I've been busier than a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs with medical stuff lately (cancer ain't my idea of a good time) and just a little while ago started to open my Auto Modeler that came in the mail 3 days ago. Then my model car buddy came by ro pick up the pair of Bantam Blasts, the Jimmy Flintstone Bantam Coupe Altered body to go on one of the chassis and a Slingster kit with its Bantam coupe Comp rail body. Those are a thank you for him taking me to Doctor appointments because I couldn't drive at the time and sitting outside for as much as 5 hours waiting. A true friend. Thanks again Charlie. Anyway, I met Scott at the SoCal Open model show. I was there with Charlie and was hanging out with old friend Armando Flores. He had to start tending to his judging duties. When Armando walked away, Scott was there and we talked for a while about the coming magazine. I decided right away that I would be subscribing to Auto Modeler. At home, my wife thought the flyer Scott gave me was junk mail and discarded it. Then I spent a week in ICU. (Did I say Cancer is no fun?) Then while in the hospital, I thought of the magazine and that I hadn't subbed yet. So I got on my phone and subscribed. Now things are slowing until I go back in the hospital tomorrow to have a kidney drain removed and some cancer scar material removed from my bladder. Meanwhile, I plan to get back after the Altered Production Line. AMT Fiat from the Double Dragster kit with hood and nose sides filled and cut to the fender line like the Revell/Atlantis Fiat. The roll cage and rear frame structure from a Mooneyes Dragster is fitted to the frame. A scratch built aluminum seat with cardboard upholstery is fitted to the cage. Then a Revell/Atlantis Fiat is getting a similar Mooneyes roll cage and rear frame structure is getting fitted to that Fiat. Same time, an AMT 25 T Chopped Coupe is getting a similar roll cage scratch built out of 1/16 styrene rod and the rear sides of the body cut for the slicks. Then when I'm done with these 3, I'll start on my pair of Bantams. 1 to be a roadster pretty much OOB. Then a 2nd to get another Jimmy Flintstone Bantam Coupe body. Oh...Then I have an AMT Parts Pack 25 T Altered. Then some gassers.

Mark, I also use project boxes when building to stay organized and to protect the parts that have been painted and assembled already. 😃

On your project box idea, I use a parts container because I can change the divider spaces and make them bigger or smaller depending on what I need. I find it very useful because I can take it with me from room to room and it keeps my cats from playing with the parts and losing them. It’s handy to divide up the different small parts and at a glance I can see inside the top and see what has been primed for paint. I have a 2 sided one with a clear top on both sides with removable dividers for everything. When my car is done I clean it out and store the extra parts in a bigger box. It’s an idea that I find works. I know it’s more money but I only have one and it stops the clutter build up. Only so much room in a bungalow and then you need a place for the new stuff. I find it easier to just keep it small and easy to use.

Unless I'm buildinga replica of a specific car, the paint color is dead last consideration except for decals. Same as a fabricator of race cars, hot rods, muscle cars, etc.

New projects are built in my mind many times over....working out details. Then I gather items needed, order or hunt parts. Then I go....but things can change at any time.

Great video, it just goes to show how different everybody is, i let the car come up with the colors, and i get the parts first, so i know stance and wheel/tire choices, and start with the chassis, that way i know whats it will basically look like when finished

I kinda do the same thing, I think about it for a while and then pick a paint that I want to try as I don't follow any set of rules, it's what I like that day and most likely it will change in mid-build... Lol Man those are some old decals. Firebird Design has been gone for some time sad to say, I use to buy from him... 😥 Man that is a lot of stuff for a build and a ton of money in each of those containers... Lol I build 99% box stock and very little customizing with that kind of stuff. I don't have the money for all of that but I see it as what works for you, then it is great! I'm just a simple shelf queen builder... 🤣 LLAP 🖖

Crazy how stuff happens: a 68 Mustang dirt modified popped up for sale couple years back, dark blue, raced at Morgantown WV...anybody see it? Anyway, decided I would built a tribute so bought the Mustang kit and one of those modifieds for the frame. Meanwhile my grandson was born, so dedicating the build to him. Scratchbuilt the roll cage, radiused the fenders for tire clearance, painted the body in Richie Evans orange.....and project stalled for all kinds of reasons including child care of grandson. It'll get done, but I just love the echo of your project, just sayin'. Cheers!
