I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I am thinking about doing with this channel, granted at the end of the day it will be my decision as to what I do, but I would still like to hear your feedback on the trajectory of the channel.

DIY Undergravel Filter (UGF)
Переглядів 16 тис.Рік тому
The most frequent comments I get is "I wish undergravel filters worked with sand" or "How do I use an UGF with sand". Unfortunately, the solution can't be bought, so we have to make our own DIY Under gravel filter. This is one way to skin the cat; another easy way would be to use the inter-linkable UGF tiles and throw a weed fabric barrier across that and you can safe yourself the hassle of mak...
Using Low-Cost LED Lights for Indoor Aquaponic Systems
Переглядів 6042 роки тому
LED lights can be a very expensive cost for indoor aquaponic systems and greenhouse systems. My research focused on utilizing low-cost LEDs lights that could be easily sourced and that were a third the purchase cost of the expensive LED horticultural lights. I hope you all enjoy this presentation and sorry about the wonky sizing; it is the best I could do and am very thankful that I even got th...

Aquariums have a lot of things that can go wrong but having an electrical fire can be prevented just by the way you manage your cords. Internet thinks this Planted Aquarium shouldn't exist
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 роки тому
On the internet, this filtration system is the worse filtration system. You'd be better off throwing dog poop into an aquarium for filtration instead of an UGF. Add on top of that running pressurized CO2 for the plants and this tank doesn't seem to make sense. Have you ever ran a tank like this before, because I know of like 2 other people that have. All of three of these items where purchased at great deals due to an understanding of aquariums that come with time and being aware of value. Recognizing the value of line bred rainbow shiners is important for more colorful variants than wild caught. Recognizing what is a fair price for a second-hand aquarium and not being afraid to assert that is also beneficial. Recognizing the value of "rock...

How to Choose the Best Aquarium Filter
Can you use both a underground filter and a canister filter together
Do you still have or sale them? I’m looking 👀 for two maybe.
Dude Pygmy Sunfish are my absolute favorite nano fish
Where can I find these?!?!
Got here thru ChatGPT’s recommendation. Thank you for helping me understand why it’s simpler to place the motor pump above.
Loved the content and info but maybe slow down your speakin speed. Seems like youre rushing. Love your work!
If you breed and sell id gladly buy! Send links when you do gl!
Hello! I'm hesitating between the ziss aqua bl-3 breeding box and the ziss aqua bl-2 breeding box. Which one do you think is better?
I have set up a tank (125L) with an under gravel filter two months ago, after a hernia of about 46+ years. I am using gravel (5mm size). I have adjusted the airflow to make the waterflow slower. I have succeeded to reduce my Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates to zero. I have dode an in-fish cycle for two weeks with Seachem Prime and Stability. I have 66 fish (small). My tank is planted. I feed daily.
My UGV is air driven with two up pipes.
Good video
How'd the Flex Glue work out? I have gotten conflicting reports on its suitability with potable water or with food sources. You know what I mean...the leeching of chemicals into the water and the adhesive's toxicity to plants and animals, etc.
Didn’t have any problems with it. Bristlenose plecos actually bred in that structure
I don't care what people say anymore, under gravel filters work I've had these filters on my aquariums and the clarity of the water is clear as day hands down! When I get my New aquarium 72x18 I'll have one for sure.
Pity it's not English.
Great video
I like the undergravel filters but this tank just seemed to be an algae fest
You said you preferred aerobic to anoxic but never really said why.
Please I want one male and female please
Bro. Under gravel filter. You took me back to 1994
Agreed!
Heck yea
Short answer Don’t

Appreciate this video, I noticed my cherry shrimp being targeted by the danios. They tried messing with the big shrimp. Now today I don’t see any of the small ones. Going to separate them, but the danios in a different
I've not heard of them until today... 10-2-24
They’re very beautiful fish. I hope to get some when I have an unheated aquarium.
beautiful display of colors, fin age and flexible 🙌🏾 thanks for the post
you have a blessed day sir
Pretty informative and a fair assessment.
I loved them when I did saltwater tanks in past. I would cover tank bottom with dolomite and done! Salt water fish would thrive and I never had PH issues because...well the whole 2in x 12in x 36in bottom was covered with a rock gravel that buffers perfectly. Weekly 20% water change/vacuum gravel would grind some new buffer into tank. I had a HOB with media and has issues galore ranging from the dang filter running dry to PH fluctuations.
great vid. Thanks. Hey, i had a group of 10 in a 10gal (actually Flex 9 gal) and 6 of them started looking like the ones you showed briefly - hunched back, folded fins, and died. Startred with one, then 2, then 3 more. My ph is 7.6, KH is around 8, and temp steady ay 78-79. Any ideas?

I just don't see them for sale in my area anymore. Really, even in the late 90s the one I had then was via a mail order catalog. I'm sure I could get one off AliExpress or some other avenue. But the prices for powerhead/sponge filters is so cheap in my area going out of the way to pickup an UGF is kind of off-putting.
i had 75 neon green rasboras in a 5 gallon, they grew up really great to 4/5inch until i sold them off. never lost a single one. ive just bought 3 CPDs 2FM 1M they spawned about 30 fry. wondering how many to breed up to keep in a 20 high, co2 high light tank
Can't winterize them outdoors in Minnesota. It be getting -20s in the winter and winter lasts 7 months long.
Really helpful. Thank you.
Goofball overharvesting and can’t even pronounce the name correctly
Not the prettiest, Mountain Redbelly Dace is wild
Great explanation
Hey man, just checking in on your crypto shilling. How's it going?
Can i mix with angels or long finned fish? are they nippy?
I used them years ago No issues with mine when I used them years ago. Less visual equipment in tank If you need a water conditioner and a HOB filled with puirigen or whatever if you need it. I like UGs. May go back to one on my next breakdown.
Color blind and legally blind. I know your pain. I'm hatching brine shrimp and im at a loss
What is the best gravel bed depth?
What the fish name at 14:28. The blue fish that’s does the cool dance?
Champion, I remember when I had three 10 gal tanks on the ground, and they were a pain to clean. I'd use a 15-foot line and run it out my door to keep suction.
In years past when I had aquariums. I had Ug filters in all, great success. But once again its follow the money.Aquarium industry realised they need to dazzle and convince the public of new canister, hang on back, and whatever else they can think of to get your money. Im setting up a new 55 gallon, I have a Sun Sun 302not connected yet, two hang on backs and a sponge filter. 5 small healthy goldfish are helping to create the cycle. I'm waiting on an under gravel to set up properly, and will last for years with little maintenance that will last for years
Nice
I have a few Everglade ones I've imported from the US (they're impossible to find here). They have been super hardy. The only issue I've encountered is getting them to eat. I've tried all types of frozen foods and the ONLY one they'll eat are bloodworms. They ignore every other type of frozen. They'll happily eat live bbs and grindal worms. I haven't had much success with live scuds. They chase them for a bit and then lose interest. I heard they eat small ramshorn snails but haven't seen proof of that, and now my tank has exploded with ramshorn snails lol. But other than trying to find things they will eat, they're an amazing little fish.
I also used undergravel filters for years. When working they are great. But sooner or later something always goes wrong. Broken lift tube, cracked plate, system crash. When that happens you have a BIG mess. No way to replace without moving your fish. destroying your plants, and LOTS of dirty nasty water.
Ive installed mine properly this time,What I done is empty some of the water out of my fish tank,Put the pump a little way out of the water,Other side of the pump in the water,It allowes oxgen to pump in to the water for the fish to survive,Then I leave it for a week for the water to set ready to put some goldfish in,Be interesting watching them swimming about
