This channel helps bring knowledge of the body to everyone. Dr. Amy Novotny describes the PABR® Institute's approach to healing and she interviews other notable people in the health and wellness world. The PABR® method is a holistic approach to restoring the body to its full potential by using the body’s own nervous system. It is a step-by-step process to change the way the body feels and moves. This is not physical therapy which is a modality that’s applied to you externally. Rather, the PABR® method transforms you through internal changes that you learn and can control. We coach you through breathing and body awareness techniques that are customized to help you achieve what’s missing in your life. If you want to return to a specific activity, movement or sport, then your sessions will be tailored towards those goals. We take the time to get to know you in one-on-one sessions with only you and your specialist developing your plan to address your limitations and your goals.
What This Wisconsin Doctor Discovered About Healing MS Naturally!
Have you been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis or another autoimmune condition? Do you have brain fog, fatigue, nerve symptoms and more?
For this week’s episode of the Reawaken Your Health podcast, we discussed how to improve mitochondrial health to improve energy and vitality with naturopathic physician and author, Dr. Debra Muth. Dr. Muth wrote the book, "If Not MS, Then What?" to describe her journey into solving her sudden health changes that began in 2022.
Dr. Muth described her fall from health into numbness, neck pain, fatigue, memory issues and much more. She even had brain MRI scans that showed white matter disease, which is typically a sign of infection or toxins until proven otherwise.
We discussed the approach Dr. Muth took, including treating a chronic Lyme disease infection, addressing mold toxicity, optimizing her hormones and brain retraining of the prefrontal cortex. She goes into more detail why she needed to work on each of these issues and the benefits of each.
She also touched on improving mitochondrial health. She mentioned what the mitochondria do for us and how we can improve their function in our cells.
We also explored lifestyle changes that are critical to our mitochondria, including addressing stress, environmental toxins, sleep issues and diet. We touched on some solutions for each of these areas.
Dr. Muth has over two decades of experience in treating complex chronic illnesses. Because she was able to resolve her symptoms despite a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, she has a unique and comprehensive approach to restoring health.

Insightful conversation!
Thank you! Dr. Muth has great information!
@DrAmyNovotny can we do a Zoom call to know each other more?
Hey doc, I just wanted to thank you for helping explain this. I have been trying to find an answer for this pain and lack of mobility in my left calf for almost 2 years now and this video finally gave me what i think might be the answer. I was at the gym last week and i tried doing calf raises and i noticed that i can only really raise with my right calf and my left one just seems to hurt when i try. Is there variations of this problem or do i have symptoms of another issue that i need to know about. please get back to me when you can. Thank you!
Hi John! There can be multiple reasons why your can't lift up on your toes. Low back issues, including nerve impingement, is a common reason why. Sometimes people get their nerve pinched in other areas that can contribute to this issue as well. I'd definitely get looked at by a healthcare provider. If you want to chat about how I help people with this issue, feel free to sign up for a free consultation: www.pabrinstitute.com/services#book. Thanks!
Where’s the comments
Hi Krisha. The comments are below each video. Please feel free to read the synopsis and reach out to Dr. Willow!
This sounds similar to the discoveries and treatment re psychosomatic medicine by Dr John Sarno ( i think the name is correct, from memory)
Hi John, It's different from Dr. Sarno's work but I'm familiar with his work a little bit.
This is what I have suspected about the B vitamins. Why would.we store B12 only? So this helps me. D can help to restore Bs.. but now there is the question of D maintenance dose.. we can’t do daily. Can we just keep taking 50,000 every week? Shoot. How did you calculate how much a person needs… ? And to keep the dose I frequent. Once a week or less.. not daily. Also B12. Oh I’m so angry., the pathologists are lying about the biopsies. There are parasites. Oh I’m so angry..
Hi. Dr. Gominak talks about getting monthly bloodwork to determine if a dosage is correct for you. I highly recommend working with someone who is on board with this strategy so you know how much vitamin D to take. Thanks!
You said something about not being able to walk or run with the toes so you just push the leg forward to walk. I’m experience this exact thing and I’m just 15yo and it happened after an injection on my butt. Pls is there any way it can be fixed pls 😢🙏, what exercises or drugs can I do or take ?
Hi James. I'm so sorry to hear you had trouble from an injection. I never prescribe drugs and I work with people to teach them how to calm the nervous system to release muscles that abnormally press on nerves that cause this. I'd be happy to chat so we can look at working on this. Every person is different so there is not a specific exercise I would give you until I've seen your body and assessed what's wrong.

Thank you for the advice! The writing posture makes sense for relaxing the shoulders/arms. Now how do we maintain that posture while not craning/bending our neck to look down at the paper which is now lower at elbow height?
Great question. Most people don't use their eye muscles separately from their necks. If you look down first with your eyes and still can't see the paper, then you can start to tilt your head down using muscles in the front of your neck. Your whole neck doesn't need to go forward. I hope this helps.

Where do younger B100?
Hi Sharon, You can get B-100 complex at most health food stores. Thanks.
Wonderful. So how should we relax? Switch sides often? I tend to lie/lean to one side.
Hi. The relaxation part can be difficult depending on the person. That's what I work with people on. Generally speaking, your ribs need to relax down and in to get your back muscles to relax. You can try switching sides often but ideally you want to be able to sit straight back or stand with a neutral spine.
This makes sense. Thank you!
Oh good. Glad to hear that! Thanks for the feedback!
This is so interesting and I must mention that after my first colonoscopy I started having gut issues and not sleeping well. Wonder if this is all connected...hot flashes, heart palpitations...on and on
I'm sorry to hear you had those issues after your colonoscopy. I'd definitely consider it and speak to your GI doc or PCP to see about the possibilty.
Very helpful. Thank you.
You're welcome! I hope you can implement the tips! Thanks for commenting!
This is the least helpful video I have seen about standing from a low seat. Most people with this problem have either bad knees, bad hips, weak muscles etc ... information about centre of gravity, foot placement, creating some momentum etc would be useful.
If you watch the video fully, you can see that I am describing a way to change your mechanics so that you learn to use your thighs differently to help with all the issues you mentioned. I don't mind doing another video with the information you mentioned and I appreciate that feedback. This video was designed for people who wanted a simple approach with changing their mechanics.
Hi! Thanks so much for this informative video :) I was wondering if I have to lean back if I use my exercise bike in a recumbent position? I usually lean forward (straight back, not arching) and hold the bars to engage my abs (the bars are chest level for my bike since it converts between upright and recumbent).
Hi! It really depends on how your body is positioned on the bike. If you are trying to get a leg workout, I'd recommend leaning back into the support so you can focus on your thigh muscles learning to do the work. If you are sitting up straight, you are training your back muscles.
So then going to the doctor for preventative check ups is a bad idea as a diagnosis of something would scare the majority especially like a cancer diagnosis
When you go to a doctor for a preventative check up, you typically don't get a cancer diagnosis at that time. You get might get referred for additional testing to explore what's going on. So, I wouldn't say preventative check ups are bad and I don't believe Katherine feels that way either.
in general Fear is a major factor in most of our disorders and problems. Whatever the diagnosis We must consider it an offer and it will pass sooner or later We don't stop there for long. Fear of illness is illness.
@@waelalmazloum7189 Yes, definitely true. If we take information and look at solutions, we can learn to minimize fear and take action, whether it's lifestyle changes, mental health changes or other treatment.

How bout foot flopping… I can’t lift my foot up.
Hi. Foot flopping is another common issue that can come from a variety of reasons. Sometimes it can be a result of a low back nerve issue but it can also come from an injury in the lower leg. We can chat about it more if you want to sign up for a free consult. Thanks! www.pabrinstitute.com/services#book
I just realized this exact thing, that I have been walking without extending my leg behind the body, in effect not using my glutes to their potential, partially adding to anterior pelvic tilt creating lower back pain. Thank your for demonstrating this!😊

Hi Victor. What kind of help are you looking for with your health?
I have worked with Amy and she is incredible! When I started my sessions with her, I couldn’t walk for more than 10 minutes or stand for more than 5 without pain. I was a mess. Just today my neighbor saw me strolling through the neighborhood and commented on how well I was walking 😊. I am now playing disc golf again and just spent more than an hour playing pickle ball, which was unimaginable a year ago. Her wholistic approach is fantastic. Thanks, Amy!

Is the liquid or powdered clay better
Hi Alycia. I've only used the powdered clay since I like to control how much I use and can adjust.
@@DrAmyNovotnyWhat Brand of clay are you using? Thanks
@@Readysetgo2 Hi. I tried Ran's Detox Dirt but there are many brands out there for bentonite clay.
Hi, Dr. Amy! I'm 59 with osteoporosis and herniated L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs. To gain leg strength, I will purchase a recumbent bike. What brand(s) do you recommend for a modest budget? Thanks for your videos! Cathy
Hi Cathy, Instead of a particular brand, I'd try to go to a sports shop and try out the bikes. There are so many types out there and you want to make sure you can sit in one and try it out to see if it fits to your body. You want a seat that reclines a tiny bit so that your whole back can touch it. Then the pedals need to adjust to the length of your legs. There is not one best one out there. You really need to try a variety out at a store. Thanks!

People who live in the far north where there is very little sunlight for months…how do they get enough vitamin D?
Sperti Vit D lamp or supplements
@@iot577 and before vitamin pills and lamps?
Unfortunately, you'll have to do supplements or a lamp as was suggested. I'd still try to get outside as much as possible.
@DrAmyNovotny yes, that's what I try to do. It's very difficult to get strong light November-April in Ireland, where I live. Although any light is better than nothing. I find the Sperti vit D lamp to be excellent during these months. 3 times per week, 4 or 5 mins per session, as advised.
@@iot577 That's great you're on top of it and aware. Not many people are. I can imagine it would be hard in a northern climate like that. Great job!
I don't think there's really any such thing as an "autoimmune" disorder because the human body isn't stupid. It isn't attacking its own body. According to scientist, Lida Mattman, PhD, what the immune system is really going after are the "stealth" Cell-Wall-Deficient bacteria hidden in those tissues. CWD bacteria cells are so tiny that they're as small as, or even smaller than, the cells of a virus. In addition, it takes months for them to be seen on a petri dish so pretty much all lab tests miss them because their tests only run for up to 3 days. Other scientists are saying Vitamin D isn't really a vitamin, that it's a natural steroid which was misclassified as a vitamin back in the 1920s. So I wonder if that's one reason why people feel better after taking it: are they, in fact, taking a (natural) steroid? In addition, scientists say this D-substance feeds the CWD bacteria. They LOVE the stuff so, of course, they multiply and grow stronger, eventually making us sicker. I avoid taking "Vitamin" D supplements. (There are websites and YT videos on the science behind the "Marshall Protocol.") What finally cured my heart disease was homeopathy. It has cured so many problems in my family, even my loved one's "incurable" "bipolar with psychosis" and another relative's so-called "schizophrenia." (What they both seem to have had was Toxoplasmosis, a common cause of mental disorders typically misdiagnosed as "bipolar" or "schizophrenia," likely contracted from our sick cat.) -- Linda, author of "Goodbye, Quacks - Hello, Homeopathy!"
Thanks for sharing this Linda. I have many clients who use homeopathy as well as take vitamin D. Yes, vitamin D is mislabeled and it's a hormone that's produced in our body in response to sunlight. So many of our conditions are related to a multitude of factors and finding the right solutions can take time and be frustrating. I'll look into the CWD bacteria!
@@DrAmyNovotny I so agree with you, Dr. Amy. It's just my theory, but I think CWD bacteria are the same thing as the miasms. As you probably already know, if someone contracts, say, syphilis and has it treated with high-dose, short-term antibiotics, the bacteria just run and hide somewhere in the body. They often don't show up in the bloodstream but they're still there. They don't come out again until the coast is clear and they often simply pleomorph into CWD bacteria. The founder of homeopathy, Dr. Hahnemann, discovered the same thing 200 years ago even though he didn't use microscopes. Back then, syphilis was treated with mercury (!) which turned the illness into what he termed a miasm. They sure seem to be the same thing as CWD bacteria. I really can't tell the difference. I'm not a doctor or scientist, just someone who is fascinated by homeopathy and use it to cure pretty much everything in my family. BTW, there are lots of medical doctors who now treat their patients with homeopathy. According to the science underlying the "Marshall Protocol," (videos here on YT) people feel better with "Vitamin" D because it feeds their CWD bacteria, making them happy so they are not so hungry or aggressive. Scientists say that when we do this time and again, often decade after decade, these bacteria grow stronger and are what eventually overwhelm the body and kill us. The Marshall Protocol did help my heart a little - but homeopathy cured what was causing all the palpitations, skipped beats and other "gymnastics." That was years ago. - Linda, author of "Goodbye, Quacks - Hello, Homeopathy!" (It's about how psychiatry is quackery and cures no one - and is also a primer on homeopathy.)
How do we get an appointment with you?. I live in New Zealnd
Hi. Sorry, I missed this comment. You can schedule a free consult here: www.pabrinstitute.com/services#book. I work with clients in Australia and New Zealand so we are able to navigate the time difference easily. Thanks!
please make a seperate video on what helped your relative to stand on toes again. thankyou.
Thanks for requesting this. It's not a simple solution that applies to everyone. I work with people over several sessions to address what their body uniquely needs. I wish it were as simple as what you're suggesting but each case is different. I hope you can understand that. Thanks.
@@DrAmyNovotny yeah, but atleast we can try those things if that works good if that doesn't fine.
@@shubhammehra4300 I understand what you are saying but this approach is completely different. It's not like PT or personal training where you give someone exercises and see if it works. I analyze your body and it's movements and determine what you need. We work on that and see if you can sense a change. That determines the next step. If you don't feel something, we adjust. I don't just guess and hope people get better. It is uniquely dependent on your body, which uniquely got into the current situation. Thanks!
@@DrAmyNovotny okay, i just want to know was it just exercises or something else also that your relative did?
@@shubhammehra4300 Thanks. It wasn't just normal everyday exercises. It's specific exercises for his body that unwound what he had done to himself over the years.
Ty boss
You're welcome @catedoge3206. I hope this video helped!
Wow I stumbled upon this open focus/feeling space in my own meditation explorations (I think this is the same thing that would be called "the felt sense of being" in meditation language.) I kind of underestimated its significance for a while because it seemed almost too easy but now do this all throughout the day. It's basically instant liberation, you are immediately "unstuck" from some inner point of view or fixation and feel clear and open and free and not in opposition to anything. I imagine the space expanding to include the entire universe and everything the you can perceive. Amazing shift in a matter of seconds. Fantastic to hear the brain science behind this!
Hi Keith! Ooh, thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, it sounds like you have it down. It's amazing to feel calm and have open focus at the same time. Once you learn how to do it, it becomes easier to achieve!
Thank you for sharing this, it’s so easy to miss but so powerful, I hope everyone takes a moment to discover this aspect of being ❤
@@keithganzmusic You're welcome Keith! I appreciate that. Yes, there are so many people doing great work out there and you have to wade through a lot to get to it but it''s worth it!
Ive suffered from chronic insomnia for decades using sleep meds for a long time( Zolpidem 10mg). Any sujestions on what aminos i should take.
Hi Nora, I'm sorry to hear that. Have you done some work to calm your body to alleviate the insomnia? Sarah has passed away so she isn't able to advise you on the aminos. You could check with a naturopath in your area though.
I agree with the subject matter but too many damn commercials.
Oh shoot. I'm sorry about that!
@@DrAmyNovotny No apologies necessary. Not your fault. I should upgrade to UA-cam premium. Again, I agree wholeheartedly with your guest and appreciate your interview style.
@@AriePharmD Thanks for your understanding! Dr. Stasha is wonderful!
I took 10.000iu of Dr Berg vit D3 with vit k and I got upper back pain???
Hi Steve, I'm sorry to hear that. It would be good to get looked at by your PCP. I'd get checked out to look at your body position too and see if something tightened up as well.
Great Info.
Thanks for watching @bulletproof890
Is it safe to drink a spoon of bentonite clay in water every day?
Hi Veronika. Ran suggests starting small with a teaspoon in your water. Thanks!
@@DrAmyNovotny thank you:)
@@veronikailovepuppies9489 You're welcome Veronika!
Has your clay been tested for Lead?
Great question. Please out to him!
He is not a doctor right? Just an author so take this info and process it along with advice from others such as your ND -Doctors and Chiropractors
Thank you for commenting. Yes, Ran is not a physician.
You said you have been eating it for 30 years so why weren't you eating it the time you got sick in Ensenada it would have prevented the illness
I'm not sure who you are referring to??
The man in the video, who wrote a book, said he's been eating clay for over 30 years. She was referring to him.
I have exactly same issue now, can you please help me?
Thanks for reaching out Srinivas. I responded to your email!
I don’t believe she’s correct about weight being a dose factor… there’s a lot of research about that and her patients don’t present with obesity so she’s not aware-
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I recommend discussing this with her since I don't recall her chatting about the weight status of all her patients.
Dairy bad? Raw?
Hi Diana, Some people feel that certain types of dairy are okay whereas others react to it poorly. Sarah looked at the impact of amino acids on how people feel. I'm a person who does not eat dairy because I feel much better when I'm not consuming it in any form. Thanks!
Do u have email address...I got this condition with my left foot .and I'm confused how to get normal again
Hi Cynthia! Please send me a message through here and it will come to me: www.pabrinstitute.com/contact
