Filtertrons Vs Humbuckers - What's the Difference!?
The MXR isn’t an accurate univibe. I was really disappointed in it personally. I’d choose a phase 45 if you wanted a little bit of both. But you need both lol.
I think the MXR is still a good sounding pedal but I do agree it's not the most authentic. I'm interested in getting my hands on the ehx good vibes as that's a proper photocell vibe pedal. I'll have to check out the phase 45 as well tho. I agree you should have both, can never have too many pedals haha
Sounds great 👍🏽
I got mine this year and it replaced my Big Muff. I love the damn thing.
That was probably the most realistic demo of this amp. I’ve heard yet.
Nie ma brzmienia !
There is sound
"As you hear it gives you a really wide variety of tonal range just through the filter" What I heard was nothing happen for the first half of the knob turn, then the mids drop out a little bit during the later half. Essentially two tones. Least effective knob ever. My friend Lance had a Rat in the 90s. I thought it was a cheap shitty pedal back then and this video does nothing to alter that perception
Who asked?
I also like to boost my rat with a boss metalzone for heavier tones. Gets everything from 80s hair metal to brutal 90s death and sludge metal tones.
I'll have to give that a try
That Superheaven intro sounded absolutely great with the rat.
is it possible to connect it to the amplifier input?
You can connect it to the input of your amp. But then you get the preamp of whatever amp you have in there too which then kinda defeats the whole point of the preamp giving you a marshall sound
Great showcase of this pedal James! I didn't know about this pedal, it's pretty cool! You definitely get a nice meaty Metal tone with that pedal, sounds great! 🤘🏻🤘🏻😁
Just use a fuck ton of drive!
Normally it takes a bit of time to get to know a new pedal. Not so with my Rat 2. The pedal is just an endless series of highly diverse and usable sounds. Very easy to dial in, and it fits so many situations.
Got a clone of the Sunn O))) Life Pedal V3 recently (which is based on a rat, has the LM308 chip etc) but it was huge on my board and I was only really using the drive section of it, so decided to replace it for a Proco RAT 2, amazing pedal, build quality is great and it sounds perfect. Very versatile when using the distortion and filter controls together and adjusting each to suit, goes from low drive distortion to fuzz-esque doomy tones (which I use it for).
LM 308’s aren’t special. Same chip as the OP07. Slew rate is the same.
@ nope exactly, hence why I swapped it for a current version of the proco rat 2, sounds just as good 😊
I love my little white-faced rat :)
Nice demo, man. I agree, it sounds crazy good. I also really like the MGP 9004 by Marshall. Both units are pretty much ideal for early 80s style of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal by themselves. If you juice them up with a Super Overdrive type of pedal or something similar, it's possible to coax some old-school Thrash Metal tones out of 'em. In the user manual it states that the DRP-1 was designed by the same group of people who worked on the Valvestate, Anniversary and JCM900 amps. Killer equipment when used properly. Cheers!
Great tone! This or the Origin20?
I don't have much experience with the origin stuff but to me they're more of a ballpark marshall sound than any one specific amp. So for me it's the SV all day, budget permitting of course.
Cette application online est un vrai problème, mais il suffit de charger les 8 presets pour ne plus être dépendant de l'application.
Why does everyones D cord always sound out of tune to me.
Cool idea James! Quite fun seeing how you can go from something totally random to guitar gear haha! Would definitely be fun to see another one of these, maybe making it harder with a time limit or something? 😁🤘🏻
Feel free to recommend some start and end points you think would make it harder
@JamesDorsett11 OK, maybe something like starting from a completely different planet (not literally haha) and ending on a Vox amp might be a challenge 😁🤘🏻
Excellent technique...
very interesting and thank you for the insight. Can you show us what the channel jumping wiring looks like so we can see where that lead goes?
Cool video, thank you. I have never seen the 200 series version of the Space echo, Slicer or Rotary. There's not a ton of info online but the RE-200 seems to have been replaced by the RE-202. PS: I suggest you get a pop filter for your microphone.
Wow tune that thing, unbelievable lol
Are you deaf lol
Sick SG
Thanks! It is a beauty
Nicely done!
Great demo James! You can definitely get that old school AC/DC sound with this amp, love it! Sounds awesome 😁🤘🏻
David used the phase 90 on Breathe. It definitely wasn’t univibe. You were pretty close to playing breathe correctly
David accuired the phase 90 in 1974 switching from the uni vibe and phase when playing DSOTM live but the album version is definetly a uni vibe
great video. missed the VE-22 I think!
whens the "I test every Boss Pedal" video now?
When I win the lottery I think 😂
Change the intro!! It did you no justice lol. I had this on while doing dishes so I couldn't turn it. The ending was perfect!
Uni-vibe always!
Vibe for me 🎧🙌🏻
Great video James! Really insightful and interesting to learn about the Boss pedals. The most known one for me is the Heavy Metal HM-2 pedal, most commonly used by the Swedish Death Metal bands like Entombed and Dismember. They'd just turn everything up to max, to create the "Buzzsaw" tone! 😁🤘🏻
Excellent
I kinda liked the acoustic into the vox honestly. Im probably biased, since i like really trebly acoustic guitars. Its all preference.
Sounds great to me.
What no Tele into the vox? Decent video but incomplete. Also play with the amp settings a bit to show more variation.
Cool vid! I have gotten closer to the amplified acoustic sound in my head by plugging guitar into mixer into PA and adding EQ & reverb from the board
You could easily get a valvestate and wem for under the price of a Ac15
Not easy to find a Wem these days though.
It is never too late 😉Have both the Spark 2 (not the original, too muddy for me) and the THR 30wii ... THR is still the best soundwise particularly on clear sounds but the Spark 2 is a "killer" tool for home studio .. unbeatable ... both are worth it
Great idea for a video James! You certainly do know your guitars very well. Though I guess because all guitars have different necks and pickups, you probably can tell them apart. It gets harder when you have a few guitars that are similar, I don't know how well I could tell my guitars apart from just the necks haha! 😁🤘🏻
Great video mate
nice video! 😃 The Carbon copy is also my favorite delay. I have the deluxe version because I need the tap tempo and can't stop playing it. 🎸 Kind regards from Hamburg 🤘🏻
That's a cool little pedal James! At the start I thought you were playing the intro to Welcome to the jungle by GnR. But yeah, you can definitely use this for many things, I fully get why many pros use this. Nice one 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I own a previous version of Amplug that dutifully keeps on doing a very satisfactory job. Besides its good sound, solidity and practicality, I really appreciate the fact that it is powered by two AAA batteries and not a rechargeable one. Nowadays with a power bank recharging is no longer a problem, even in a hut in the forest, but in the old days it was!
I've had one for a couple of years. Got it as a Stupid Deal of the Day. It's a decent little practice tool.
I've just bagged one for £99. Great demo mate. Carlo 👍🏼🎸
Nice one James! That little thing is pretty good! For something you can use with phone headphones it's great! It actually sounded quite similar to your AC15, some really nice tones too! I can understand why it probably wouldn't be very useful for a lot of people, but it would be great for someone like a bedroom player or someone who doesn't wanna annoy the neighbours! 😁🤘🏻
I’ve had THR C as a home amp for about 9 years. Recently I bought a spark 2 because I thought the feature set was enticing. However in my opinion the THR is a superior sounding amp. The response is outstanding and the damn thing just sounds great. The spark is just overloaded and I’m I plug and play dude. Plus I use my tone and volume knobs a lot. The spark isn’t very responsive in that manner. It’s going back tomorrow. This is just an opinion and like everything else in guitardom it’s subjective..
Nice one James! I was wrong again haha! I think that just shows either Solid state and Tube amps are quite similar, or my ears aren't very good haha! 😂😂🤘🏻🤘🏻
