That was interesting, I can't say that I disagree with your assessment but the judges had to pick somebody. None of them were anything I would have spent time looking at, except maybe the artist that drips color on horizontal canvas, but not for long. Isn't there a lemonade stand over there? Shall we try some?

Checked out the artists on the internet…and maybe because I did it on a tablet rather than a computer, was rather unimpressed with what I found….i liked the half finished piece the best with the thick watercolor next…

The winner is indeed the one you preferred - and it’s the best landscape. There is confusion at the end since this took time to recognise - then the next slide shows a different painting. Not a favourite episode as there is so much similarity. No personality. But then I much prefer the portrait show

Most of these look like they are painted by five-year-olds.the compositions are terrible

Oh dear. I didn’t like any of them. All sludgy brown to my eyes. The beach painting was wonderful though.

So funny…. While I liked many of the works…. The winner was the only one of the semi-finalists that I liked…. And I purchased a print from this episodes winner….she was also on 2018 fountain Abby…episode..

It was the setting colors….but interestingly enough… all 3 of the semi finalists used the color wheel opposites -- red and green…and the winner actually put green right on the castle…

Why aren’t you naming the artists as you talk about them?

I liked all of the portraits! I think, if I had an opportunity to own one, I would also ask to buy a print of the self portrait, to display next to it. What a wealth of talent! 🤗

Agree with you on the results. All three finalists look so amateur, hobby painters at best. The painter decapitating people is really below consideration. Cannot imagine why he was chosen!!! Yuck. Weak episode, as you said.

This looks familiar. I run across several channels on UA-cam that pirate the shows, and it seems like if they do them out of sequence, and add a few at a time, and chop out part of the sound track, that makes it allowable. Thanks for bringing it to us in a highly digestible format.

I think you got the title wrong. The venue for this episode was Plymouth, Smeaton's Tower, not Tyneside Bridge!

Well deserved winner. I don’t usually like landscape paintings after suffering a terrible effort given to us as a wedding present and the focal point of our living room for 13 years. I’d swap for either of these in a heartbeat.

Like always… that vague wiggles one is my fav…. But then… I would never ever have selected her to even get into the program as the submission is so not my liking…the one with all the lines / threads on it was so nice….

Yeah, they missed on the final decision here. That closeup portrait of the old guy Jim Carter was MUCH better, in color, in likeness, in composition, in interest. This winner's portrait looks like a mess to me; yeah, it's got a lot of color, but it looks very slap-dash, like the reds were just thrown on the canvas haphazardly, & for me it ruins the composition. Plus, the likeness was not really there either. Boo on this episode (theirs, not yours, Jo!)

Suggestion: pronunciation of model’s name could be gained from listening to program audio

That (often) amateur painters don’t produce wonderful work - or a likeness - in a short time and under great scrutiny is not a surprise. The meanness of your opinions is more offensive than anything I see on the show

I wouldn't trust those judges to make a recommendation for a gallery. Imagine the masterpieces that they'd reject because they're too "pretty" or "academic"

Some candidates seemed to have poor drawing skills--or were they intentionally using a distorted style? I have heard that portrait painting is 80 percent drawing. Maybe the world has changed.

I believe you missed the episode, I think it was possibly season 9, when a girl who used a projector won her heat. One of the presenters questioned the artistry but the judges were fine with it. I think it's the endresult that counts, but if the artist isn't capable of drawing properly then I find it a bit odd. However, Vermeer also used his own version of the camera obscura and his talent is nevertheless undeniable. The art is to bring something to life on the canvas, not whether to trace or not to trace.

I guess thats why the sitters must be actors😂😂😂😂. I mean the last portrait really shocked me. It showed a complete lack of respect for the sitter
