Such a fun way to create the illusion of bubbles on fabric! In this art quilting technique, I combined batiks and paint to create beautiful little bubbles that I quilted with holographic thread. This is a great project if you want to start learning how to paint fabric or want to try your hand at art quilting. I kept mine a very manageable size at about 12"x12". Supplies: 1 fabric for your bubbl...

Choosing Coordinating Fabric for your Quilts Log Cabin Edition (Come Shopping with us!)
So cute 🥰
Hello, What is the quilt pattern? Can I purchase it from somewhere?
Sorry it was a customer quilt I don’t know the pattern.
@ ok. Thanks for responding.
I love the tutorial but you don’t have to advertise for Missouri star quilt shop unless you get big discount and or free materials to do so any quilt shop would have all this so does joanns
It’s true. We were working with them and we were trying to get them to pay attention with this video so that was the point. But I’m so glad you liked the tutorial.
Thank you for your appreciation of my work!
Do you use a stabilizer when you stitch on the appliqué?
No. I usually use an iron on adhesive like Mistyfuse then I quilt them heavily.
Damn lady! Find a nicer way to deal with mass communication. This should’ve been a phone call to someone. Wow. Message noted. Thanks for that. Presented correctly this is a very important message. And, great advice.
Sorry if it came across poorly. I was trying to be silly.
What is that iron please?
Amazon.com/shop/experiencethequilt Here is where you can find it. It’s a Clover mini iron.

As I am trying to improve my sewing skills (I use a featherweight 221 that was my grandmother's) I want to try to start sewing some curves. This type of quilting looks like a great way to start doing that since you don't have to get so crazy accurate on the block size. I'm going to give it a go!
You should it’s very fun! I’ve never used a featherweight but m sure it’s a great way to try. Good luck!
Amazing❤
Oh my gosh gorgeous! I’m a new quilter and not always a fan of normal, traditional fabric or patterns so I hesitated getting in too deep. But seeing this I am thrilled! Thank you!
You are so welcome! We are launching some new kits this weekend that are for people like you who want to try art quilting. Check out my website later this week! I’ll have some new videos on it next month.
Love your help and explaining, thx. If i would make a queen size log cabin quilt, just for the one side of the duvet cover, how much material would i need please. Would you say it is safe to buy the full size of a duvet cover, one side, only? Thx. My idea is to start a small square in the middle and keep on working to the full side is complete.
Great idea! I am trying to find my book that says how much fabric but I leant it to someone & I can’t find it. My go to book is Eleanor Burns log Cabin Quilts. You could probably find it online or at the library. It’s pretty old. You might even be able to google it. I’m sorry im not more help. I haven’t been making a lot of traditional bed quilts lately as I’ve been focusing on the art quilt side & making smaller quilts.
so fun- thank yoU!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this video. What a great tutorial! I do have one question. Are all the products and techniques used in this process able to be washed? I want to make something similar for my granddaughter but I am sure it will need to be thrown in the washing machine on occasion.
Yes. Once heat pressed everything is permanent. Although I haven’t washed them much cause I usually only hang my projects. Thanks for checking us out. More videos to come!
I want to correct my above reply. The Derwent inks & Tsukineko inks are actually permanent once dry no need to heat set.
Beautiful
Thank you! It’s one of my favorites!
Question: Do you think I could use an embroidery hoop to keep a section taut while painting a long shirt? Can I use one without stretching my shirt out of shape?
I think so. The problem is the fabric gets wet and droops then touches the table top and the paint then pools and leaves marks. So if you could tip the hoop on a box that would help. It could stretch it’s according to the fabric that you’re trying to paint. I would think if you didn’t pull it too tight it would be better sorry I haven’t painted on shirts.
❤❤❤
Love this idea! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Watch my website. In the next couple of months we’ll be putting this for sale as a kit!
I too have suffered through tiresome definitions of what is modern quilting. I think what we really mean is "non-traditional", period!
I like that.
I ordered the teflon pressing mat. Thanks for the suggestion! Nice to meet you in Boise.
You’re going to love it! So fun to meet you!
Great tips, thank you!
You’re welcome!
Amazing, loved your creation...i wish you could also show in some other video how you did the river quilting(3d wrinkles), would love to learn that as well...😊
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll work on a video for that too.
The orange as you call it looks bright yellow to me. Only thing im saying except what a wild and fun way to make a quilt top. Yippee. Lol
Is this almost like freezer paper? The one you are using now?
I’m not sure I understand what you are asking. The technique in the video doesn’t use freezer paper but the technique I use mostly now does. I will be doing this pattern in a freezer paper style video in the next few months.
I think she is using like a heat and bond which has paper on one side and glue on the other
It’s steam a seam lite
So beautiful and thank you for the tutorial! How do you quilt over the beads and crystals that are in the sheer fabrics? Does your needle go thru them?
I mostly just avoid them when I’m quilting, but the very thin glittery spots. The needle did go through just fine.
What type of brush ru using?
The paint brush is just a cheap craft brush. It’s flat and small. The brush with the Tsukineko ink is called Fantastix. It comes with the ink. It’s a foam core. They have painted & rounded. I like the pointed best.
Thank you for a great project. Very nice tutorial.
Thanks so much for your feedback. More videos are coming!
Where on your website can I get the free pattern download you mention? We really love to try this. Thank you.
I apologize. It should be up next week. We are excited to release more!
Is the free pattern still available? I tried to find it on the website, but didn’t see it. Looking forward to trying this method
I love this block. Can you tell me how to purchase the pattern?
There isn’t a pattern. I got permission from the artist to use it. Then she bought the quilt from me. I will ask her to see if I could use it as a pattern & I could make it available on my website. Thanks for watching!
That would be wonderful! You did beautiful work on this!
We got permission from the artist to use this as a pattern so we will be producing it into a kit later this year.
Wonderful!! I’ll be watching for it 🤩
What is it that you are ironing onto the back of each pattern piece after you iron on the freezer paper? Wonderful instructions. Can’t wait to give it a try.
It’s called Mistyfuse.
Thanks so much for showing us close ups of all of these art quilts. I have seen them in slideshows but it's so nice to get a closer look!
It’s always inspiring to see more art. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
This process is just amazing. Great job
Thank you. It was a lot of fun!
❤
Do you prewash your fabrics? Enjoyed your videos
No never.
You do a great job pairing the quilting design to the fabrics and quilt pattern. (Karen in Kuna)
Thanks Karen!
That was so helpful and interesting! Thank you! (Karen in Kuna)
Glad it was helpful!
Where bib you get the pattern, I can’t seem to find one.
Stitchdelight.net. But it was a couple of years ago.
Fascinating! What a great use of discarded sweaters.
Thats really impressive!!🐝
Thank you, this was a very good tutorial for beginners. I bought an art quilt pattern (Ariel by Lise Bélanger) on impulse and was pretty confused by the instructions, although I'm a decent seamstress. Art quilts really are a different beast. Now I'm ready to tackle it.
Yay!!! Thank you! I’m glad it helped. You can do it!
Another absolutely stunning piece of art. Thank you l only wish I could see them all in real life
Yes they are better in real life! Maybe check the SAQA website to see if it’s coming closer to you?
@@ExperienceTheQuilt Irving in Perth Australia
Thank you for sharing these amazing pieces of art. Every single one that you show us are absolutely wonderful.
Art?
What’s your question?
Stunning especially up close. 👍❤️❤️
To me it looks like a close-up of human skin with a laceration. Exquisite work.
Thank you. Amazing work.
Stay tuned I’ll be showing more each day.
You can marble leather with shaving cream too
Really cool 😎
What a fun method. Thank you!
You’re welcome. I’ll be putting up a follow up video in the next month.
I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm just learning to do art quilts. I wish your shop was close by to me, but thank God for UA-cam. I'm in NJ and the closest I've been to you is Colorado ...lol!! I'm learning so much from you!❤😊😊
Welcome! I’m so glad you found it. My husband is from New Jersey! I’ve been there several times. Love those cheesesteaks! Lots more videos coming. Is there anything specific you’d like to learn?
