanks for the sub! :)
Happy to have you onboard!
Glad to see u back I'll be in Canada next yr hope to meet ya
Let me know when you come up, it'd be great!
