Friend Reacts To Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Since when did people not rate room on fire?? Wasnt it their best album commercially? Also the tunes on this are immaculate! Automatic stop, you talk way too much, under control, reptillia and the intro track are all bangers.
fantastic album
I think this one aged well. When it dropped I wasn't thrilled
This version feels/sounds totally different to the original release.
Wow you guys are boring asf
please do Phrazes for the Young next
It must be the media n critics
my fav album 🔥🔥
The sretch of songs from Territorial Pissings to On A Plain Are definitely the best, actually, the second side of the album is better on ALL albums
One Way Trigger is one of my most addictive songs by The Strokes. First time really hearing Julian sing that way, and now it seems common but always very cool. Also musically very different but I love it. Some 80’s vibes.
Great album with no fillers. Once again sounding like The Strokes but not really repeating by adding new elements and dynamics. The synth sound on guitar. So pleasing to the ears. Lots of bits on this album just makes me smile.
Another killer album from The Strokes and their heaviest. I love the differences in each album but still noticeably being The Strokes. When I play these albums I’m not skipping tracks. Just let em play. I think 15 Minutes is an underrated song. The intro into the build up is just awesome. Ize of the World is another with amazing build up. Evening Sun with all those little change ups is brilliant. There’s just something about each track.
Juicebox is about vampires, either literally or metaphorically you can take your pick but it's more fun for me if it's literal draculas, the juiceboxes in the title are the people they are feeding on
Are you guys alive???? No pun intended. This was Pj's first album! And its an amazing work of rack and roll and sound. Evenflow and Alive are freakin top a rock songs historically. I understand why music has gone to the shitter. Young people lack good taste Few new rock bands can reach the level of PJ. BTW Ten is considered by many among the greatest rock albums ever made.
They're just Brit*sh
First impressions of First Impressions Of Earth
I really enjoyed this video, actually you have a very interesting way to understand the lyrics, really love the strokes and the analysis you made
One word for this album....patience! If you are patient with this album and give it time. It is amazing. Took me a fair few, listen throughs for me to get this. But when you do...wow.
The dude on the left looking all emotionless not even bobbing his head is not a music fan. He could care less.
Yall look real enthused...
Not warm? It's sing songy
i’m american and i absolutely love am!! this album is actually my favorite of mine, despite it not being relatable to me at all 😭 just shows how good it is, though! he makes uk youth in the 00s seem so cool hahaha, makes me envious of anyone who got to experience growing up in that sort of culture :,)
Polly is about a real story. A guy, Gerald Friend, kidnapped a 14 years girl, raped and tortuted her. She pretended to enjoy to hair his trust then she escaped. “amazes me the will of instict “
Great album. Another great album to check out from the 90s is oasis definitely maybe. Every track is a banger.
As an Englishman I can tell you this: In a Band I never wrote the lyrics to include the word ‘gun’, yet in the first 3 songs on the album, kurt is almost obsessed with loading them up, shooting them and then denying it. Make of it what you will!
Love you guys. From Brazil 🇧🇷
Thanks for the vibey sesh! One of my favorite albums of theirs. Excited to listen to your vids!
Could you please react to any foals album?
Julian is a natural born female. The skeleton doesn't lie. Do some research. These people aren't like us. Oh that song "Juicebox" is about a woman's vag btw. Peace Fellas!
2023 grand final would be a great place to start, it was a phenomenal day.
Bro in the right looks like rob stark
I think this album needs to find you at the right moment to really appreciate it. I was a casual AM listener (I knew the 5 main songs) but when I heard Crying Lightning for the first time, on a gloomy autumn day, I was utterly bewitched and from then on I couldn’t get enough of AM. This whole album has a similar vibe, which is what I like best, and that’s why it’s my favourite album ever. Conversely, 505 -their most popular song- was a grower for me.
on the topic of "Release" and that last bit... It's a neat little reward for people who sit through the album. at the start, you hear it before "Once" fades in. it leaves people (at least people who've pointed it out) wondering why that was there... and then you get to the last song, notice it's silent but not stopping... then you hear it come back again as a nice, satisfying and atmospheric end to the album, and track considering how soft Release is. But lets say you repeat it or have the album on loop and have just finished Release. you hear the hidden track, it fades out, comes back then BOOM. back into Once. I don't think it's the most genius thing ever, I just kinda like it. quite a few bands did it back then and I wish they continued with it... but honestly, that's what makes it so interesting, the fact there's only a handful of bands that have done it.
You bois sorta missed the mark on this one. I'd suggest having the lyrics up just so you can follow along to the story the band's tryna tell. Their sound will vary between albums, and this one seems quite over produced imo. Their other albums are definitely worth reacting to.
Love your reactions, hug from Brazil 🇧🇷
Definitely get where you’re coming from their sound can get a bit samey but I still love them. I’d love to see a reaction for The Ride!
Might be the most insane reaction to Ten I've ever heard. Congratulations?!
What fascinates me about this album is how god damn catchy every song is despite having crazy, impenetrable lyrics. Kurt was a master songwriter.
ommg this guys voice is fantastic
Cómo vas a adelantar el solo de welcome to japan
(The Bends), (Amnesiac) and (Hail to the The Thief) are also really good albums by (Radiohead), which I noticed you guys missed, unless you're not doing it in release order.
“Balaclava” is about a married woman cheating on her husband. Judging by the line “Running up over next door’s garden before the hour is done…” they’re doing it at the couple’s house while he’s away. Someone pointed out to me that “balaclava” is a metaphor for a condom, which makes the last bit make a lot more sense. “She pleaded with you to take it off but you resisted and fought / ‘I’m sorry sweetheart, I’d much rather keep on the balaclava’” fuckin brilliant joke. I guess “The confidence is the balaclava” is saying that if he takes it off, she might get pregnant and the husband might be able to run a DNA test and find out who the father is. Or just that he might find some sticky white stuff on the bed. So it serves as a balaclava, hiding his identity, and also covering up the head (lol)
It seems like angry music, but actually it shows a paradox: Life was relatively soft, so people chased negative emotions as a spice. Whereas the WW2 generation, who experienced the worst that life could possibly show them, were into smooth jazz.
Nice job!! Thanks from America. Great band
That chord progression your talking about is used in like 3/4 of Julian Casablanca's' projects.
I actually think this is the strokes’ worst album tbh. Not to say it’s bad or anything… but it is the only album that contains songs that I skip. I personally think it has all of their worst songs in it. At the same time though, it also legit has like 4 of the top 10 strokes songs on it too so it’s really weird lol.
honestly for me i only skip the songs on this album because of how many times i listened to them in the past because of how much i loved them lol
do stone temple pilots core or purple!!!
He says Jeremy is about show and tell at school or something like that………….
Jeremy...is a song about a kid who killed himself in front of his classmates...you should understand what some of these songs are about...most of them do have some meaning
Where was qyurryus????
This video was hilarious 😂
